Jester Social Link 001
Who: Tohru Adachi and YOU!
Broadcast: Video (to all)
Action: The Marsiva
When: Right now!
[The first thing that could be heard as the network feed clicked on was someone yawning rather audibly. This was followed quickly by the sight of a suited individual sitting up and stretching out his arms.]
Man, I haven't slept for that long in a while. Usually the guard-
[Adachi quickly cut himself off as he realized that he clearly was not where he had been when he fell asleep. Instead of the four plaster walls that he'd grown accustomed to, he now seemed to be in a large, spacious room filled with all sorts of amenities. He couldn't help but draw the comparison to Junes. But then... how the hell could he be back in Inaba?]
[His detective instincts started to kick in, despite their lack of recent use. First thing: assess yourself.]
[Adachi looked down and was surprised to see his old detective duds. The dark gray suit, white button shirt, and red tie all looked as good as new. Odd, considering how often he had worn this particular outfit.]
[Second, assess the environment.]
[Well, this was already partly done. He clearly was in a completely new environment. Could it be... the other world? That didn't seem plausible. He certainly didn't remember going near any TV, nor did he remember anyone coming along who could have possibly thrown him into one. Noticing a nearby monitor, Adachi got up out of the bunk and approached it. He placed his hand on the peculiarly cool screen and felt resistance. He clearly wasn't going inside this one. And that's when he turned and saw the large viewing bay window.]
What the heck?! It can't be!
[He appeared to be in outer space. Yet, somehow... this realization didn't unsettle him as much as he thought it would. In fact, once the initial shock had worn off, he almost seemed comfortable with this fact. But how? He returned to his initial bunk and went back to step one: assess yourself.]
Okay, it doesn't feel like I've been drugged. Though, if I'm really in the real world, then I shouldn't be able to...
[Sure enough, as Adachi concentrated and tried to summon him, he realized he couldn't.]
So I'm clearly in reality right now.
[He rubbed the back of his neck as he came to terms with just how surreal this was all seeming. And that's when he felt the soft bump, located behind his left ear.]
Eh? What is-
[Yet again, however, he seemed to already know what this bump meant. It was as if he'd always had this information stowed away, but he was only now rediscovering it.]
An "augment," huh?
[That's when he noticed the communicator located next to him. Picking it up, he inspected the device front to back. Just like before, he already seemed to know what it was and how to use it.]
Well then...
[Step three: Assess the situation. Adachi directed his attention to the screen in front of him.]
Um... hello? Anyone receiving on this thing?

Video
'Lo Adachi.
Video
[Even though he knew that the communicator was capable of a video feed, Adachi still couldn't help but be a little surprised by the face that popped onto the screen. Even more suprising, however, was that this individual already seems to know his name? Despite it all, Adachi tries his best to recover and sound casual.]
Uh... hello there! It's uh... nice to see you?
no subject
Is it nice to see me, though? So many people pass through here, and their memories aren't always intact.
no subject
[Adachi tries to return the grin with an anxious chuckle and smile of his own. No point in drawing it out, might as well ask the obvious question.]
Where exactly is "here?"

[Komaeda spreads his right arm out to indicate the ship around him.]
But what sort of proof do you have that this is really some kind of reality? [He's curious, because while he hasn't explicitly been given reason to doubt, it just still seems a bit too far-out to believe.]
no subject
As for the whole "reality" thing...
[Adachi paused as he chose his next words.]
I've seen peculiar things before. It sort of comes with the job. Though nothing quite like this of course...
no subject
Oh? What sort of job is that? It must be something pretty crazy...
no subject
[Adachi snaps a salute. Gotta look official and whatnot.]
I'm a detective actually. Detective Tohru Adachi of the Inaba police department! Nice to meet you... uh...

[Of course, now that he actually has someone responding to him on the communicator. Adachi suddenly realizes he has no idea what to say next.]
Uhm... it's nice to meet you?

[oh, and unfortunately she is the queen of awkward conversations. being social is really not her strong suit. maybe she can force through it.]
I'm, uh, Krista. And you're on a spaceship, and I can promise you that this conversation isn't going to get any less awkward the more we go on.
Re: Video
[That's okay, Adachi's never been the most socially capable human being either. Just be as polite and easy going as possible, and it will all be over soon.]
I take it that we're not exactly close to "Earth" anymore, are we?

Loud and clear! Well, mostly.
Can't say I've heard anyone question reality yet. And if it wasn't, how would you know? [His eyes widen in mock horror, though the sweeping gesture he makes with his free hand is lost below the frame]
video
Oh, heh, was I being too loud? Sorry about that.
Guess you've got a point there. It's just so strange, you know? Suddenly finding myself in outer space and all. [More nervous chuckling, as Adachi tries to ignore how crazy the other guy seemed with his eyes wide open]
no subject
If it wasn't strange I'd have had some questions.

Oh, yes! Hi! [Adachi offers a warm grin as he stands up from the bunk.] I take it from your question that you're not the one that brought me here, are you?

and this is what he finds.
...so, once Adachi orients himself a little, there will be a nearby monitor with some vaguely disheveled-looking kid with piercings and badly dyed hair... and distinctly pointed ears... giggling at him.]

It's kinda hard to believe, huh? You get used to it after a while.
vi-day-oh
I take it from your response that what's happening is apparently nothing new? People just appear here all the time out of nowhere?
vid-EYYYYYY-oh
But yeah, we get people coming in like this all the time. It's pretty confusing, but once you're on your ship for a while it just gets kinda boring.
