Who: Cole to everyone
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: Pathstone
When: Now
[Cole is actually looking at the camera, which is a minor miracle for those familiar with his habit of leaving his communicator next to him and pointing at the ceiling.]
How do mortals know what you're feeling? Varric used to tell me what it was, or Jove, or Solas, but they're gone and now I don't know what these feelings are. I can tell how to help other people and how to navigate their hurts but I can't do it with my own.
[He gives a small sigh and looks off somewhere. A fluff slug climbs over the communicator screen.]

If Old Nan would still live he could've trumped her stories with even more fantastic ones.]
How does a person become a...feeling? You do not know happiness? Or anger? [It would make sense. Not?] Mortality is a different thing, ser...

A feeling who became a mortal. Or like one. Gained shape, form, face, facets.

Did someone put a spell on you? I know magic is common here...everyone treats it as if it is something simple like the weather.
[A sneeze followed by a long pause... This truly hurts his head. If a person would be a feeling how could they truly be a person. Because a person felt more than just one feeling.]
It sounds troubling. [To say the least.]

There was a boy, called Cole. He was dying. Alone and slowly and he was scared and he needed someone. Anyone. So... I came to him. I had to be more, because he needed me to be more.
Compassion understood Cole. And when Cole died, became Cole.
It was frightening and confusing, but I've learned about being a person more. And now, Solas said I would feel more and more things, but he's not here to help me understand what they are.

And of course he wonders how a feeling called compassion could take over a human body and bring life to that. Robb never likes it there is something he cannot explain. Like magic.]
You gave life to a dead boy...? [It is only half a question.] And now you feel different things than what you are... [A pause as he tries to understand this a little while suppressing his wariness.]
What is it that happened that made you feel different? Than compassionate...?

[Cole seems horrified at that idea.]
No, this is my body! Not his, his was burned, with the rubbish, so no one knew. This is all me! I just... remember his life. Lived it. Look like him. But no magic. He didn't want to be a mage, so I'm not a mage.
He died and rushed to the Fade and through me and I thought I was him, but I'm not, but I sort of am, I remember being him.
sorry, he absolutely doesn't get it
But whose body is it then? If you were compassion and the boy’s body is burned... Have you taken another man. [Is it necromancy?] How would you achieve such... [Forbidden] ...things.
Did you create a body then? [He looks fairly normal, as far as he can see on the screen.] You know... [Such things belong to black magic and Old Nan told me that is bad.] ...you should be careful with that. Such...abilities.
it's cool... no one does, including him.
Spirits shouldn't be in mortals. Alive or dead mortals, it's not good for anyone involved..
[Without being there, face to face, Cole can't read Robb at all. His voice and mannerisms mean nothing, he can't understand them without his empathy.]
:")
That is warging. [Robb shakes his head and thinks of Bran... And then he thinks about how he and his younger brother have grown apart...] Skinchanging.
[His voice sounds a little sad when he says that.]

[The idea is positively preposterous to him.]
Ghosts are the souls of dead people.
Spirits aren't dead people. We're spirits. Valor, Compassion, Rage, Wisdom, Pride, Envy, Despair... Justice.

Mayhaps in your world you are. But not in mine. [That is the best way Robb can understand this.] Ghost and spirits are one and the same where I come from. They haunt tombs and old castles.
Are the other spirits also able to make a body?
no subject
[So there.]
I... don't know. I support so. If they wanted to.
no subject
Very well. I will not elaborate on that.
[Duly noted, Compassionate Spirit Inside a Body That Looks Like That Of a Dead Boy...]
It is an odd story...ser. [He can’t help it.] I hope you are able to...determine your other feelings. [That was the other problem, not?]

[He says it like someone has told him to say it in these situations, rather than because he means it.]
no subject
Yes. Thank you. [He has no idea what to make of this.] I do not know an answer to your questions, I think. Just ask people if you feel odd. And they can help you, I think.
[Can this man truly be helped if compassion is the only thing he can understand?]
no subject
Thank you. For trying to help.

[Odd complicated feeling-ghost-spirit entity or not, loneliness can be tough on anyone.]
You are welcome.
