Adalwolfe may be a mage but he's never let that mean he's allowed to grow complacent physically. For all he could just stand back and fling spells, Hawke makes sure he keeps in excellent shape. Maybe it's vanity, maybe it has to do with years of apostasy, but when the show starts and he's brought into the ring, shirtless and with his hair tied back, it's clear that he's definitely not a sit in a library all day studying and forget to eat sort of mage.

But that doesn't mean he's any good at hand to hand fighting.

True, he's gotten into many a scrap even before he had his magic, and the times after it was always more imperative that he hide his abilities than win the fight, but when he beats his mountain of an opponent - a man who seems to be made of one large muscle. (Adalwolfe's reminded of a hornless, hairless Arishok with this guy's stature and reach and it brings back some nasty memories. Makes the scar on his abdomen twinge.) - it's only by the skin of his teeth and he doesn't escape unscathed by a long shot.

When the ref raises his arm with the triumphant announcement of his victory, Hawke is covered in nasty red and purple bruises and bleeding from more then a few impact wounds, especially on his face. He can't quite make out the crowd for the triple vision he's seeing them in through his one good eye. The other is swollen shut and there's blood across his nose, in his eyes, and in his mouth, but he still won. And with no magic at all.

He hits the surface of the ring with a goofy grin on his face and passes out.

Recovery; Action

When he comes to, he feels like one giant bruise. Before even opening his eyes, Adalwolfe groans and tries to move an arm in order to... he's not sure, but after half a second he decides that's not a good idea thanks to the shooting pain that fireworks into a grinding agony in his shoulder. Best to leave that for Anders to look at. Best to leave everything for Anders to look at, by the feel of it.

At the very least he cracks one eye open to see where he is, surprised that he feels glad to see the inside of the Three Twins lab. He'd spent too much time in here already fretting but it sure beats a jail cell. Guess they really did release him after he won. Awesome.

If anyone comes in within the next few hours, he'll be in the same position; stretched out on one of the beds looking like an abused piece of produce. It's not so bad as he'd appeared at the end of the broadcasted fight though, and in fact lessons as the day goes on; someone's clearly been caring for him. The cut across his nose remains, however, at his insistence. It makes him look cool.

Care to visit the invalid? Admonishments expected, well wishes appreciated.

Aftermath; Network Video

[Later, when Adalwolfe's recovered enough to leave the med bay and can move without anything more than dull aching thanks to the TLC from his favorite healer, he finally locates his communicator and pops on the network. He's still graced with that stupid split across the bridge of his nose burning an angry red, but at least his eye isn't swollen shut anymore and most of the other evidence of his hard-won boxing match has faded.

Wolfe grins a tired grin out at the rest of the fleet, pleased at himself for having gotten out of all that, though there's a little disappointment lurking behind his expression. He was in prison the last few days and then forced to fight for his freedom, so he's been completely out of the loop. And then Anders told him he'd missed facing off against a dragon. That would have been way better than a boxing match against the not!Arishok.]

So... what'd I miss? I hear there's a dragon, is everyone okay?

[Yo Hawke, it's an unfamiliar figure but one that was in the crowd during the fight. Moxie connections have their advantages.]

Oh, good. You're okay. I thought for sure that big guy broke some teeth or something. How'd you get into a prize fight, anyway?

He might have. I think one is chipped.

[He goes quiet for a moment, mouth closed but clearly feeling along his teeth with his tongue.]

Yeah, a small chip, but definitely there.

[He grins wide as if this is cause for amusement instead of worry.]

I got caught pretending to be Moxie to get into an event so they gave me a ringside seat. Just, y'know, on the inside of the ring.

Small price to pay for a fight like that. [It's totally a cause for amusement. Besides, that should be fixable with the right medicine, shouldn't it?]

Oh, man. No, they take these things seriously here. I had to bail out a couple of my friends already. [Baffling to him, but then he's used to following strict regulations.]

What, really? They let you do that?

[He didn't get the option of bail. Maybe they just thought he'd put up a good fight, who knows.]

Well, whatever. I bet I'll get a lot of coin for all that from sponsors. Everyone loves a good fight. What's your name, by the way?

It was the Spirit jail. They're probably all different. [Just as well, really. Han and Poe are all right in a fight, but not in a pay-per-view smackdown.]

