Who: Winn and you
Broadcast: yes!
Action: Tourist!
When: now?
[ today, winn is coming to you live from the tourist's cargo hold. clearing his throat, he offers the camera a little smile ]
Sup, Fleeters, Winn Schott here, hope space is treating you well today. I got three things to run by you today, I'll try to be quick.
So one, I got - [ he moves the camera away from his face to focus on a box of 10 bears, on the large side. they have been dyed, and colorful patches have been sewn decoratively all over their torsos and arms. when he got them, they were covered by straightjackets, so this is his fix ] these. If anyone wants one, you're welcome to them. [ unless you're a tourist crew member. they will have magically run out if one of you tries to get one. he doesn't care if you can see them, they're not staying on this goddamn ship, ok. ] If any are left over I'm gonna leave them in Discovery One on the Iskaulit for public use in case anyone turns tiny.
[ he turns the camera back to him ]
Two - for those of you who don't know, Cisco and I have been running lectures, concerts, and whatever else people have been willing to volunteer their time for on the Iskaulit, and we're running low now. If you've lectured before and you wanna go again - you're more than welcome to, if you're a newcomer - likewise. Just drop me or Cisco a line with your name, topic, title if you have one, and availability if you actually have a schedule to keep - and we'll add you to the roster.
Three - Hank - don't let it be said I don't pay my debts.
[ turning on the karaoke machine he built with cisco, he proceeds to offer the network his rendition of the dire strait's walk of life. once he's done singing, a little flushed and embarrassed because last time he did this it was with cisco this is so much more terrifying on his own!! he gives the camera a little nod and signs off. ]

He's so lucky he found you.
[ like he's any better. ]

[ It got... Bad about that, after, but - that was the past. ]

he was so embarrassing when he and kitty first met. ]
It really is awesome DNA -

Thanks. I made it myself.

Well done, I think I just turned mine into corn syrup.

I got me one of those now, they're pretty great. Total pain in the butt, but still great.

[ it's impossible to miss the affection at even such mild talk about jim. he may push all of his buttons sometimes, but winn adores him. ]
Having a brother?

[ She nods, leaning back in her chair, almost lounging. ]
Having a brother. Charles was a nightmare, you wouldn't believe.

[ it's actually refreshing, to have someone who doesn't baby him because they still remember what a mess he used to be coming off shuttle rides ]
I think I would - [ his interactions with charles have been...strained. he keeps trying but things always end up strained. and since they've woken up from their comas, he told charles he'd let him come to him when he's ready to socialize again, but he'd be lying if he said he isn't relieved he hadn't had to deal with that yet. ]

I know it's hard. With Charles. That's how I lived for years until I left with Erik.

Being lectured just feels so much worse when your thoughts are the arguments and the whole thing goes on in your head. [ he doesn't hate charles or anything of the sort, he just doesn't want the privacy of his own head invaded by someone who's little more than a stranger, no matter how well meaning he is.
he doesn't think anyone would want that, but he's also extra sensitive to the subject. ]

[ She shakes her head, crossing her arms for a moment and huffing a noise. ]
It's hard, when you're growing up and the only person that takes care of you can read every single private thought in your mind. The problem with Charles is that... He doesn't really know how to work without his telepathy. It's like... The way he understands people. Taking that way from him is like asking him to be completely oblivious. He doesn't mean to be intrusive, it's just how he's grown up.

[ especially when he went right at his most painful spots. ] It did get a little better after we fought about it, though. [ he smiles a little because - even though they haven't met in person since, for a while there - before charles fell into his coma - things really were better. and it was also one of winn's first times standing up for himself, and it was well received - it was a big day for him. ]

[ Raven shakes her head before he shifts, moving to sit up a little more. ]
It's hard. I get it. But... Most of the time Charles doesn't care. And he'll tell you whatever you want just as easily as he can find out stuff about you. It takes a long time for you to get used to it, though... It took me almost thirty years.

I gotta give him credit for trying, he's gotta care a lot to be willing to have that fight with some guy he met twice.
[ winn is a pretty empathetic person, just trying to imagine what it's like to not just see pain in people's body language or choice of words - but to know it - it sounds like a pretty terrible power to have. ]
Besides, big brothers are supposed to be a pain, it's in the job description. Jim manages it without any powers at all.
