[All things considered, Cass is taking this weird as fuck field trip pretty well. She had learned that people could go up into space, and the very basics of what space is. It's been something that fascinated her from an early age and now, any misgivings about how safe it may or may not be are overwritten by how exciting this is.

She's standing up against a window with both hands on it, peering out into the vastness of space with an expression that can only be called wonder on her face.

She's also wearing a skin tight batsuit as she does this, like it's totally normal to walk around in something like that. The cowl is off though. Who needs secret identities when you've already been kidnapped?]

Always liked the stars. I know some... of the pictures they make. The bear, and the spoon. [Otherwise known as Ursa Major and, you know, the Big Dipper. For people keeping track.] Never thought I'd... be this close, though. It's cool.

Oh, uh. I'm Batgirl. Or just Cass. Both are fine. [And then she waves. Like you do.] Hi.

[And she smiles at him, because by now she's learned politeness is something you respond to by being similarly polite.]

I suppose they could call one a spoon and another a ladle.

[That doesn't help, Fenris.]

I have been here a month, but I was in another place for longer before this. A place that wasn't my home world...I mean.

[It might not help, but it makes her laugh. That's close enough to helping, right?]

Is that... normal? Going from home, to... somewhere else, then here?

[Because that kind of begs the question, what comes after space?]

[Sure is, he makes a small sound of amusement himself. ]

No, I do not believe so. We have a few people here, who were taken to other places before coming here, but just as many who were taken right from home.

So it's random. That's probably better... than if there were patterns.

[Half the time patterns lead to serial killers and no one wants that.]

Do you like it here?

If there were, it might be easier to guess their plans.

[Not really, is the answer. He didn't enjoy Exsilium, and it's not like Kirkwall is his home, but his self-made family are there, and they are his home. Varric is here, and to a small extent Merrill, they make it more bearable.]

There are worse places to be. I would rather be amongst the familiar, though.

[She can see shadows of his feelings about his home, about being away from it, and she recognizes them as things she's felt herself. No real attachment to a place so much as for the people in that place. She gets it, and wishes there was something she could do to help.]

Is there a way to... make this place familiar? To make it... look like home, for you?

[He gives a small shrug. ]

Not especially. But I have friends here, that does the job just as well.

That's good. Good friends can... make anywhere like home.

Hmm.

Do you recognise any faces here?

Just one, so far. But I'll learn more. Haven't really ever... had friends before. Will be nice, making some.

[Now that she's not running. Now that she's not trying to get herself killed over a crushing sense of guilt, she can let that happen. She can form connections, let herself love people. It's exciting in a way most things can never match, and she's beyond ready to start.]

I understand the sentiment. I had none myself, until I came to Kirkwall.

[And even then, he struggled with the concept, To have something for himself, something that was his. It took a while to accept. ]

[Again, it's like looking into a mirror, and there's something very sad about that.]

Maybe we'll be friends, then. People who are alone... should stick together. Be less alone.

Perhaps.

[It is something earned, with him, after all.]

[That's something she remembers saying herself, at one point in her life. A maybe that mostly meant no, because she didn't expect to be alive long enough to let anyone get too attached to her. Now, after losing Stephanie and being put in charge of her own town, living seems to have a point. She can do so much more for the world if she's alive, and while she doesn't think Fenris thinks the opposite it's still clear he keeps distance between himself and other people.

So she only nods, and then changes the subject. There's no use in pressing it, not when it would do no good and waste words she doesn't have a good grasp on anyway.]

Should be worried, about being here? Seems okay so far.

[The distance is needed, as far as Fenris is concerned. There's safety in it, and he really does need all the safety he can get. ]

It does not seem a terrible place. It isn't home, but...there are worse places. You should be fine.

[Keeping people safe is what Cassandra has pledged her life to, and putting a little extra attention on Fenris to keep him safe won't be hard. Not here, where things are so small and close. He likely doesn't need physical protection, she can see that just with a glance, but that doesn't mean his heart won't need it.

It's early to decide to watch him, to make herself his friend, but she can't help it. Maybe, if she helps him she can help herself as well.]

Not worried about me. You're right, about worse places. I've lived in them. This is much nicer.

Food could be better, though.

[And he would truly accept and appreciate it. Eventually. ]

Me too, the world I was dragged to before here was awful. This is almost peaceful in contrast.

[That gets an amused huff. ] Yes, the planets and moons offer better meal choices, when you can get to them.

[She likes that huff laugh you've got going on, Fenris. It's a lot like the kind of laugh she's had to learn to do, quiet and more amused breaths out than anything else. It can be difficult, learning how to let your emotions make themselves known.]

Better how? What do they have?

[This is Very Important Information, okay.]

[Oh, how well they would understand one another. ]

It's more what they don't have. Here, we're not expected to fight someone else's war. To play in time, destroy and create lives by doing it.

It's a lot less...worrisome.

[She watches him for a moment, all the emotions passing through him, before smiling softly at him.]

I meant the food.

[Awkward throat clearing. ]

The waystations offer better food, the planets even more so. It seems to differ depending on each one we visit.

[One day she's going to hug you and it's gonna be the best day ever.]

When do those happen? The bars aren't bad, but they're... definitely not good.

[It so will.]

They seem to be there at the beginning of the month, and remain until the end.
