[ You know, Eithan's pretty much minding his own business, not getting into trouble (for once), sitting somewhere mostly out of the way while he plays guitar and basically just chills... and then that blast of magicpsionicwhatever happens.

It pretty much blindsides him, shocks him out of playing and has him throwing his arms over his head like he's bracing for impact. But nothing happens. Well, nothing happens after the minute or two of just sheer energy pushing all the way through him - and he swears he saw the lights flicker, but maybe he imagined that? Part and parcel of whatever the hell that just was?

He's quiet for a few seconds. ... Then a few more. ... Then, he pokes his head out into the hallway, and so very eloquently asks: ]

What the fuck was that?!

► B. Exploration
[ Eithan's not sure exactly what he hopes to find or accomplish down here, but he keeps finding himself coming to the planet day after day. It feels energizing to be here, and he's pretty okay with that, honestly. And besides, this place is weird enough, there's bound to be something out there worth discovering, right?

Doesn't matter if he's alone, or if someone's come along with him, he's pretty content to just wander and see wherever it takes him. He might not have the best sense of direction, but he's pretty sure he remembers where the ship got left. Yep. Totally.

... Hopefully. Especially since, well, is that something moving in the trees, or did he just imagine that? ]

[ Allen had felt the shockwave. It was a very startling feeling, and definitely shook him up a little. But it was Allen, so of course he was going to focus less on his own feelings and more accessing the situation. He's in the hallway heading for the bridge when Eithan calls out. ]

Eithan! Are you alright?

[deviances]

I-- Yeah? I think so? [ Beat. ] To be honest, I feel like I need a smoke after that.

[ Har har. ]

But there was like this huge pulse of energy... Did somethin' actually just happen, or...?

[ He is approximately 99% sure that that was too huge of a sensation for it to have been just something he's making up. Unless he's going crazy. But here? One never knows... ]

I'm not sure. I was just about to look into it.

[ And Allen remains the best first mate ever. not like he even has anything to smoke but it's good to know anyway~ And he does look a little relieved, since it's nice to know he didn't totally imagine that. ]

[His response is automatic to the concern. Then he thinks over-]

[Eithan didn't imagine it. There is something moving through the canopy. Gemini has coloured herself to match the tree bark as she spirals along branches, a featureless 'snake' of goo, stretching from branch to branch and tree to tree with impressive speed. She's doing a little exploring and enjoying the opportunity to stretch after a week spent cooped up on the Bishop.

She might have concealed herself to the eye but her speedy passage through the leaves creates a moving rustle, although when she spots Eithan she stops dead, looking him up and down thoughtfully. A moment later and she's spiralling down the other side of the trunk out of sight and when she steps out a moment later she's in human form head cocked and smiling slightly.]

You should be careful. It's not safe to wander alone on this planet.

[ Eithan's been eyeing that rustling overhead, and when it stops, so does he - wary, cautious... but then it starts up again, winds behind a tree, and... that's it.

For a moment, anyway. Because then, out steps a person! He can't keep the surprise out of his expression, but he does manage a lopsided grin. ]

I'll be okay. Thanks for the warning. What about you though? Wanderin' alone too?

[Gemini's smile fades at that lopsided smile, mistaking it for a leer. Her eyes were already cold before, now they're even colder.]

I can handle myself. The question is can you?

[ Eithan notices that shift in her demeanor, but isn't quite sure what to make of it, or why it even happened at all. He blinks at her a few times, drops that smile and clears his throat. ]

Yeah. I can. ... Sorry, uh, 's there a problem or somethin'?

Why would there be a problem?

[It's said lightly, but those eyes are cold enough to freeze fire. Perhaps she was mistaken, but she's already formed that first impression.]

[Sokka, of course, feels nothing. The benefits of not being magically inclined in the least. Yay for him. Still, the SHIP took a hit from that, and he's currently on the bridge, trying to get the instruments back online. ]

I don't know, some kind of shockwave?

[ Eithan hears Sokka from the hallway, starts toward the bridge with the intention of helping - if he even can. ]

Knocked me on my ass, whatever it was... [ He shakes his head, like he's still trying to clear it. ] It messed with the whole ship then?

[Sokka flips a few more switches, as the ship stabilises. ]

Yeah, like we went through a nebula or something.

[He looks over his shoulder at Eithan, concern on his features. ]

You okay? Nothing broken?

Yeah, no, nothin' broken. I'm fine. [ He waves a hand. ] It was more like... a mental thing. Hit me like a ton of bricks.

Huh. Weird, I didn't feel anything. ...Nothing mentally anyway. Buuuuut that's nothing new, so.

[ ethan may not have seen much of sansa stark -- as a fellow member of the blue fish's crew, she tends to keep to herself. or to her family, at least. and for the most part, she seems fearful of strangers. but when the shockwave strikes, she can't exactly hide. it catches hold of the ship just as she's walking down the hall, and ethan is the first face she sees when it pops our from around his doorway.

clearly, she'd fallen when the turbulence hit. her back is pressed hard against the hallway wall, and she might be on the cusp of hyperventilating. when ethan asks his question -- and so indelicately -- she's quick to scramble back to her feet, a tangle of silk skirts and red hair. ]

Are we under attack? [ she responds to his question with a question of her own, fear sinking deep into her voice. ]

[ He sees her, and he's already starting toward her when she asks her question. She's already on her feet, but he offers a hand to her anyway, in case she still needs to steady herself anymore. ]

Dunno. I mean, I don't think so? It's not happenin' again, maybe it was just a one-time thing? More importantly, you okay?

[steeledskin]

[ the offer of his hand is understood as a kindness -- and yet she meets it with a sheepish shake of her head. refusal, but not a cruel one. instead, she braces a palm against the bulkhead to stay steady. ]

Took a fright, I fear, but nothing's hurt. [ mild-like. she doesn't want to cause a fuss. ] What a horrible surprise. The ships usually sail so smoothly.

[ He gets it, nods as he slips his hands into his pockets. ]

Good, so long as you're not hurt. But yeah, things are usually fine... Did this happen 'cause we got close to the planet?

It may be. [ sansa knows little about planets. and less about planetary travel. ] Mayhaps we got too close? It may be we are not wanted here.

[ There is, and it's a brightly-colored half-elf. Yuan, too, has been wanting to explore a planet full of mana, and even moreso because of the vague sense that there's something out there that wants to be found. But he doesn't have a weapon, so he's tried to be careful, thus far, not to get too deep into the woods.

Today, he seems to have wandered farther than he meant to, and it's put him a little on edge. He senses Eithan before he sees him, so when he approaches the burning-bright aura nearby, he's already got an orb of lightning hovering over his upturned palm. He pauses when he realizes that what he sensed isn't quite what his instincts told him it should be. ]

...Ah. You don't look like local wildlife.

[deviances]

[ Eithan's own senses pick up on something approaching him, and perk yet again when whatever it is gets closer. But when he turns to look, he... wasn't expecting a blue-haired guy with a lightning ball. Hunh... Though he starts out a little on edge himself, he relaxes when he isn't immediately attacked. ]

Nope. Not outdoorsy enough for that, usually. [ He cracks a bit of a smile, then his eyes flick down to the crackling energy in Yuan's hands. ] Nice spell.

[A wry smile in return.] What, this old thing? Hardly my best work, but it packs enough stun to cover a quick retreat. [With that said, he closes his hand and lets it wink out.]

I'm guessing you're from the fleet, too. Find anything interesting out here?
