It's been a few days since Katie and Max recovered her from the avalanche she unwittingly started. It has taken that time for her to feel like she's back in the land of the living and not teetering on some cold abyssal edge; she's still sore, her movements careful and ginger, but she's got her wits about her and she's never been so happy to be warm again. While the ship isn't anywhere near the scorching temperatures she experienced back home, in relation to the burning cold she just dealt with she's grateful for a secure, safe environment.

She's also grateful for the outpouring of help and friendship, evidenced in the aftermath with Max and Tyrion's posts to the network. She wouldn't normally go out of her way to make such a public statement, but she recognizes the effort that went in to finding her, even outside of the one who was finally successful.

The video feed opens to a view of her in her bunk. She's still recovering, continuing to let Tyrion have control of the ship until she's sure she'll be able to handle it (and, perhaps, get a replacement arm for the one she lost in her foolishness). Her face is worn, and craggy from her bout with the elements, but she looks happy, hopeful.]

[She wouldn't be a very good Captain, dead.] Are you new? I don't remember seeing you before.

I arrived a day before your mysterious disappearance. Your . . . crew fretted.

[ Which was a bizarre thing for Cara to witness. It made her uncomfortable. ]

[Ah well, sorry about that. Fortunately Furiosa doesn't get lost nearly as often as the other Wastelander here, so hopefully she won't have to worry about being uncomfortable in the future.]

I did run into some difficulties, recently. I got a good crew, though; ship's still in the sky and nothing blew up.

How fortunate for all of us.

You're on the First Breath, then? I'm Furiosa, usually the Captain, but Tyrion is taking over while I recover.

And Tyrion doesn't seem ready for the job. He was nervous.

Well, I didn't exactly prep him for my sudden disappearance. But, nervous or not, he pulled through.

What's your augment? What can I expect you on? [She's softened over the past year, but she's still pretty straightforward. It's good to know your crew, starting with where they fit into the ship's duties.]

Security.

[ She crosses her arms. ] I'm good at it.

[Furiosa nods, she liked the confidence.] Good, good. Maybe when I'm better you can show me what you can do?

I've been trained in all weapons, save for these . . . new ones. Guns and the like, but I have already started learning.

I can teach you, when the time comes. They can be pretty handy if you know how to use them.

I received some instruction for the handguns. The bigger ones, I assume, will be the same.

Not really. Bigger gun, bigger kickback.

That doesn't bother me.

Maybe not, but it takes some practice to get used to it. It's a whole other beast as far as aim is concerned.

[ Her gaze is challenging. ]

I can do it.

I don't doubt you can. [But can you make a long shot in the dark while being fired at? Because Furiosa has, and she can tell you; it's not easy.]

It'll take me some time to master it, that's all.

Too much of it. I don't know how one is kept occupied here.

It's tough, but it's possible. Getting to know your fellows, I find sparring helps. There's plenty of work to be done on the Iskaulit, people building different rooms there.

Knowing people seems like a waste of time when they will eventually leave.

Mm, I don't agree. People die. It's not any different. Doesn't stop us from getting to know them.

Even more reason not to know them so closely. People die frequently.

I might have agreed with you once, but knowing someone closely had helped save my life. [In more ways than one, between Max and Angharad alone.]
