Well, waking up with knowledge I didn't glean for myself is quite an experience, I must say. Does this sort of thing happen often, or is it a once in a lifetime memory I get to cherish until my probably untimely death?

[Robin smiles a little at that. She's been on the run since she was eight, and fully expected death to catch up to her long before now. Untimely her death most likely will be, but she's been living on borrowed time for more than twenty years, so she has no particular complaints.]

I suppose I ought to introduce myself. My name is Nico Robin. I'm an archaeologist. And... security officer, it would seem.

[She does not look like the security officer type. More like the secretary a sexist boss hired for all the wrong reasons type. But who knows?]

It's been awhile since I've had to seek passage with a strange crew on a new ship, but that's worked out for me quite well the last couple times, so I'm not opposed to doing so again. It'll be the first time I do so in space, however. If there's some aspect of it that wasn't included in our instant training module, I do apologize.

[ Eithan happens to be walking through the hospitality deck, and he spots her just as she's wrapping up her broadcast. So, he makes his way over to her, because why not answer in person? ]

Hey, so I'm not the only space-newbie! That's comforting. [ He offers a friendly smile. ] Nico, you said? I'm Eithan. Nice to meet you.

Ah, it's fine if you want to call me Robin. There's no need to be formal. [Robin crosses her legs, one over the other, on the edge of the bed. It leaves just enough space for a visitor to sit comfortably at the foot of the small mattress.] And yes, this will be my maiden voyage, so to speak. At the risk of seeming a killjoy, I hope it'll be less exciting than my first time going to sea.

Robin it is, then.

[ He takes that offered space next to her! Though he does place himself nearer to the edge of the mattress - no reason to come off as creepy, or anything. He's just glad to not be alone on this huge ship right now. ]

Is the sea that excitin'? [ He grins. ] Only boat I've ever been on was just big enough to take us over the river. Nothin' special. So it's all new to me.

[It might be a weird image looking back at Robin with some disbelief. Nami's hair is much shorter, more like the older days. And she's definitely on a ship, but not the Marsiva; there's blue skies behind her, and netting and part of a mast and the sounds of the ocean.]

Robin...?

[So eloquent.]

It can be, quite. With gusts of winds sharp enough to cut through cloth and waves as tall as skyscrapers. Sometimes you fight and you push the ship to stay upright, sometimes you simply hold onto something as hard as you can and hope you'll have enough stamina to outlast the wave crashing over the boat. [Robin drops her chin into the palm of her hand, wistful.] And there are days when the water's smooth as glass and nearly as transparent. Since the wind is negligible there isn't much sailing to be done, so everyone takes a break. The boys go fishing or play volleyball on the deck while Nami and I make bets and take in some sun. [Wherever her mind went, it comes back with a blink.] Well, I think both seas have their charms. It's cannon fire and being chased by men with guns and sabers I could honestly do without. [She says, with the sunniest of smiles on her face.]

[thetruehistorian]

.... Nami! [Also loquacious to a fault.] [It is a relief to see her, however. Starting over again isn't always a bad thing, but it's certainly much better with a friend.] You wouldn't happen to need a... [her face falls a little] power armor operator for your ship, would you?

Do you do a lot of ship-hopping in your archaeological line of work?

[Whoa, he hasn't seen you in... a while. It'd been a short but otherwise entirely pleasant stay with the Strawhat crew — and it takes him a moment to realize he definitely knows that voice. The video lines up with the face in memory soon after.]

Oh! You've sought passage on ships before, yourself? I-I would agree my crew had been pretty strange themselves!

[8D Like minds! Koala's always pleased to hear anything about sailing.]

You said - an archaeologist?

[A split second is all it takes for her surprise to turn into a bright smile.]

You're here! I-- we don't really need one of those, no. But I could always do with a morbid archaeologist. Did you just get here? I'm sorry, but I've missed you! How's the crew?

[thetruehistorian]

Of course they'd give me the most useless augment. [Robin smiles anyway.] I just arrived y- [She pauses, expression turning to confusion.] What do you mean, how's the crew? How long have you been here?

The world I'm from only has one continent. The rest is ocean and islands. I've been studying a long lost culture that once had influence over much of the world, but has since vanished. So yes, actually. Quite often. Is that strange, to you?

[Sadly, it's true. Robin has no idea who he is. But the familiarity with which he speaks her name strikes her as interesting.] Indeed. Pleased to make your acquaintance.

[Robin blinks a few times before responding. Those eyes... that shape of the face... They're so familiar and yet far too young. She quickly recovers, and smiles brightly.] I did! Is that something that interests you, as well?

[ Wow, she sounds like an outright storyteller like this! He lets out a low whistle, impressed. ]

That does sound awesome. I mean, yeah, canons and guns and sabers aside. No idea if we'll have to worry about that stuff here yet or not. Only thing I'm hearin' is that we get put onto smaller ships, and that we're bein' recorded for entertainment. Which... Is really weird if you ask me. [ He makes a bit of a face. ]

[It bothers Robin, too, but she gives him a sly grin rather than an understanding one.] Are you the type that needs privacy because you've got something to hide?

Just a different perspective, is all. You'd be in command of your own vessel for studies that significant where I come from.

[ it wouldn't be for sea travel but barriss is getting used to the idea that not everyone is from space. ]

[thetruehistorian]

Under different circumstances, I might have been as well. But it is what it is, and there's no sense in dwelling on what if, no? Do you mind if I ask your name?

A very wise approach.

[ and a little smile, all too ready to be polite. ]

My name is Barriss Offee. Robin, you said?

[deviances]

[ Aaand he rises to that grin, a little bit of mischievousness creeping into his own. ]

Hey, can't spoil the mystery when we've only just met. C'mon. What kind of show would that make?

[namisan]

[Ah. Of course. She sobers some, though she's still smiling, it's just... a little apologetic.]

Time works strangely here. When you go home, you'll find no time has passed at all for you, and you won't remember having been here. I haven't been home in... a long time.

[thetruehistorian]

[Robin's grin gets a little deeper as well.] So you do have something to hide. It's all right. You aren't the only one with dirty little secrets. [And just to be extra saucy, she winks.]

[thetruehistorian]

I see. [Her voice is quiet. Robin glances away from the camera for a few moments, then a smile returns to her face.] Well, it'll give us that much more to talk about when we're reunited, no?

[thetruehistorian]

Mm. Do you prefer to go by Barriss or Offee? And please pardon my ignorance. I'm afraid your nomenclature isn't at all similar to anything I've encountered on my world.

[namisan]

As long as you don't vanish again before that happens. [Wryly. Luffy hadn't lasted long. But Nami's never stopped missing her crew, and Robin's appearance really hits home how much she misses them all.]

I shouldn't be happy you're here, but-- yeah. Ah. You won't be trapped on that ship for long! They shift new arrivals out to the other ships every week, so it's maybe a couple days away. Hopefully you're not there on your own.
