[ Action, Rogue's room on the Vanquish, and later around the ship. ]

[When Rogue woke up, she knew something was wrong. Little things were off about her room and when she tried to raise her head, her arms felt like noodles. What - what happened? Why was she so weak?

If anyone is in her room, she could probably use some help getting out of bed...

Later, she will be walking very slowly down the halls, leaning hard on the wall, in order to get to the kitchen. Has anyone seen her captain? Her co-chef? Her brother?]

All right, I'm up. I heard all the 'beauty sleep' jokes already, so try a new one. What'd I miss? Fill a gal in.

[She's hoping that this will also serve as a role call. After all, she's pretty sure it'd been over a month, and she knows how people come and go.]

[His smile and tone softened at that comment, gaze on her,] Ya too, Rogue. [Before it dropped for a moment and when it raised to her again that light mask was back over him again, not totally covering him but just enough to pull back those softer emotions that they both allowed each other to see now and then. She really was one of the few who ever got a chance to see underneath it, and in times like this Remy was very glad she was one of those people.

It didn't however mean though he wasn't ready to turn the topic to a more joking fashion.] So does this mean I gotta find a way to roll ya over to the Iskaulit for a decent mean, considerin' they got an oh so talent cook workin' there part time now. [His grin making it very unmistakable who he was referring to.]

[A lighter topic was just fine with her. Rogue arched an eyebrow and gave a little smile.]

I already knew Eugene was workin' there... lemme guess, Sanji showed up?

[Or maybe not so light.] Ah, actually the reason had a call out for cooks was 'cause they didn't have 'ny. [Damn, she had been out for awhile, people had gone home, were these people who were close to her? Hell, the fact that Kurt was... yeah, she had missed out a lot.] So not sure what happened to those two.

...oh. [She hadn't known Eugene - but Sanji had never - but that wasn't important. She was going to miss Eugene.

She gave him a small smile.] So who're ya workin' for?

[Remy offered a bit of a smile to her realization, knowing it wouldn't really help with the fact people were leaving, but trying anyways as he answered.] Nami, she running the place now, Varric left it to her.

Varric's gone too, huh? [She exhaled.] Ya close your eyes for a little while, wake up an' everythin's changed...

[It was that comment that made his smile drop, realizing that if she hadn't been told yet then she had a right to know, as much as he didn't want to break the news.] ...Has someone told ya 'bout Kurt yet, ya brother, [Compared to the older one from a different universe.] He was one of the folks who left as well.

[Rogue's gaze drifted down for a moment.] Yeah, I heard. [A sigh, looking back up at Remy.] He's better off. He was real - young - for this place. Would've hated ta see it happen again.

[See him break in the realization of helplessness and start to build back up again.]

[Remy reached out, taking one of her hands and giving it a light squeeze to try and deliver some measure of comfort and support for her before he took his hand back, knowing not to hold on too long.] Yeah, back to normal problems of school, 'nd trainin', 'nd sentinels. Much safer. [Ok, that was a bad joke.]

[That would make her feel bad except...] Yeah, good thing I know a time traveler who's got the next couple of his months all worked out, or else I might be worried.

[She gave him a shadow of a smile. These things kept happening. You'd think she'd be used to it by now. She exhaled quietly.] Ya know, I've been out of our world since I was eighteen. This is gettin' old.

[That brought his grin back, as well as a shrug of a shoulder.] Yeah, clearly I need to set up a table 'nd charge for it. Get some tarot cards like one of the old femmes who be down at the Quarters every sunny weekend, talkin' tourist 'nto gettin' their fortunes read.

[He paused once more before giving her a side ways glance.] Ya mean seein' people come 'nd go?

[A flicker of a smile at his joke.] I can get ya a wig.

[...then she sobered.] Yeah, that. An' -- this. [Gesturing around at the area.] This whole thing. At least in Luceti, we had a bunch of problems to solve, even if it all related ta 'goin' home.' I had my shop and the stables an'...

[She caught her breath and let it out.] I hate how pointless this all is, even if it's just -- livin'.

Ya sayin' I ain't pretty 'nough as it is? Ya hurt me, chere. [A playful pout that was then lost as she continued and Remy felt a need to take her hand again, to offer some sort of comfort, to do something.] Yeah, I get what ya mean, why I went for that position, stop m'self climbin' the walls.

