Hey guys! So, Chris just gave me the best idea... I know that some of us are already stocking up on as many books as we can get our hands on while we're near civilization, and I've already got like, three people I'm going to end up swapping reading with, but what about this.

[she swings around to show the desk and couch, showing the space.] I've got this room, right? Part of whatever my augment's got going on... I could turn it into a library! You guys can shuttle books over to the Bishop when you're done reading them, and then anyone can check them out.

[she starts listing things off on her fingers...] I can catalog them, sort them by topic, make a system so we know which books are going where... Maybe keep stuff like blueprints and maps, too, so that it can be accessed from one place. Oh! And I was thinking of making physical copies of all the network entries and stuff that's stored in the ship computers, in case, I don't know, the network becomes irreversibly corrupted and we need to look up old shit.

[she's so excited. she's so excited. it's probably boring archival work, but she looks like a kid in a candy store.]

In the reverse, if someone out there can make me some kind of a scanner, maybe we can create digital copies of all these books, so I could just send them out to the ship computers if there's a request. Like, someone could just say, hey, do you have anything about giant space wasps? And I'd be like, bam, files sent. That'd be so cool.

That sounds like a pretty good idea, Krista-chan. What would I have to do to get access to this library? Donate a book or two?

If you've got them, that'd help...! But if public libraries are free, I don't see why something like this shouldn't be the same.

Hmm... can't say I have any books on me. Are there specific books you'd want, or books on specific topics?

[He'll keep an eye out for anything that looks easy enough to obtain. He wants to put forth just enough effort to not seem like a complete free-loader. Sigh, it's hard always following the path of minimum effort.]

Nah. They can be cheesy romance novels, if you want. Or comic books. It'd be smarter to get something you're interested in, though.

Uh huh... [Well, that's both disappointing and yet strangely comforting. It means Adachi won't have to put forth too much effort to find his own "donations." But it also seems to foreshadow the quality of reading material that will be available.] All right, well, I'll keep an eye out for anything interesting then. What do you have so far? Wouldn't want to get us anything we already have.

Oh, there's... [she looks over at the pile...] Fiction, non-fiction, some wildlife encyclopedias, cookbooks, star maps, tech books, history books, a couple of books on some sort of physics and math way beyond my grade level, you know.

I didn't, uh, really have a focus when I was shopping... But now I'm probably going to work at gathering up related history and geography of this star system, before we go. Myths, too. Those are pretty helpful.

[Well now, perhaps this library won't be such a waste time as Adachi first feared.]

All right, if that's what you're looking for, I'll see if I can find a few local myth-related books too. Or would you prefer something else?

No, that's perfect. Mythology is kind of my jam.
