Captain's Log 04 - It's a Rock Party
Who: Jim Kirk + You
Broadcast: Yes
Action: Yes - either on the Tourist or the Planet (this post will be functioning as a semi-overflow)
When: Nowish
[ Hello, fellow Drifters. Today you shall find one Captain Kirk, currently of the Tourist, smiling into the camera - perhaps a bit to delighted for everyone's comfort, so if you know what's good for you turn off the broadcast now. Or stick around. It's really 50/50 with him some days. He clears his throat, for a moment attempting to look serious outside his obvious delight. ]
So, first things first, some house keeping -
For those who don't know, I'm James Tiberius Kirk, Captain of the Tourist, newly minted a few weeks ago. Please just call me Jim or Kirk, though. Any problems with the Tourist or her crew can be directed to me, or if I am not available you can relay a message to my first mate - Fenris.
[ Let that sink in everyone and then think real hard about if you want to go that route ever. ]
Now, with that out of the way...
[ His face resumes its delight. ]
Since we're all sharing what little treasures we've been getting from the planet we're all on, I thought I would join in the fun.
[ He messes with something off camera, and everyone will be treated to the dulcet tones if the The Beastie Boys. Kirk is bobbing his head and every now and then either strumming an air guitar or beating on air drums.
The song ends and his grin is so very pleased with itself. ]
Words to live by, my fellow Drifters. Words to live by.
[ ooc: Inside this post will be a section for continuations of planet mingle threads if we have not already started one somewhere else! Feel free to add one here if I miss yours or if you would like to start one since I'll also be putting up the original starters from the mingle. ]

Re: video
I would simply call anyone who feels that destroying three planets is a necessary and acceptable action to be backwards and, as you say, primitive. You really aren't in a place to judge anything or anyone else as primitive.
video
My actions are to bring progress for the galaxy by sweeping away the old. Not all of us wish to wallow in the past forever.
Re: video
You don't see the issue with the idea of "sweeping away the old" being "kill trillions of people"? That's called mass murder. Genocide. They're the actions of terrified mad men, and what you did is never necessary.
video
This way was quick, clean, and efficient.
[And no, he doesn't regret it.]
Re: video
It was murder. People who weren't even fighting you died. Children died.
And you call that righteous? You will found your empire on a base of bones and blood? That's shaky ground, and empires like that fall - quickly.
video
I've seen the destruction Republic was capable of inflicting on the galaxy firsthand and I wouldn't hesitate to make the same decision again if necessary.
Re: video
You keep saying the destruction they inflicted, and yet the only evidence you presented is you, yourself, destroying three whole planets. So far, it sounds like the Republic has the right of it, fighting against a tyrannical, fanatical group intent on destroying their lives one way or the other.
video
You can disagree with the decision all you wish but it doesn't change the facts.
Re: video
Here's a fun fact - it will never be justifiable. What you did is, at the least, a war crime.
Have you ever thought that with so many people, I can bet everyone here, telling you what you did was horrible and wrong that maybe it's just that? Horrible. Terrible. That your order is wrong.
video
It doesn't matter as anyone here couldn't possibly comprehend the circumstances. Even the Jedi and those of the Old Republic are hardly in any position to understand the situation we faced.
Re: video
You keep saying that. We can't possibly understand. We can't comprehend. Yet you never try to explain yourself. Not really.
Probably it's because you don't have an actual justification besides the things you've been told to parrot by your leaders. And I bet they don't explain themselves, they just expect you to do what they want, like a good little puppet.
video
You lack the knowledge of our history between the Empire and the terrorists who eventually formed the Republic. They seized power through chaos, murder- including Imperial citizens along with the Emperor.
This isn't ancient history passed down through the records by our leaders. I still remember the day when the Republic fleet came to besiege my home planet, destroying everything in their path.
[But there is no sadness in his expression though his tone is firm, strong with conviction.]
So yes, I made the decision I did without hesitation, for the galaxy and I am proud of it. It will be a day long remembered.
Re: video
So fill me in. Because you still aren't filling me in. You're making wild accusations and claims, without actual facts or situations. The only fact here is that your Empire, your Order, destroyed three planets and the lives of trillions of people.
And no matter what you say, that will never be justifiable or less horrific. If it is remembered, it will be infamy, with your Empire the villain.
video
[He idly tapped the edges of his datapad. Though it was no longer connected to Finalizer and the Order's database the datapad still contained a great deal of information he had saved to the device over the last few years.]
I doubt you would take my word.
video;
[ He lifted his chin, a challenge. ]
video;
And I haven't forgotten the fact that you did attack me without any provocation before.
no subject
If you ask me, it's about time you got punched in the face. Someone had to do it. I'm glad it was me.
no subject
[And Starkiller was only the beginning.]
I'm sure the citizens of the former Hosnian planets and the Republic Fleet are touched by your noble actions on their behalf.
[He may be egging you on a bit, just a little.]
no subject
[ It made him sick, personally. ]
It'll let me sleep better at night, that's for sure.
no subject
And while your thoughts are touching it doesn't change anything nor will it make me regret what I've done.
no subject
It's not something to be proud of. People like you go down in history as monsters, a darkness to be avoided at all costs.
no subject
My legacy, and that if the First Order, will endure, despite what anyone believes. It will always be there to inspire others, just as I was inspired by those who came before me who weren't afraid of doing what was necessary no matter the cost.
[Tarkin may have been a bit of a childhood hero of his growing up.]
no subject
So you grew up idolizing people who thought human life was cheap? That they were pawns to be cast aside, to be cut down simply because they were in the way or didn't agree? What kind of a world is that to live in? What can you build on the back of oppression and death? It's a poor foundation, to say the least.
no subject
Yes, one star system was destroyed but that will ensure countless thousands of systems will continue to live in peace, their safety and stability ensured. In reality, most will never see a star destroyer in orbit- they will simply continue their lives knowing that they are provided for.
no subject
Don't fool yourself. They'll know. And what of the people you destroyed? What of them? You keep saying you want to protect and provide, but all it sounds like you've done so far is destroy.
If that's true - what makes you so much better than this Republic you despise so? If they are culpable of the same things, of letting systems die, then what of you who full on destroyed one?
