first solo mission
Who: Cassandra Cain
Broadcast: video
Action: marsiva
When: 2/10
[All things considered, Cass is taking this weird as fuck field trip pretty well. She had learned that people could go up into space, and the very basics of what space is. It's been something that fascinated her from an early age and now, any misgivings about how safe it may or may not be are overwritten by how exciting this is.
She's standing up against a window with both hands on it, peering out into the vastness of space with an expression that can only be called wonder on her face.
She's also wearing a skin tight batsuit as she does this, like it's totally normal to walk around in something like that. The cowl is off though. Who needs secret identities when you've already been kidnapped?]
Always liked the stars. I know some... of the pictures they make. The bear, and the spoon. [Otherwise known as Ursa Major and, you know, the Big Dipper. For people keeping track.] Never thought I'd... be this close, though. It's cool.
Oh, uh. I'm Batgirl. Or just Cass. Both are fine. [And then she waves. Like you do.] Hi.

video;
That makes much more sense than I was envisioning. The universe I am from has — or does — something similar with its star clusters, but we don't have a spoon or a bear. Perhaps we should figure some out to make them!
video;
video;
So I'm not actually sure why there isn't one named after a bear yet.
video;
[Wait no back up.]
What's a chocobo?
video;
Yes, we do. A chocobo is a large avian species. We use them commonly as beasts of burden. I presume you've... you have horses? Is that what they're called? In place of our chocobos.
video;
[Now she takes a second to put that all together in her head, big birds a person could ride around on, and it's difficult not to imagine a Robin on a robin. That shouldn't be so funny.]
Most birds fly away, when people... get too close. They must be very friendly.
video;
Mm. They are. They're very sweet animals. They come in black, yellow, and white... The black ones can fly while carrying riders.
video;
Do you have one? Are they like pets?
video;
They can be, yes. I've tamed a few wild ones and a faction of our military does use them as mounts. I've visited the stables often, especially when I was a child. I don't own one personally though, no.
Perhaps when you are sorted to a ship, I can try drawing a picture of one for you. I'm not much of an artist though, I warn you.
video;
[She'll try, though. Maybe it will just come down to drawing them out on paper and trying to remember the stories that go with them, but either way it's something Cass is finding she's looking forward to. For now, she fogs the glass up again and draws out the vague shape of what could be a bird, if you squint. With the addition of a saddle, she hopes her intent is a little more clear.]
There. Chocobo in space.
video;
Just like that. Yes.
[ She takes a breath then, looking at the rudimentary fog drawing with soft eyes. ]
I didn't realize how much I'd really missed home until now. I'd like to learn about your stars more too.
