I'm Hank. It's nice to meet you, Cara.

I don't see how. I'm not very nice.

[both eyebrows shoot up]

You've been nice enough so far.

. . . You must not know a lot of nice people.

[a little dryly]

I know plenty of nice people.

Because I . . . think you've been nice?

[ She looks him over, assessing. ]

I suppose I cannot say otherwise. Though I've never been told I'm . . . nice.

[he purses his lips, then shrugs a shoulder, huffing out a noise]

I don't spend a lot of time like this, so someone asking about what I am and trying to understand it instead of assuming something is - nice. To me, at least.

I don't make assumptions of things I do not know of.

It seems only right to say what I believe.

Mm, there's nothing wrong with that. Not a lot of people do that.

Not enough people. It's frustrating.

Frustrating? Why?

Because they're hard to understand. People want . . . niceties. Comfort. Compassion.

[ She makes a face. ] I wasn't trained in such things. But now I'm expected to know them.

Ah. Well . . . not a lot of people are used to someone being as straight-forward as you seem to be.

[ Even Bucky and Natasha, who are similar to her are not the same. Furiosa is, a little, but Cara isn't sure. Not yet. ]

There are very few people like me.

[he tilts her head, considering her for a moment]

That makes you unique, then. In a good way.

People want compassion and comfort because it's what they expect, but it isn't necessarily something they need. Sometimes they need someone to be straight-forward with them instead.

People are hard for me to understand. Even now.

But you try. That's got to count for something.

I've been informed to . . . give a little more compassion now and then. Somehow.
