Does anyone have any apples or honey or anything close to either from the last stop? I was...just thinking about it today. [Softer.] Not that I even know how to tell when sundown is in space.

[But she knows it's close to Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year, but nailing down a date would take calculating she can't do based on a moon that's not even here. She's not really a religious person and has some definite issues with god especially after everything she's been through back home, but the traditions remind her of better times when she was young with her family. She didn't think about it much in the last place because they didn't run off of a calendar she was familiar with, but here it brings back memories.]

Anyway, I'd trade for some if you do. We'll work something out.

Leshana tovah. [She's wishing people a good year in Hebrew, but she doesn't bother explaining the meaning.]

I have some dried apple-things for snacks if that would help. I... don't like honey though. What do you need it for?

It's a tradition around this time to eat something sweet to start the new year.

Not a honey fan, hmm? You like other sweets don't you?

Oh yeah, I really like sweet stuff! Just not honey. It... makes me feel weird. So I don't eat it any more. But any sweet stuff is fine?

I've got a couple of bushels from my jobs at some of the orchards! And there's a baby tree on the Iskaulit now, but it's fruiting if you need more! And peaches and cherries too!

Oh, maybe you're allergic. [What else would weird mean?] I could sweeten the apples with something else too. Mom always used honey. [She's hoping someone will have some. She's wishing she'd looked, but she wasn't thinking about it when they were at the factioned star system.]

You do? [She perks up at that. It sounds better than the dried ones Wrath mentioned.] I just need an apple. Well, maybe a few if you can spare them. [There's at least one other person she knows who might want to some tradition himself and she wouldn't mind sharing it with Winn.] I collected a few things on the planet I could trade you. [Ugh, not the meat though. Not mentioning that under the circumstances.] I have lots of nuts.

I've got some honey left in the Center. Not sure where you could get apples, unfortunately.

[There's a long pause on his end.] Leshana tovah, Kitty. I hope it's a good one.

[She knows, she meant just in body too. ;)]

Awwww you don't have to. I already owe you for helping me feel better about Poe, right?

[He doesn't know her super well, but again, he runs the Interfaith Center. This is his lifeblood, and if it'd help her feel closer to her culture or faith, it's the least he could do.]

Do...oh, no, um... [Feeling awkward now.] I'm not really religious. [She was always very scientifically minded but even then she was able to make peace with the two side by side. It wasn't until her parents were murdered and then she watched the world splinter and shatter all around her with such wide-spread destruction and death and utter loss that things changed. It isn't so much that she stopped believing as she stopped trusting God. Sometimes she's angry at him. Sometimes she tells herself he's not there. Never sure which makes her feel better. Though the latter is always easiest around Kurt.]

It's just that it reminds me of home. My parents. [She doesn't feel right taking his or anyone else's time up for that. She feels bad enough about the honey.]

[Erik's message comes hours after Kitty makes her broadcast, and it's brief.]

Oh... that could be it. [It's not. But she doesn't know how to explain it and couldn't if she tried.] You should ask Eugene. He always has like... different stuff since he likes cooking.

[Well, that's totally explained. Probably no super creepy, taste trigger brainwashing involved.]

[She'd been thinking about sending him a direct message and kept starting and deleting and thinking maybe later, but when it comes from him she bites lightly on her lower lip as she types.]

[Honestly, she's hardly an expert herself. There were a lot of meals at key times during the year, but none of them were kosher. There were traditions, but not always a lot of explanation as to what they meant.]

[She managed to get the apples and the honey she wanted, but also found out about Rogue before making it home. She's not sure how to feel, but there's Winn being thoughtful and adorable and clearly confused, but so cute that it doesn't matter.]

Hey you. [She smiles softly and walks up to him to tug his apple down so she can give him a gentle kiss.] Pinkie had apples. Stephan had honey. But this always helps.

They beat me to it - [ he doesn't sound bothered. he smiles right back at her. ] So what do apples, honey, sundown and whatever it is you said have in common?

Makes it sound like I gave a riddle doesn't it? [She reaches up to slide fingers through his hair and then decides to mess it up a little.] Rosh Hashanah. Jewish new year. It starts at sundown but I also don't really know what day it starts on so that's not that important.

Oh - [ it never occurred to him to ask about her holidays. why didn't it occur to him? it should have. he's looking a little sheepish now, he missed his mark. that's not like him. ] Happy new year?
