When: month of june/july! open catch-all for all things sam and anyone who would like to interact with him. this will be updated with new starters for various plotting things but for now there are a few below! all throughout the planet-time.
CLOSED TO PATHSTONE
[ ‘good luck, pilots’. yeah, well, he kind of needs it. considering the whole ‘space ship piloting’ is a generally new thing for him (never mind the sudden influx of knowledge and experience that he really can’t account for), suddenly having to land a space ship in the water brings a whole different meaning to ‘new experience’.OPEN: SHOPS/PIER
it isn’t his smoothest landing, and it certainly isn’t his prettiest, but accompanied by some rough language and a couple of bumps and bruises, the pathstone makes its landing with a splash. they made it though, which is good. sam counts that as a win.
sam will spend the first couple of hours after landing making sure the ship is in well enough order for them to be able to leave the planet again before he starts to make his way land-bound, so feel free to come find him around the pilot’s seat. ]
[ sam doesn’t have a whole lot of extra cash to burn when it comes to shopping and stores, but that doesn’t stop him from taking advantage of the solid ground and open air. he’ll be wandering around the market quite a bit during his time here - if only because there’s definitely enough to see. the whole hand-holding bit catches him off-guard at first, but he’s one to roll with the punches more than anything, and he catches his stride easily enough.OPEN: GIVING TREE
now, he’s not going to be the one initiating any of this hand-holding, but he sure as hell isn’t jumping away from the sudden slip of someone else’s hand into his own (like he might have those first few times, cueing very awkward conversations with the natives). he’s not necessarily up to hugging strangers quite yet, but he could work there given enough time.
or enough drinks. ]
[ sam heard rumors his first few days here, but he wasn’t sure what he felt about them. a tree that gives gifts? gifts from home? there’s no way it’s possible, but the longer he hangs around the people and the planet, the more possible it seems.OPEN: GENERAL
it takes a couple of weeks but eventually there comes a day where he decides, you know. maybe it’s worth a shot. he’s not all that hopeful, really, but if he could something from home that was maybe a bit useful…he doesn’t know. maybe his wings? that would help a lot.
granted, he doesn’t really know where he’s going, and that forest? is very large. and thick. and an easy place to get lost. anyone want to help? ]
[ COME AT HIM ANYWHERE YOU’D LIKE I’M READY TO ROLL WITH IT ]

[pathstone]
or does, until he gets knocked out of his bed by sam fucking wilson's crash landing. ]
Jesus -
[ there's a string of cursing heard from the captain's quarters -- a slammed door, and a huff, as tony marches himself right out onto the bridge -- and he's about to start into a tirade of how you should just know how to land things when he notices... ]
... huh.
[ weird ]
We're not in Kansas anymore.
no subject
he needs to check the ship, he needs to go see if how the hull actually managed the water-landing, making a list of the things he's going to make sure are still in order when-
ah. yes. the captain. he was not really looking forward to this, but he's not exactly surprised. ]
Welcome to Hea-Guaa.
Shops/Pier
Hey, I know you. [In that way where they spoke once, but it was a good chat. She has a smile for him.]
no subject
but now he does, recognizing the face and giving her a smile back. ] Imagine that. Long time no talk. And sorry- no dances on the schedule today.

[ more amazing than you can imagine. sam needs real food. ]

SELF-AWARENESS AS A CUTE KID COUPLE HAS NEVER BEEN MORE APPARENT.
Oh! Almost done ran right into your legs.]
Sorry! M'on the run! I'm not old enough to have a girlfriend!
[HELP A BRO OUT.]
no subject
Whoa, whoa, slow down there- [ he'll set his hands on the boys shoulders and pull him a bit away from his legs. ]
Where's the fire? [ wait. girlfriend? sam laughs a little. ] Not the worst thing to be running from, my man.
no subject
[He makes an 'X' with his arms, no means no!]
I'm not grown-up enough! I wouldn't know how to be a good boyfriend, anyways!
Besides, I got my whole life to worry about that kinda stuff! I can wait another... uhhh - three years!!
[yes takeshi then you'll be 10]
no subject
[ sam is still smiling a bit watching the boy react to this whole dilemma. ]
What's so special in three years?
no subject
[Seven, bro. Three years is like an eternity okay.]
Besides, I can't stay here. I don't wanna hurt her feelings when I go.

it states only: ] Steve is being impossible. Send help.
[ and attached are coordinates to a planet-side inn where she has been essentially quarantined for her own well-being. bring backup, sam. or bring playing cards. ]

[ it takes him approximately twenty six minutes before there's a knock on the door, and when peggy does finally decide to open it, she'll be greeted with the sight of one (1) sam wilson holding up one (1) bottle of wine and a box of indeterminate items.
( upon further inspection, she will definitely find a deck of cards. perhaps a book and some snacks and really, okay, listen. he was a boy scout. he is Always Prepared™ ) ]
Now- I'm not sure how much help I'll be against the man himself, but boredom I can handle.

she errs on the side of staying put. instead, she invites him to take the chair across from her. ] As for the man himself, I imagine we can both take him should it come to that. He's not that tough.
[ she smiles. ]

