Well, waking up with knowledge I didn't glean for myself is quite an experience, I must say. Does this sort of thing happen often, or is it a once in a lifetime memory I get to cherish until my probably untimely death?

[Robin smiles a little at that. She's been on the run since she was eight, and fully expected death to catch up to her long before now. Untimely her death most likely will be, but she's been living on borrowed time for more than twenty years, so she has no particular complaints.]

I suppose I ought to introduce myself. My name is Nico Robin. I'm an archaeologist. And... security officer, it would seem.

[She does not look like the security officer type. More like the secretary a sexist boss hired for all the wrong reasons type. But who knows?]

It's been awhile since I've had to seek passage with a strange crew on a new ship, but that's worked out for me quite well the last couple times, so I'm not opposed to doing so again. It'll be the first time I do so in space, however. If there's some aspect of it that wasn't included in our instant training module, I do apologize.

[Sadly, it's true. Robin has no idea who he is. But the familiarity with which he speaks her name strikes her as interesting.]

So that means this face isn't very familiar, huh?

Not that I know of, no, but - uh, I was in your world for a little bit.

I actually sailed on your ship. Or will. I'm not sure where it falls just yet. Nami and Sanji and Chopper, we were all stuck in a rough situation together for a while, so we became friends through that.

... It'll probably sound pretty out there. But I think a Strawhat will be more open to it all than most others.

Well. I've just had memories implanted into my head that tell me time has been stopped for me so that I could be transported out of my own reality and into this new one for the sake of entertainment. The thought of someone being sent to my own world for a time is just as logical, don't you think?

If you don't mind, could you tell me a bit about this other place where you met them?

[He grins.]

You're talking to someone who thinks your world is already nuts, but yeah.

The world was called Adstringendum — you probably would have thought it was pretty interesting, before things got a little grim. Essentially, the fabric of time and space there was a bit broken, so it'd pull things from other universes. Not just people, but animals. Objects. Entire buildings, ruins, and monuments.

It was at least never a dull world.

... That doesn't seem incredibly different, at it's core. Objects, buildings, and monuments tend to be fairly docile unless there is someone manipulating them to make them dangerous.

[He chuckles.]

There was a lot of manipulation going on, yeah. Nami could tell you about it.

Most of it wasn't super dangerous, but we had spirits who shifted a lot around, liked to mess with us. A lot. The environment and natural logic of the place changed pretty much every other week, feels like. Once, I became magnetic to other people.

Hmm. Perhaps the effects of that one haven't entirely worn off. You seem quite charming at first glance. Did it end horribly?

[He grins brightly, a friendly glow about him. Oh, you.]

The magnetic problem? I guess it wasn't so bad; I was at least never lonely.

[Haaaa.]

Most things in Adstringendum had a tendency to end horribly, but...

We made due, made it work. In the end, Luffy, Sanji, Nami, Chopper... They all helped rescue that place and get us home. Of course, Nami hinted at a vacation with you guys, so. I could hardly refuse such a nice idea.

[Sam has all but sealed his fate. Robin's favorite game is cat-and-mouse, and red in the cheeks marks the prey.]

How fortunate, then, that you managed to arrive between islands. Things are rarely nice once we make landfall.

[And good heavens, Dressrosa wound up anything but leisurely.]

So by now you're also familiar with Trafalgar Law, Kinemon, and Momonosuke, are you not?

Oh, god, yeah. I wouldn't have lasted a second on an island. After Sanji accidentally heavily concussed me, I figured my world's average human isn't suitable for the Grand Line.

[A chuckle.]

I'm familiar, yeah. You guys have probably been pretty busy since I last checked in.

Mm.

You're sure you didn't make landfall on Dressrosa?

One of Doflamingo's family had the ability to make people forget about a person's existence...

[Robin looks perplexed, though. Because if he'd had a run-in with Sugar, wouldn't he be a toy, then?]

Yeah, didn't get there.

I had, um... a lot of business back home to attend to. Potentially end-of-the-world kind, and all that.

Hm.

[Her brows are still furrowed.]

Well then I have no explanation I can offer. I am truly sorry. Did things work out for you in your own world?

[Hard to work out what Nami's thinking. She's either just being petulant or she's genuinely worried about this. Go figure.]

Maybe she's... from an alternate timeline where you never went to Adstringendum?

Or we went home to an alternate one. [So unsure. Does that mean there's a crew who never got her navigator back? But that doesn't make sense--] Though I guess that's kind of unlikely with the fact we didn't turn up in a place where there was already a Chopper or Sanji-kun or Luffy.

Maybe it's the augment...? I hope so.

Hard to say, with how any of these places work.

Keep an eye on her, make sure she's alright, okay? Augment-wise. We've had too many issues lately.
