[By now, everyone must be used to people wondering how and why they're here, and then perhaps throwing confused temper tantrums over being here. Surely the new passengers ought to be filled with questions for all the lovely people within the Fleet to answer? Or perhaps accuse everyone of kidnap?

After being on the Marsiva, and now being on this little ship, Espio has managed to work his way through what confusion he had, and now he's just... angry. If he could encrypt this somehow, there would be a very angry wall of incomprehensible ranting on the network as he vents, but since his ID number will be associated with him eventually, his anger is condensed into two simple sentences that express none of his feelings and don't help him feel better at all:]

That's the third time. Hope you know I hate every single one of you.

[No signature is given. He doesn't care to identify himself right now.]

[And on the Golden...

The confetti was unappreciated. The pudding... well, okay, that got eaten, because while it was kind of plastic-tasting to him it was still a free sweet. Espio isn't particularly inclined to explore his new surroundings, though. He's kind of still mad at said surroundings. His exploration of the vessel is therefore slow, consisting mostly of lurking in corridors or on the bridge, pulling faces at things, and shooting any fellow crew members an irritable glare rather than doing the sensible thing and introducing himself.]

Maybe you could at least get to know me, and then hate me on a fair basis. My name's Lily, and you remind me of a fr..someone who was a friend of mine back home.

[He's doubtful about that - he's hardly said anything, as far as he's concerned.

Oh, is this the point where he's supposed to introduce himself, too? Oops, sorry.]

Yes, he was quiet and didn't really like a lot of people. In the end he we wound up not being friends, but I learned a lot from him.

[Yup, because Espio's not gonna make it easy. Sorry, Lily! He's not always so impossible.]

You have the surly, brooding angry-at-the-world view he had. Oddly that was one of the reasons we'd become friends.

Why? Because you wanted to help?

[The idea made her pause, the response was delayed longer than might seem normal.]

No. He wanted to help me. We met as kids, we're different than most people, we could do things others couldn't. And he showed me things before we went off to school for magic.

[Espio frowns at the screen, but he thinks he gets it. They connected because they had something in common. Got it.]

Sweet. Completely irrelevant, but sweet.

Not relevant to you perhaps, but I doubt you are a child just finding out about magic and the fact that you're a witch. It was very relevant for me. And this is too, when you se someone having a hard time, someone in a situation you have been in, you can share the burden. I've lost my home, my world, my friends. Not the same, but similarly enough.

[At that, Espio grimaces. It's easy, when he's in this kind of mood, to forget that other people have suffered in similar ways. And he just had this same kind of problem with someone else, only he'd been in Lily's place... in an angrier, more confrontational way.]

I'd save that concern for someone who's actually worth it.

Unfortunately for you, it's not up to you to judge your worth. I make that decision for who I speak with. And unlike you I take a bit more time making up my mind.

[The olive branch isn't going away any time soon, so you'll have to get used to it.]

[He probably will, given a few more days to wind down his little temper tantrum. And, you know, wrap his head around the fact this might actually not be another illusion, because he's not quite 100% managed that yet.]

More than the last place I lived, sure. I might actually be able to live off this.

The protein isn't that bad, I've made a number of good meals with them, and some friends have a vegetable garden for other fresh food. Some planets have more as well.

I've been living on insects and other people's dreams for the last year. Even just the protein is almost a luxury.

Insects I suppose I understand, but how do you live off people's dreams?

The food was imaginary.

Like an ongoing tea party? Possibly fun but hardly sounds filling at all.

It was enough to keep people alive.

Well, we don't have that here. But there are a number of good cooks. I cook quite a lot myself. So if you get tired of regular protein you will have options.

I can cook. Given things to cook with, anyway.

That's wonderful, we can always use more cooks in the fleet. Also it's a good skill to have personally. Do you just cook or bake as well?

I'm not great at baking. I can do basics, and that's it.

I'd be happy to offer some pointers if you ever wanted. It depends a lot on what you like. Biscuits, cakes, pastries, I think baking is a bit more forgiving than cooking.
