A
He's sitting out on the edge of one last far-flung pier on the beach, one finger aimed at the makeshift metal hook he has sunk in the water as he watches the ebb and flow of the tide. Keeping an eye out for the silvery dart of fish, or other marine life. Steve swimming out into the waves is far more noticeable than all of that, though, and it draws his attention for the moment. When he draws closer, he calls out.]
You're keen, at this hour.

[ he smiles as he walks over to the neat pile of his things, a towel, his shirt, his sketch notebook and takes a seat, drying his hair as he does. ]
Any luck so far?
[ gesturing towards the water. ]

No. But all the local merchants assure me that's normal. Most likely as incentive to get me to buy from them instead.

[ he looks at the water for a moment. it's not a bad idea, fishing. it's been a long time, years, really, since he went. Might be good to stock up on some fish for the days when there's nothing but wheat protein and gels. ]
Did they tell you if all the fish here are safe for eating?

[He waves his hand, sending the hook back under. He'd run out of bait a while ago, but the action is relaxing enough.]
I haven't heard any tales of poisonous ones. This world has much less of that compared to the moon.

[ he admits that quite readily. the moon had left an impression for better or for worse and while this planet seems a lot safer in terms of water, air and plants, he always worries for possible risks ]
you know, it may be a good idea to freeze some of those fish. that way we can have a normal dinner once we fly outta here.
[ so tired of protein solids and gels. ]

[ Erik, are you at war with an oven? ]

The locals may have a substitute. But that would depend on if they ever have the need for such things.

[ he looks towards the sea, the calm exterior there and decides to wait around a while and see if his new company might catch a fish. Maybe he can convince Winter to come, if there is a chance of a fishing expedition being successful. ]
You could try renting a ship and try your luck in the deeper water.

He stirs his finger idly in the air, jostling the hook under water.]
I have much better luck hunting on land.