He'd seen on the roster that Sam Wilson was here. All things considered, talking to him hasn't been high on Winter's list of priorities. Not that the guy has any sort of reason for wanting to talk to him. He does remember trying to kill him on the bridge.
But he's a friend of Steve's, and was a friend of Jim's, so that means something. Which is why he even approaches in the first place. ]
Don't expect me to hold your hand.
no subject
does he like the guy? hell no. but steve trusts him and sam trusts steve and that is as far as his opinion on winter will go.
sam reminds himself of this fact when he feels a figure approach him from the side - keeping a respectable distance, sure, but sam is still tense. just a precaution. ]
What, you haven't been won over by the warm fuzzies yet? [ he pays for one of the pieces of fruit-looking things he'd been leaning over when winter first walked up to him, pausing for a second before grabbing a second and tossing a couple of pieces of coins at the vender and turning to face winter. holding up one of the piece of fruit. ] Hungry?
no subject
He watches Sam pick up another fruit and pay for it, scrutinizing him and the offering for just a moment. He doubts there's any expectation from taking the simple offering, because he's a friend of Steve's, but he needs to feel Sam out on his own. After a little deliberation, Winter offers a nod, holding his hand out. ]
Yeah.
no subject
[ sam doesn't mind it, honesty. but he also doesn't, generally, mind people. sure, sharing emotions and potentially memories isn't exactly the first thing he'd want to do, he's not too worried about it.
then again. he's also not a brainwashed soldier for the russians. so in a way, he can understand the reluctance.
part of sam almost didn't expect winter to take it - fully prepared to pocket one of them and eat the other - but he holds his ground with his eyes on winter's face and a slightly raised brow until the other moves, holding out his hand. sam tosses it - just a short arc up in the air - so that it drops right into winter's palm. he keeps watching winter for just a second after until he shrugs, taking a bite of his own and starting to walk off down the aisle of the market.
winter can follow if he wants to. that's the feeling sam kind of leave between them. ]
no subject
Sam turns and takes a few steps away, and Winter follows, but keeps a few feet between them. It's telling to him, that someone would even trust to have him at their back after he lost control. He could easily stick a knife in his back.
He won't, but there are a million reasons why Sam shouldn't turn his back on him. ]
no subject
maybe there are a million reasons he shouldn't turn his back - maybe there are a million more that sam should just leave him be, telling him to get lost, but sam keeps walking, going on to finish his errands. it's at the next stop that he stops again, picking out some of the items for the room at the inn he's taken out. ]
You staying on land or up in your ship?
no subject
[ Mostly, in case a particular new crew-mate decides to try and disturb the peace again. He really hopes not, but Winter knows this type of guy. Not willing to concede a point when he's in the wrong. Goddammit Hux. ]
I stay planet-side most of the time.
[ But as a Captain, he has certain obligations to the ship and the crew. ]
no subject
still, sam isn't going to waste the chance to move around. to get some open air. there's only so much he can do cooped up inside that very tiny space (with a very huge ego....it feels even smaller with tony at the captain seat, honestly). ]
Have to stretch your legs where you can, right? [ sam never considered himself claustrophobic, but this has been a different experience entirely. ]
You think we're going to run into anything that requires a need on this planet? [ violence, events, battles. sam hasn't been in this whole ship-show for very long, so there's always more info he can get. even if winter isn't exactly sam's first source to go to. he'll take what he can get. ]
no subject
[ The claustrophobia sets in occasionally, but it's hard not to, being confined to a small metal tube with limited mobility. Sure, the Iskaulit is a shuttle ride away, but it's still not the same.
Everyone feels it at some point.
Winter considers the question with a frown. ]
I hope not. It's hard to tell, though. The last attack was sudden, though there were no casualties. They were herding us.
no subject
[ he really hated those gas-masks. like really really hated. and he doesn't use repetition lightly.
nothing worse than losing your wings and your ability to walk around with a horror-movie gas mask attached to your face.
he's not yet sure what he hates more- that or spending extended periods of time in the ship with tony. either way, he's happy to be out and free. ]
Herding us? What makes you say that? [ the question comes with a raised eyebrow. feel free to explain, winter, he's ready. ]
no subject
[ No other real explanation of that. It was not to long after he'd joined the fleet. Since ships were damaged, but the atroma got them where they wanted them to go, in any case. ]
An enemy that doesn't aim for the kill is toying with you.
no subject
sam comes to a stop in the middle of the street, plenty of people walking by in each direction. he's always on the watch for possible eavesdroppers. he also turns to face winter, entirely, his expression a bit more curious than anything. ]
So they don't control the ships? [ a beat, before sam's arms cross over his chest. ] If they have to herd us using an apparently enemy, then they can't actually steer the machines. Can't make us go anywhere. Right?
no subject
If they can control our augments without lifting so much as a finger, why would they need to steer the ships?
Our perceived control of a situation gets ratings, Wilson.
no subject
[ the mention of ratings has him tense, but other than a slight grit to his teeth, not much changes.
he's still getting used to that part. ]
And they're just keeping it in their pocket until someone acts up enough to use it? Seems like a cheap out.
no subject
[ He knows better than anyone how much bullshit the ratings are. He'd gotten a pretty hefty sum after his own little glitch on the Iskaulit.
Bastards. ]
Fear is a decent motivator.
no subject
they should probably not talk about winter's most recent little romp about. sam's not exactly...well. a fan of it. and without steve around, sam will have a lot more to say. ]
It is. It just depends on what you use the motivation for. [ he can hear steve in the back of his head. knows what he'd say.
he doesn't feel like he needs to repeat it. ]
no subject
They use it to create drama. To make sure we're paying attention.
[ They being the Atroma, because aside from a few people in the fleet, things are generally peaceful. ]
no subject
They can use it however they want. I'm more interested in how we use it.
[ Steve Rogers Voice ™ ]
no subject
[ Sure, they can all rally together against the Atroma or whatever else, but with a direct link into their heads, what the fuck can they really do? ]
no subject
[ he shrugs, unsure a bit himself. granted, he may have a bit more of that optimistic streak since he hasn't been here very long, but that'll prove one thing or another the longer he hangs around. ]
What they're going to try and use it for. [ at 'it' he taps the back of his neck. ]
no subject
[ It's obvious now. He glitched out, Sam Winchester started digging and he glitched, too. People falling asleep from nowhere... Waking up with new memories, new scars.. ]
