[ Matt hates confetti, there's nothing worse for upsetting his senses than over stimulation. So he stands, waiting for the 'celebration' to pass. He'd only been in the last room (ship?) long enough to be moved along to the next, so now here he was, trying to get his bearing through a snowstorm of flying paper.

Once he does, at least a bit, he can focus on the refreshments. It's clearly party food, which seems safe enough, so he assembles his stick and moves forward. ]

I, uh, hello?

[ He clears his throat. ]

My name's Matt Murdock, and I think you all are expecting me.

[ Later, Matt sits in front of the monitor, dark red glasses covering his eyes. He's calm, but it's clear that he's holding back stronger emotions. ]

If anyone seeing this knows me, I need to know you're here. Suffice to say, I have a few questions.

New York. Born and raised. [ -- just in the much much much nicer part of town. ] You've had some pretty high profile clients.

We have... I just, I don't think that I expected anyone to actually know me. This is incredible.

It's hard not to know the name of a stellar ADA. [ -- a pause. ] Well, it is when you're the kind of person who likes to keep abreast of these things. I read the papers. I watch the news.

[avocadoatlaw]

ADA? [ Matt laughs. ]

No, that's not me.

[ladybro]

Could be. [ she watches the screen -- and she relaxes a little, 'cause she figures matt murdock will at least always be blind. ] The you I've seen and read about? Definitely an ADA. But that doesn't mean that the you I've seen and read about is the same you as -- well -- you.

Get it?

You're saying I'm not me. Or the me you know isn't me? Something like that? That's a little far fetched.

[ladybro]

Ordinarily? Sure. But it's kinda par for the course, here. I've met people from at least fiveish different versions of home -- and that's just the five that have some names in common. [ ... ] Makes me wonder which one you're from.

That makes two of us. Somehow the world continues to get weirder.

[ladybro]

Tell me about it. And as far as weirdness goes, this place does kinda take the cake. [ well. she might as well ask. ] Does your world have the Avengers?

[avocadoatlaw]

Yeah. Yeah, it does. I'm not sure if I should be surprised you know that.

[ladybro]

Turns out we're something of a common denominator.

[ we. ]

[ Yeah, Matt doesn't miss that. ]

You're an Avenger?

[ladybro]

Practically. [ technically. ] Not that the name often means much, here. Most of the other Avengers hanging around the fleet come from a world where I was never one of them. Makes it awkward.

[avocadoatlaw]

I'm sure. This parallel universe stuff is going to take some getting used to.

[ladybro]

You'll warm up to it. Trust me, it can't be as hard as passing the bar. I've heard that's futzing tough.

[avocadoatlaw]

[ Laughs. ]

It's just a test. If I can adjust to this as quickly as that, I'll be happy.

[ladybro]

You're already laughing, so you've got a head start on most. [ ... ] Won't lie to you, there's a lot about this place that sucks. But -- it has its silver linings. There are good people here.

[avocadoatlaw]

That's good to hear. I've had good luck with that so far.

[ladybro]

Hear any familiar voices, yet? [ so she knows he's blind. or, at least, assumes he is because the ada by the same name certainly was. ] Familiar for you?

[avocadoatlaw]

Sort of. No one I know personally.

[ladybro]

[ she's something of a private investigator at heart. she can't help but be nosy. ]

Natasha Romanoff, I think. It could be a coincidence, but we may be from the same New York.

She's not from mine. But she is an Avenger. And a little friendlier than the Romanoff I've met in my New York.

[ ... ] But the real surprise is probably Captain America. The version of him kicking around this place is downright pleasant.

Is he not usually? I think that's sort of his MO where I'm from.
