[Allen looks like he's planet-side on Solrius. He doesn't look injured, but he sure looks like this hasn't been the best of weeks. The area behind him? Looks like it just got hit by a snowstorm and a tornado, all at once.]

Hey! There's a dragon running loose on Solrius- a dangerous one, not a nice one! He's traveling with a man and they're causing damage! If you have information about either of them or their location, please tell me!

If you can fight? Please consider coming down here to protect the local villages! Don't try to take the dragon and the man on by yourself. Otherwise? I suggest traveling elsewhere!

[OOC: If you want to have an encounter with the dragon here's the log! The dragon will be defeated on the 11th. If you really want your character to be on Solrius and NOT encounter the dragon, that's fine too- it's a big planet! ]

No, I'm afraid it's not a shapeshifting spell. When a Seraph becomes a dragon...it means they've become corrupted beyond saving. He was exposed to too much Malevolence- dark energy.

[He can't quite process this. Corrupted beyond saving. It's-- it's walking into a room and finding his master dead on the floor. It's hearing the trembling in Arthur's voice as he describes how Syeira gave her life. It's the last glimpse of Caspa's smile as she closes the cellar door and locks it tight.

I... I don't understand. He was trying to get away from it! I helped him, and then when I wrote him he was recovered--

[He feels like he's going to be sick. Everyone around him keeps dying. This must be terrible for Mikleo's friends, too-- terrible for Allen. Belth should be strong, and he's trying, but all he can manage is covering his mouth with both hands and trying not to scream.]

I know. I didn't think it'd happen either.

[He's not sure what else to say. Since really, there was no good news to this]

He was trying to help a dear friend who'd been corrupted...he was very brave.

[They have to kill him. They have to put Mikleo down like a dog. He's a smart kid, he can hear the words between what Allen is saying. Beyond saving. He was very brave. Belthazar has been good about keeping his tantrums off the network since he arrived, but he's losing grip. He won't cry, he tells himself-- he won't cry, he won't make this about himself.

He swallows thickly and pulls his hands away from his face. Thankfully, his cheeks are dry.]

Allen, can you... make sure that he doesn't suffer?

[Allen gives him a solemn nod]

Yes, I will. At the very least, I'll make sure his soul finds salvation and can rest.

[He swallows thickly. Mikleo can't be much older than him, nature spirit or no. Maybe he'll come back. Maybe he'll come back uncorrupted.]

He... might come back, you know. Syeira did. There should be a way to save him then.

[Bless Allen, he's so calm even knowing what he has to do. Maybe Belthazar can be as strong as he is someday. There's a visible shift in his body language as he takes in a deep breath, squares his shoulders, and tries to be brave.]

Y-yes. We need to focus on protecting the citizens, first.

[He'll pray for Mikleo. He'll pray for Mikleo's friend, too.]

[Well it helps that he has a chance to turn off the camera to scream in a shuttle. Plus he's been through before. A concernedly high number of times.]

Right! We want to do everything we can to make sure there's not more tragedies today. We can worry about the rest later.

[There's a soft noise of surprise as Allen says nearly what Belthazar was going to. The devout pray as such, especially paladins-- and Belthazar, whose adoptive father is a priest, certainly counts. Of course Allen would care; of course he would notice. Belth's heart swells.]

... Hey, Belthazar? I'm going to be heading up there pretty soon. Want me to pick you up? I could use the company.

[And he's pretty sure Belthazar could use it too.]

[Fair is fair. Now that he's calmed down some, Clay's face is a welcome one.]

You-- you don't mind? I need to evacuate the villages, but the shuttle is gone.

I don't mind at all. [He even gives a smile] I need to see the place for myself too, see what we can do about recovery. I don't know how much damage there is, but I feel like it's part of our responsibility to help fix it.

[He always knew Clay was a good guy. He's friends with Allen, after all.]

Yes... I absolutely agree. I need a little time to throw some food together for Allen, and then I will be ready.

[Okay, as tense as the situation is? That gets him to laughs.]

Did Allen ask everyone to make him food? That's why I'm taking some time too!

[BIG. SURPRISE.]

[The laugh is just enough to ease the tension somewhat.] He didn't ask. I offered! I always make him food, especially when there are... awful things going on.

[A pause.]

Or anything is going on, or nothing. I just like to cook.

Hey, I do too! You're a lot better than me, though. How'd you get to be so good at it?

[Belth switches it to audio only so that he can get on food preparations. He's hurrying to the kitchen to see what they have laying around for leftovers. He knows leftovers aren't going to sustain Allen, though; he'll probably want fresh food too, so he's indiscriminately pulling down spices and pots and pans as he speaks.]

Well-- [CLANG] -- I had to fend for myself, most of the time. Eventually I discovered that being a cook or an errand-runner was the best way to encounter gossip and opportunities in high society, so I studied hard.

[Well you know what, Clay's going to do that too, now that Belth's doing it. Off to the kitchen he goes!]

That's incredible! [He says it with a smile, and it's so evident in his voice.] My story's not nearly that cool. I was left alone at home a lot, so I learned how to cook so that I wouldn't be hungry by the time my aunt got home. That's pretty much it!

I-it really isn't that cool...

[He's sure if Clay knew the whole truth, he'd lose that smile immediately. That's why he doesn't mention it.]

Cooking is a useful skill to have no matter your reasons for learning it. There is something satisfying in knowing you don't have to depend on anyone else, and there is a kind of joy in providing for others.
