[Eithan didn't imagine it. There is something moving through the canopy. Gemini has coloured herself to match the tree bark as she spirals along branches, a featureless 'snake' of goo, stretching from branch to branch and tree to tree with impressive speed. She's doing a little exploring and enjoying the opportunity to stretch after a week spent cooped up on the Bishop.

She might have concealed herself to the eye but her speedy passage through the leaves creates a moving rustle, although when she spots Eithan she stops dead, looking him up and down thoughtfully. A moment later and she's spiralling down the other side of the trunk out of sight and when she steps out a moment later she's in human form head cocked and smiling slightly.]

You should be careful. It's not safe to wander alone on this planet.

[ Eithan's been eyeing that rustling overhead, and when it stops, so does he - wary, cautious... but then it starts up again, winds behind a tree, and... that's it.

For a moment, anyway. Because then, out steps a person! He can't keep the surprise out of his expression, but he does manage a lopsided grin. ]

I'll be okay. Thanks for the warning. What about you though? Wanderin' alone too?

[Gemini's smile fades at that lopsided smile, mistaking it for a leer. Her eyes were already cold before, now they're even colder.]

[ Eithan notices that shift in her demeanor, but isn't quite sure what to make of it, or why it even happened at all. He blinks at her a few times, drops that smile and clears his throat. ]

Yeah. I can. ... Sorry, uh, 's there a problem or somethin'?

Why would there be a problem?

[It's said lightly, but those eyes are cold enough to freeze fire. Perhaps she was mistaken, but she's already formed that first impression.]

[ Sheesh... Yeah, first impressions are certainly sticking, and his of her is that she's just... jumping to weird conclusions for some strange reason unknown to him. He's not entirely sure what this woman's deal is, but he's not sure he's willing to dig any deeper about it. ]

You know, since we've established we've both clearly got a handle on ourselves.

[ ... Apparently being snarky and poking the metaphorical bear are still on the table as options, though. ]

Good. [She's not the most mentally stable girl in the fleet, so not digging deeper is probably sensible. In any case Gemini directs a pleasant smile at the young man, before gesturing casually behind him.]

Yes I'm glad we've established that. Because I think that bear in those bushes behind you might disagree.

[This bear isn't just metaphorical and nor is it small. It might be mistaken for a very large rock, except rocks don't have fur and they don't start moving at the sound of voices. Mmm lunch!]

[ Well, that throws him off. He quirks an eyebrow, but when he hears that rustling behind him for himself, he rolls his eyes and starts to turn around, looking just plain annoyed. ]

Man, my luck's been so shitty lately...

[ He mutters a spell under his breath, and large ball of swirling, crackling, volatile flame appears in his hand. He holds it out toward the bear, intending to scare the thing away. ]

[The bear's sniffing at the two, and after a moment it turns to Eithan, ignoring Gemini as she doesn't smell like she'd be at all good to eat. The sudden burst of flame has him rearing up on hind legs, towering over Eithan with an angry and fearful...]

ROAR

[Gemini meanwhile has been flicking imaginary pieces of dirt off her gloves, watching the bear advance on Eithan without lifting a finger to help, the spark of fire catching her attention too.]
