Some people just enjoy the company, I suppose. I have always been a little more solitary, myself. Too many folk are... overwhelming, for me.

Even your family?

[ Obi-Wan isn't sure how that works. The Jedi are always spread out. He's lucky if he sees some of them in a year. ]

Sometimes. [ He agrees wryly ]

I love them very dearly, and without them the Song of the world is emptier and without joy. But ... six brothers, and innumerable cousins, and all of us with strong personalities! I was used to the noise and bustle, but often needed an escape. Fortunately, they loved me well, and understood my moods, also.

[beardstrokes]

Then I'm sure they will again. They're probably just excited to see you again.

I hope so! Although grandfather may take a while.....

A while is, thankfully, not forever.

Fortunately! But it might take a while longer than I can take.

I hope you do not mind, but I may hide here from time to time.

[ He hesitates and nods. ]

There were two others when I first came here.

[ He lapses into silence after that ]

They were your friends?

[beardstrokes]

We weren't close by any means.

[ He shakes his head. ] This ship has changed a lot since I first came here.

[bythewaves]

Things are always changing. Sometimes swifter than we like.

[beardstrokes]

It was a little too fast for my liking, but nothing I'm not accustomed to.

Some changes are too fast irregardless, I think. But hopefully you will find some stability again, for a while, at least.

[ He sighs, switching the topic. ] Who all are here, exactly?

Of my family?

[ Maglor accepts the subject change ]

My grandfather Finwe, as you already know. My older brother Maedhros, and my younger cousin Fingon. Finrod, my other cousin - and the one most familiar with the Fleet, remains on the Bishop, where he was assigned.

[beardstrokes]

That's quite a lot.

[ Obi-Wan has had people come and go from his universe, but no one he was particularly close to. ]

[bythewaves]

We are a large family. [ Maglor agrees wryly ]

My father was here briefly as well, but ai, it is probably safer for the Fleet if he is gone, or before you know it, he might have modified every ship!

[beardstrokes]

He was a mechanic?

[bythewaves]

No - he was an inventor. I believe in your parlance, he would be a scientist? But he was brilliant - a craftsman, a loremaster... he looked at things at saw the flaws, and then he would worry at them until he could fix those flaws. He was always looking to do better. He usually succeeded, too - though not without mishap!

[beardstrokes]

[ He smiles. ]

Anakin would have liked that. He's a big fan of tinkering.

[bythewaves]

A friend of yours? Are they here?

He is - was my padawan. Sort of like an apprentice. He's on another ship known as the Paisley.
