Captain's Log 04 - It's a Rock Party
Who: Jim Kirk + You
Broadcast: Yes
Action: Yes - either on the Tourist or the Planet (this post will be functioning as a semi-overflow)
When: Nowish
[ Hello, fellow Drifters. Today you shall find one Captain Kirk, currently of the Tourist, smiling into the camera - perhaps a bit to delighted for everyone's comfort, so if you know what's good for you turn off the broadcast now. Or stick around. It's really 50/50 with him some days. He clears his throat, for a moment attempting to look serious outside his obvious delight. ]
So, first things first, some house keeping -
For those who don't know, I'm James Tiberius Kirk, Captain of the Tourist, newly minted a few weeks ago. Please just call me Jim or Kirk, though. Any problems with the Tourist or her crew can be directed to me, or if I am not available you can relay a message to my first mate - Fenris.
[ Let that sink in everyone and then think real hard about if you want to go that route ever. ]
Now, with that out of the way...
[ His face resumes its delight. ]
Since we're all sharing what little treasures we've been getting from the planet we're all on, I thought I would join in the fun.
[ He messes with something off camera, and everyone will be treated to the dulcet tones if the The Beastie Boys. Kirk is bobbing his head and every now and then either strumming an air guitar or beating on air drums.
The song ends and his grin is so very pleased with itself. ]
Words to live by, my fellow Drifters. Words to live by.
[ ooc: Inside this post will be a section for continuations of planet mingle threads if we have not already started one somewhere else! Feel free to add one here if I miss yours or if you would like to start one since I'll also be putting up the original starters from the mingle. ]

[Chloe is still in an absolutely despondent mood and drinking too much after Max's departure, but she can manage a half-joke.]

While I appreciate the sentiment in the words...I'll have to admit I'm having a hard time hearing that as music.

I am not so sure what to make of your musical tastes, however.

Planet Mingle - Overflow + NEW
[ He spent a good ten minutes laughing when they got to this planet and what was there? A beach. After his wishing and griping with Kara and Tyrion - a beach! Naturally he had to take advantage of this opportunity, laying out in the sun in his swim shorts, and enjoying long, hard runs in the sand - usually shirtless, the tattoo on his side on full display.
And yes, he absolutely had a drink with an umbrella when he was laying out. It wasn't a beach visit without at least one! ]
[ B The Forest ]
[ As much as he enjoyed the beach, he wouldn't be spending all his time there. He made his way into the forests at any given opportunity, sometimes taking readings for the flora or less dangerous fauna he found (you could take a captain out of Star Fleet...). Sometime he would climb up trees if he saw something interesting.
And sometimes it was to escape something with quite a few sharp teeth. Such was the life of James T. Kirk. Par for the course, really. ]
[ C - Taverns/Markets ]
[ If there was a place to experience the culture of a place it was in their social centers - markets and taverns. Thanks to generous donations from the previous captain, Kirk had some real spending money now and he could be found picking up little trinkets here and there through the market. Items to take with him on the ship, memories of this planet and her people.
The tavern came later towards the evening, Kirk grabbing himself the closest thing to a beer and taking up a seat at a table. He's naturally amiable, encouraging anyone and everyone to sit and talk with him. Anything goes, really, in a tavern once the drinks settle in. ]
[ D - The Hot Springs ]
[ As naturally curious as he was about the volcano, he of course came to learn of the hot springs. And after all that stressful time on the last planet, well, what better way to relax? The beach was nice, but there was something to be said for getting all the kinks properly worked out of your muscles. He's not shy about wandering around the springs either or starting up conversations. What better time to get to know someone better? ]
[ E ]
[ Wildcard! Use this if you had something specific in mind not covered in the above or if we plotted something specific! ]
For Furiosa
[ He knew that being a Captain here wasn't the same as on a real ship, but it gave him back a bit of the identity that was so central to himself, so he took it for what it was. ]
I'm not sure what much I can tell you besides make sure the coffee maker works at all times.

For Fenris
Depends on the type of gun. Not all of them are big like the ones we keep in the hold.
[ There's always that one lucky shot, and Kirk tends to be lucky, Fenris. ]
Shouldn't that have been the age when all the dragons were around in the first place? Shouldn't the new one be, like, the Dragon Resurgence?
[ He reached out to tap Fenris' shoulder and pointed slightly forward to angle him towards a new patch of land, thinking he could see some bright colors up ahead and finding himself curious. ]

For Eric
Got it on one.
[ He tapped his nose. ]
He's my head engineer. Make's sure my girl runs right.
[ He looked at the spear again and at Erik's form, as if trying to judge how much force, precisely, he could put behind it. ]
So what does that do to your success rate?

Hah, that's okay. Actually, you would be doing me a favor just with your company. I'm learning it's safer to go out in pairs here, especially when you get deeper in - predators you know.

For Hawke
[ Oh, but he loved those hands, especially the callouses, the way they scraped against his skin. They had done quite a lot for him the first time around. Already he thought of what they could do this time, what that stubble could do, those lips, those teeth. He lifted his head up, smirking down at Hawke, wriggling his hips just so against the other man's, tangled as they were in the sheets. ]
What can I say? It's hard not to want to make the most of our time together.

For Maglor
[ It sounded more like a religion than anything else, and who was he to question someone's religion? He had heard crazier theories, honestly, and at least this one sounded somewhat pleasant, which was a nice change. If nothing else, it did indeed encourage some lovely songs. ]
Does that mean I have one too? Could you make a song out of me?

Wait, we have a giant wolf on the fleet? There's no way I missed that. Do our ships even accommodate things like that?
Well, I take that back, we have talking ponies, why not a wolf?

For Anders
[ He winced at the mention of a barn fire, but he had honestly done worse at the age of twelve and quite on purpose. Not that he blamed Anders or anything, but in terms of hijinks, well, Kirk probably had the lead on that.
His mouth twitched at the notion of running away seven times, though it was sad he had to try seven times, or any times, at all. Still, he let it seem a touch amusing for the sake of the other, and let the topic go as he clearly requested. ]

B - For Felix
[ Kirk drifts through the market, accepting the touches, though after awhile they began to border on annoying and uncomfortable in some cases. He's walking with a purchase in hand in a burlap sack when he hears something of a commotion up ahead, looking towards it just in time to spot Felix darting away like a terrified cat, seeking the safety behind a tree.
Frowning, Kirk hurries through the crowd and around the way he had seen him go, waving off others who tried to follow. He spotted him and came forward, kneeling down in front of him, but carefully not touching him. ]
Hey, Felix - it's Kirk. Are you all right? You gotta breathe for me here, okay? Deep in, deep out.
