[ The feed shakes for a few minutes before it centers on a young thirteen year old boy. He has the trademark padawan braid and robes as he sits on his knees in front of the camera. His expression is quiet and muted, though it seems like he hasn't had much sleep. His eyes are red-rimmed and tired. ]

Hello. If you could tell me if this ship is heading to Coruscant, I would be grateful. If not, I'd be happy to earn my way there through any duties you deem necessary.

[ He hesitates, pausing for far too long, biting on his lip. ] And if you -- you have seen Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn.

[ Action ]

[ Obi-Wan weaves himself through the ship, his shoulders hunched and his saber in a tight white-knuckled grip. Surely Qui-Gon wouldn't have left him here . . . not after coming back. Not after their discussion.

Then again, what rights did Obi-Wan even possess?

He tugs the hood over his face and keeps a wary eye on everyone who came close. This was a strange vessel and their responses got even more confusing. Best to keep to himself until he got to Coruscant. ]

Okay. First off, we're a long way from Coruscant. You and Master Jinn must have gotten separated. But if previous experience is anything to go by, you should be getting back together soon...

[ That does take off a lot of pressure. Perhaps there was a problem with their transport. ]

[She can't help but take pity on him. It wasn't long ago that she had her own turn at remembering how it felt to be a new padawan, fearful that Anakin was going to leave her behind at every turn.]

No way. I don't know Master Jinn very well [or at all] but he's never struck me as the type to do that.

[From what she's heard, anyway. TECHNICALLY, IT'S NOT A LIE.]

[ He starts to speak, before closing his mouth abruptly. ]

That's true. Master Jinn wouldn't do that.

And since technically I'm the senior padawan here, you should definitely listen to everything I say.

[SHE CAN'T HELP IT. AN OPPORTUNITY LIKE THIS MAY NEVER COME AGAIN.]

[ He hesitates again. ]

Wait-- what?!

[ He frowns lightly. Did his statement merit such shock? Surely Master Qui-Gon had informed the temple of his status. ]

That's why I need to go back and speak to the Council.

You left the Order.

Obi-Wan Kenobi.

[She's still stuck on that point. Give her a minute.]

[ He purses his lips, the beginnings of his old temper flaring up. ]

It -- It was the right thing to do at the time.

Oh-- hey, believe me, I'm not judging! Trust me, if anyone understands that, it's me, but...

What happened?

[ He doesn't want to talk about it. He barely managed it with Master Qui-Gon when he arrived. Still . . . he owed her an explanation. ]

There was a war on Melida/Daan. Master Tahl had gone to investigate and was taken as a hostage. Master Qui-Gon and I came there to rescue her.

[ He pauses. ]

We found the Young. I chose to stay and help them liberate their planet from the warring factions. Master Qui-Gon left to fulfill his mission.

[Oh, of course. The civil war there... Ahsoka remembers learning about it, if only vaguely. She never remembered hearing anything about Obi-Wan leaving the Order, though...]

I'm not sure I understand. Did the Council forbid you to get involved, or something?

[ Obi-Wan shakes his head. ]

No. Master Qui-Gon did. I . . . do not know what the Council thought of it. I never heard from them.

What?! Why? That's stupid!

Surely as Jedi, it's our duty to help planets in need! Isn't that exactly what the Order was created for?

[ Obi-Wan isn't sure. He had barely started his apprenticeship with Master Qui-Gon and it had ended all too soon and abruptly. There was no resentment on his part, nothing but a fatigue that has sunken into his being. He just wanted to go home. ]

Master Tahl was badly hurt. I do not know what the Council decided.

I see...

Well. If it's any consolation, I think you did the right thing.

[ He shakes his head. Those sentiments came from a good place, but he couldn't handle them. Doing the right thing did nothing for Cerasi. Her legacy was safe, but she was more than a legacy to Obi-Wan. ]

Melida/Daan will be fine. I only did what I could.
