[ The feed shakes for a few minutes before it centers on a young thirteen year old boy. He has the trademark padawan braid and robes as he sits on his knees in front of the camera. His expression is quiet and muted, though it seems like he hasn't had much sleep. His eyes are red-rimmed and tired. ]

Hello. If you could tell me if this ship is heading to Coruscant, I would be grateful. If not, I'd be happy to earn my way there through any duties you deem necessary.

[ He hesitates, pausing for far too long, biting on his lip. ] And if you -- you have seen Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn.

[ Obi-Wan weaves himself through the ship, his shoulders hunched and his saber in a tight white-knuckled grip. Surely Qui-Gon wouldn't have left him here . . . not after coming back. Not after their discussion.

Then again, what rights did Obi-Wan even possess?

He tugs the hood over his face and keeps a wary eye on everyone who came close. This was a strange vessel and their responses got even more confusing. Best to keep to himself until he got to Coruscant. ]

[ Padmé studies him carefully. Leaving the Order isn't something done lightly. Clearly, there's a way to return, but it doesn't make the initial decision less painful. ]

Sometimes the path ahead of us is so obscured that all we can do is what we feel is the right thing to do at the time.

[ She never liked vague platitudes, especially when she was his age, so she continues. ]

I was a queen when I was your age. I had councilors and advisers and the knowledge of those who came before me. But, in the end, the decisions were mine. There were times when I was scared of making the wrong choice. In those times, all I could do was follow my instincts and hope.

My instincts may have saved Melida/Daan.

[ Her expression is kind, but sad. But she pushes the sadness away the moment she can. ]

[ She sits in the chair, careful not to bump the guitar. She's more at eye level this way, though she has to look up a bit now. ]

I met Master Jinn once. He had come to my planet to help negotiate a treaty between my planet and another faction.

I didn't get the chance to know him very well. But he struck me as wise and brave. And compassionate.

[ He nods. That much is true. ]

He doesn't open up easily.

No, he doesn't. But you must know him pretty well.

Not particularly. We've only been together for a few months.

How did you come to be his padawan?

It was . . . an accident. I asked him but he refused. Then we found ourselves together and he . . . let me be his Padawan.

I also recall that Master Jinn is a stubborn person. You must have done something that changed his mind.

I stopped being angry. I was upset that I couldn't be a Jedi because I wasn't chosen, but I realized I could still use the Force. And serving the Force is still important.

I can see why that impressed him. An impression like that isn't easy to forget.

[ "He'll welcome you back." An older Obi-Wan might understand her. The younger one may not. ]

He's not impressed with me anymore.
