[Some of the older fleet members may recognize Allen coming on the screen, in his lab for yet again, one of his video messages. He at least seems to be getting more comfortable at the idea of speaking in front of the camera- or more likely from the slightly tired tone in his voice, he's too tired from dealing with the antics of his energetic captain to give many damns]

Hello everyone! For those who don't know me, I'm Allen Walker-, the lab assistant on the S.S. Blue Fish. Just a few quick things today I'd like to say!

First of all, some of you may have noticed odd behaviors from your crewmates recently. The source of this is believed to be some malfunction from our augment implant. Luckily, I've done some scans and while there seems to be unusual activity - I haven't detected any actual brain damage so far! Beyond that, there's a lot I still don't know, I'll let you know if I learn anything else on the matter.

Second of all, due to the coming of the romantic holiday on some worlds called Valentine's Day, the augment malfunctions and the moons in this system- I'd like to go over some things to keep in mind for an easier month:

[He starts numbering them off with his finger as he talks.]

1. Please remember not to eat or drink anything if you don't know where it came from.

2. Some of the malfunctions seem to be causing....sudden attraction to other people that did not exist previously. Please keep that in mind before you make any impulsive...er, romantic decisions.

3. And if you ignored #2 and you decide to compulsively get married, I...highly recommend you check the divorce and annulment policies in this area of space. Just... [He hesitates before shaking his head] believe me on this one. It might save you a lot of trouble in the future.

[Trust him, if it wasn't for the superheroes at Paradisa he'd care a whole lot less about this. But really, thanks to them he rather not be thrown in that lot.]

Well, Superheroes tend to fight human crime. They insist on having secret identities, wear tight clothing, masks and sometimes capes. They very strong believers in a functional criminal justice system and often democracy. And most importantly, they absolutely refuse to kill - no matter what.

[Which Allen is anti-killing too, but...well, there's been times he's raised his eyebrows at how effective their methods truly are.]

Exorcist, on the other hand- fight demons and the undead. That's essentially our main concern. [Sure. That's a gross broad overstatement- but he rather not get into semantics of different types of exorcists with this girl]

[huh, she doesn't say anything to his first list of rules. Interesting, that is an interpretation of it, she supposes... ]

So you're not worried about protecting people or anything like that, just on killing demons?

[HAHAHAHAHAHA SOB SHE GOT IT IN ONE.]

Well- it's not quite like that. I mean, I don't want people to die. And if they're in danger from those things- I'd definitely do whatever I can to save them! Many Exorcists would!

[Though okay...not all of them. And even he took a long time to warm up to the idea of saving people.]

But we're not really suited to be part of law enforcement, no. The police are better suited for that. [Some..times...okay he doesn't have a high opinion of victorian era cops at all]

[hm, she's quiet for an second and stares straight at him... almost as if she's trying to see something in him. The pause is just long enough to be awkward, until she finally blinks and shrugs]

I guess you have a different view of the whole thing if you're not a civilian.

[That....was a very awkward stare. He's very confused by it, as well as kind of nervous. Did he make Exorcists sound too cold-hearted? He didn't mean it that way!]

Ah- I suppose that's true. I'm...not as familiar with civilian views with things, if I must admit.

The way I see it, there are a ton of people with supernatural powers. Either they give a damn about other people, or they're more interested in their own interests.

So... sorry if it's a simplification or whatever, but you still seem like a superhero to me.

[He listens, and there's a pause before he smiles and shakes his head]

No, it's...alright. I can see why people would view us that way.

I suppose...as long as you don't expect me to wear tights or have speeches ready about justice- it doesn't matter that much if you think we're superheroes.

[heh]

Sounds like a deal. [she pauses for a beat] And in return you won't expect me to scream about my baby being in danger, or whatever.

Haha, it's a deal.

[A beat]

You don't...actually have a baby, right?

N-No! It was just an example...

[He gives a little laugh]

Good. That should make it easier for me not to assume you'll be screeching about your baby then.

It was just the first comic book stereotype that came to mind.

[as she's about to move on with the conversation she pauses....]

Wait a second, I didn't ask you what your name is, did I? [and didn't introduce herself either...] I'm Ringo Oginome.

Ringo? [He brightens up, in a way only a nerd can] Oh, you mean like the Beatles' drummer?

[.........so much for that cool superhero image]

I'm Allen Walker. It's nice to meet you!

N-No! Like an apple! [this is only her second time hearing this joke and she's already 1000% done with it]
