Okay, and I wasn't worried. I just think that's cool. Maybe it won't fuck me up like chems usually do either, huh. I've never had magic done on me!

[To the kitchen, then.]

[Misty picks up her bucket and rag to carry back to the kitchen too.]

Well I wasn't sure. Sometimes science-types can get a little weird about magic. Wanna know how it all works, but hell if I know. It just does.

That seems kind of silly. It's not like I know how things work back home. They just work.

Yeah but not many people don't believe in toasters, you know? It's harder when it's something you think could never be real.

I guess so. Maybe it's just easier for me because I know I don't know jack shit.

[She laughs.]

I feel the same way, about all of this stuff. [She waves her hands vaguely around at the ship and the nearby equipment.] Or well, stuff the augment doesn't tell me about anyhow. Do you know how weird it is to just suddenly be able to fix a robot when I ain't ever even seen one at home?

...I don't know how weird that is, actually. [She's seen robots but doesn't know how to fix them, so...] That's got to be really fucking weird. Like... I ended up with an augment that just lets me do what I did at home anyway.

Guess they don't really have a "witch" augment so they just gave me whatever. I mean, I don't mind it... it's kinda cool to be able to do something that I couldn't before and I like helping out.

That actually does sound really cool, being able to do something new. And kind of scary, too. You're really brave about it.

[She laughs.]

Oh I don't know about all that.

Lots of people don't like learning new stuff, though.

I love it - long as it's not like school, you know?

School sounds super shitty, so that makes sense.

What about you? You like learning new things?

I... don't know.

I guess I do, like I liked it when Winter taught me to knit or Charles taught me to play chess. But I keep getting hit with so many new things I have to learn at once that it gets... really not fun.

Yeah, it can be overwhelming, especially here. You ever been to space before this?

No. There's a major debris field orbiting around my planet that means it's impossible to leave.

Wow, really? But you musta had people in space at some time to get all that up there in the first place right?

Oh yeah. I mean, interstellar travel and everything. Using gates. We just can't get off world right now. And the Union hasn't sent anyone to investigate for some reason.

We haven't got that far yet. Just to the moon and only certain people can do it, after years of training and stuff.

I guess you're like from my past, so that means you'll go further and further and have colonies in a few hundred years. It's kind of a weird thought...

Right? Then again, don't think you got magic in your world, so maybe it'll be different in ours.

That's a good point. You could end up somewhere even better! Hopefully.

Hopefully, though I doubt I'll be seeing it.

[They've reached the kitchen now and Misty reaches up to her cabinet to take out a little glass vial. She gestures towards one of the dining chairs.]

Just sit down there and I'll fix you up right quick.

I don't know, maybe magic means you'll get to? [She has no idea how it works, so why not.]

[Wrath gets into the chair and sits, idly kicking her feet. She watches what Misty does with fascination.]