I'm Finn, Security Officer on the Caprine. Good to meet you.

Oh, well that makes more sense. Spirit seems like they'd just slap your wrist and kick you off their turf.

[He shifts, uncomfortable in his bed, but he can't really get up the state he's in. Or well he could, but it would hurt worse than the benefit would be.]

Good to meet you too, Finn. Normally I'm communications on the First Breath but I spend a lot more time on the Three Twins lately.

[Maybe a bit too much information but he's a little out of it thanks to just getting beaten up not too long ago.]

Yeah, it wasn't too bad. [It was actually pretty expensive, but Finn has basically no concept of money, so he didn't mind.]

Yeah? You thinking about transferring? I used to hang out on the Golden, but then we needed a pilot so I asked my friend to come over instead.

Maybe, the Twins doesn't have a comms officer, but I'm pretty font of my captain and first mate. I guess I could ask Anders to come to the Breath but we already have a lab officer and I'd feel bad taking such a fine healer off another ship.

[He wants to though. Maker, does he ever want to.]

Your friend's a pilot?

One who doesn't like to follow the speed limits around this place. [But Finn's grinning fondly.] And the other one I bailed out is--actually, I'm not sure what his augment is, but I wasn't exactly surprised to see him in there, if you know what I mean.

[Once a smuggler, always a smuggler.]

Yeah. Like, I got some friends on other ships too, but the Caprine's where I like it the most. If Poe wanted to transfer, though? I'd be right there with him.

Oh, Poe? Poe Dameron? I met him! He's a fantastic pilot. I've never seen anything like that. You two are dating?

[Finn ducks his head, grinning.]

Since the hand-holding planet, yeah. Made it kind of hard not to notice things, if you know what I mean.

Yeah, I can imagine.

[He smiles warmly. Love is something he really enjoys seeing in other people, and Finn clearly is smitten with his pilot.]

Congratulations. I hope you didn't have too much trouble winning him over. Or was it the other way around?

[Yeah, he still looks pretty self-conscious about the whole thing.]

It was pretty much mutual, but I had to be comfortable first. Never dated anyone before, I mean.

Never? You had to at least had trysts and one night stands, a good looking guy like you?

That is not the same as dating.

Fair enough.

[He chuckles, then winces, rubbing his chest through his shirt a bit with his good hand.]

Easier than dating, though much less fulfilling in the long run.

[Finn nods vigorously.]

Exactly. And Poe was already the best friend I had here before. This is--it's the nest step, if you know what I mean.

[He smiles softly, glancing out of frame briefly, and then looking back at Finn.]

I'd never met anyone like him. He had this light about him, I don't know. It's silly, but even with all the chaos in our lives, most of which we bring on ourselves, there's still this sense of peace when it's us.

[He wonders if its like that for Finn and Poe too, though he hesitates to ask when he's really only just met the guy. Still, there's a bit of a questioning look on his face.]

[Finn laughs. If only it were that easy!]

See, we tend to get into more trouble together than apart. But I don't mind. He hasn't led me wrong yet.

[Wolfe laughs too; Finn's misunderstood just a little.]

Oh, no, we get in our share of trouble, it's just like what you said though. You don't mind it, when you care about the person you're in trouble with.

[I'd drown us both in blood just to keep you safe. Maybe not the most romantic thing Anders has ever said to him, but it's certainly illustrative of their relationship.]

That's true enough. And if I like 'em enough, they're worth getting into trouble for in the first place.

[And in a way that applies to Rey as much as to Poe. He cares greatly about both of them, even if it's in different ways.]

Nice to meet another hopeless romantic.

[He grins tiredly.]

So where are you from?

[Finn has to laugh, though it's in part to cover his nervousness at what should be a very simple question.]

Last, before I got here? D'Qar, in the Ilenium system. I traveled a lot--ever hear of Coruscant?

Not at all. Or D'Qar, or Ilenium.

[He laughs a bit, a breathy thing so he doesn't jostle himself too much.]

I should have known better than to ask when we're all from scattered universes.

The tech level at home is pretty close to what we got here. A lot of merchant ships are about the size of the Fleet, lot of military ones can get as big as the Marsiva. Different kind of systems, but nothing here is too much of a surprise to me except the whole pulling people from different timelines and worlds thing.

But I guess for a lot of people, this is pretty different?
