[ when the feed flickers on, it's focused on a tiny pink-haired woman. the camera is above, obviously not in her grip, dressed in scholar garb. she stomps her foot on the ground and points to the communicator. ]

Put that down this minute! You've not a clue where that's been!

[ there's a quiet twinkling, like the sound of bells--and she looks offended. ]

We are in an unfamiliar world, with unfamiliar--things! Do not make me unsummon you!

[ is that twinkling panicked? ]

Then put it down! Eos, now.

[ slowly, the point of view is lowered until it drops into allumette's claws, and she breathes a sigh of relief. she peers off-screen until a tiny fairy joins her, settling on her shoulder. she pays no mind to her fairy, however, squinting and staring at it. ]

Oh, Thal's balls--it's on.

[ Jordan just kind of stares at the fairy, actually. He isn't even looking at Allumette, his attention is on... well, the fairy because that's really rather impossible. Fairies and pixies and everything don't actually look like that. So he stands nearby and stares. ]

[ at first, allu's confused by hearing footsteps, but... then she looks at eos, and then at this man. eos, guy. eos, guy.

[ That starts him a bit and he glances to the—child? Midget? Whoever she is, he isn't particularly bothered. It's the creature with her. ]

Maybe. No. I mean—is she a pixie?

She is a fairy. Which is... [ she shrugs. ] not unlike a pixie, I suppose...

[ He gets closer and outright crouches to peer at Eos while she's still on Allu's shoulder. ]

What's your name? [ Can she speak? This is all very curious, very confusing, wrong but exciting. ]

[Alex is walking along, doing his own thing when he sees lalafell and fairy, stops, and just. stares. Because what. what the fuck is that.]

Eos, heel. [ she's about-facing and moving away. a potato indeed. what is a potato, anyway?! ]

[ Jordan raises a brow at her but doesn't even move. He's a pixie, he doesn't care what you want him to do, small person. ]

She doesn't seem that bad to me. [ He focuses on Eos again. Treats her closer to something like an equal, even. ] It's not that bad, is it?

[Also squint. He scratches his head.]

Stuck inside wha--? Oh. [Oh. He snickers softly, then shakes his head and waves one hand.] No, no, it's a video feed, ah. I'm not inside the communicator, I'm on the other end of one.

[ yep, there goes eos, skitting from her shoulder to fluttering behind her head. she sighs exasperatedly. ]

Of course, no one listens to the scholar. Eos, you needn't fear, come out please.

[ more squinting. ]

I... see. [ she gives a sigh before she just flops down. ] That clears up a bit. This nefarious technology is all too much all at once.

[ Jordan tilts his head to watch, then decides to scoot up about... two steps. Maybe. ]

Her name is Eos?

They don't have these back home where you come from, huh? [He presses his lips together.] I guess it is all a bit nefarious, kidnapping, and so on. They could have at least informed us before we left, or something. These guys, we haven't even seen any of them--just the robots over there on Marsiva and audio broadcasts once in a while. If I was gonna kidnap somebody, they would at least know who was kidnapping them, sheesh.

That is a summon command, and she is a summon who happens to be a fairy.

[ eos comes out after a moment, perching herself on allu's head instead. she glances up at her before peering at jordan. ]

Yes, that is her name, I've been told. Or perhaps it's the name she prefers to go by--she's eons old, just about, I've not an idea.

Linkshells occupy a similar way of communication, but never face-to-face like this. [ she shakes her head. ]

These kidnappers haven't shown their faces, either? What kind of cowards are they...

Eons old? [ Gosh, but isn't this fairy just fascinating. ] How did you come by meeting her?

Never heard of a Linkshell before. These are way fancier than the sort of communication devices I was used to, but they're not too hard to figure out. I've customized mine a little, so I know the ins and outs pretty well--if ya get stuck, I can try and help ya with it.

[He pauses and looks a little puzzled for just a second. Wait, why is he being so cheerful? Did he really just say that? Well, no takebacks. He shakes his head quickly to clear it, then shrugs.]

Name's Axel; got it memorized?

A fellow warrior asked for an arcanist's help to uncover archaeological goods. I had thought it interesting at the time, but had not expected to find the soul crystal of a Scholar amongst those goods--once uncovering it, I suppose contact with my aether summoned her forth.

[ ... a short sigh, and she crosses her arms. ]

[ she tilts her head. ]

[There's a random girl nearby who is watching all this craziness. She looks a bit ragged, but doesn't offer any help as Allu struggles with the video feed and her fairy. She just kind of... leans against a hallway wall like a punk and finally speaks up]