[Remy fell silent for a few moment before glancing to her.] Ya know, we could try 'nd pick some stuff up to do, even when we're stuck on the ships, get a routine goin', ya know? I do mornin' trainin' but wouldn't complain 'bout some company, [A slight smile on his lips.] 'nd ya goin' to need it to get back on ya feet 'nd upright for more than a minute at a time.

Other than that, could start something up if the jobs 'round the bars 'nd stuff ain't ya style. Sellin' 'nd buyin' might work even, pick up merchandise on the planets 'nd sell it on later. I would say could use a kitchen hand, but not like gotta worry 'bout a lot of prep like would with real food. [Though...] But I mean, if ya wanna, sure Nami wouldn't mind 'nother set of hands as well. Plus I know how good ya be a desserts.

[Rogue glanced down at their hands and... she remembered all those months in Luceti when it had just been the two of them, remembered the fight they'd had to have just so she would say his name...]

Remy-- [She laughed and shook her head, then squeezed his hand before letting it go - wouldn't be right to just sit there and hold onto him.] I'll keep it in mind. Figures ya want me ta spar with ya now, when a light breeze could knock me over.

[A quick, wry grin that... slid off her face as she sighed.] I know what you're sayin' is right, gotta live life where we're at just... [A pause, her teeth grinding together for a moment[ I am so tired of this.

Well I gotta get the upper hand on ya somehow, don't I? [Yet it felt a little forced as he brought his hand back to him, laying still against the table for a moment before whatever it was that was sitting in the air around them forced him to start tapping his fingers. Some movement to help cope and reduce that pressure.]

Wish I had a better answer for ya. [Remy really did. She had been stuck through this so much longer than he had, so many more years and so many more horrors, fighting to keep going through so much. Battles, friends and family coming and going, her daughter... But he got that itch, that need for substance to life. It drove him up the wall to be still, to not have a way to get out and do something. Routine only helped so much. In the end they were still in a prison, just one with prettier walls rather than those of bars and brick.]

[She felt badly for him when he started tapping his fingers. She knew him pretty well by now, knew the pattern of his fidgets, and that wasn't a particularly good sign.

She sighed and glanced down for a minute before looking back up at him.] Do appreciate ya listenin'. I'll get it together. I promise.

'nytime, really. 'nd hey, no need to rush right 'way, hein? Ya just woken up after all, if 'nything gives ya a bit of leeway a coma would certainly do that.

[Rogue made a face.] 'Coma.' Bleck. That was the worst night's sleep I've ever had, an' I've had some lousy night's sleep.

[Belatedly aware that she was whining at him again, Rogue gave a brief laugh.] Aw, shoot. There I go again. Got company an' I'm just gripin' at ya. I ought ta be ashamed.

Night, day, night, day, more nights, more days. [Yes he had been worried, but it wouldn't be like Remy if he wasn't ready to tease Rogue about what happened. Now that she was ok, now that she was awake, now that she was past that.]

Nah, if ya can't gripe to ya friends then who can ya to? I mean, just because ya breakin' Southern etiquette with havin' guests over, don't mean 'm goin' to tell ya on 'cause of it.

[She rolled her eyes good naturedly at his tease and... tried not to think about it. She really didn't want to think about it.]

I'd offer ya some lemonade an' cookies, but all we've really got is goop an' more goop. [Well, maybe they had the ingredients to make the goop less... goop-like, but it wasn't exactly appetizing.]

That be mighty kind of ya, 'nd I think in this situation I won't hold it against ya. [Although good Southern etiquette would also mean he should had brought something around for her. So clearly he's got to do the next best thing.] Ya eaten yet? I could make ya something up.

I would do terrible things for a cheeseburger an' chilli fries. [A sigh.] ...but I suppose soup's the better idea.

Well I have ya know have got a possible lead on cheese, Kitty been tryin' to find a way to make it 'nd we may have it sorted in the near future... by the pink pony that's in the fleet. [Yeah, that was still weird.] So may not be able to do for ya today, but maybe soon.

'til then, I think I can manage something close to soup with what ya kitchen got here.
