[Chew chew chew. Nothing to see here just a normal if slightly big deer, albeit one with absolutely no metal in its body whatsoever. Not even iron in the blood, odd huh?

Gemini's smirking inwardly, rather enjoying the stranger's surprise, trying to throw her voice a little so he can't pinpoint which deer it's coming from.]

Isn't 'knock knock' supposed to go first?
exothermia: (Death is another place)

[personal profile] exothermia 2016-10-11 08:10 am (UTC)(link)
[He scans the field again, flexing his fingers warily. If this was a spirit or some kind of magical being, he wasn't going to fare well in a fight. It could however just be someone getting their kicks. He crosses his arms, addressing the deer. There's nothing else to focus on, unless he wants to start talking to the trees.]

I'm not much of a joker. I don't think I need to be, either; you're enjoying yourself enough.
stretchy_girl: (Gonna hurt you)

You're no fun.

[Her voice is reproachful although she does laugh, finally abandoning her act although not yet the form and turning to face him with an odd looking animal smile.]

Besides I got here first.
exothermia: (There will be rain)

[personal profile] exothermia 2016-10-13 08:38 am (UTC)(link)
[A shapeshifter. His gaze flicks over her briefly as she takes on her humanoid form. If he's surprised, he doesn't show it. It doesn't have the same scale-quality that Mystique employs when shifting - and changing into animals is a rarer talent. The older Mystique could turn into a wolf, he knows.]

So it would seem. Did I interrupt something important? [The last is a bit dry; there's an entire planet here, and staking a claim on some small meadow seems a bit pointless.]

[personal profile] stretchy_girl 2016-10-14 10:33 am (UTC)(link)
[The shift is smooth, almost fluid and now that she's in human form she's looking at him with mild curiosity as she steps closer, folding her arms and leaning against a nearby tree.]

Not really, they were starting to bore me anyway. I'm guessing you can handle yourself if you're wandering out here on your own, that or you're not as clever as you look.

[He settles his hands in his pockets, idle.]

I can manage wildlife, out-sized though it might be. I doubt that everyone you'll find out here is capable, more than just desperate to be in the fresh air.

It certainly does make a welcome change. [Although the conduits of the Bishop were a maze she'd explored most of them already and was already restless before the fleet reached this system.]

How would you do that if I may ask?

exothermia: (Yeah we do)

[He pulls his knife out of the holster on his belt slightly, before clicking it back into place.]

With whatever I have on hand.
stretchy_girl: (statement)

[personal profile] stretchy_girl 2016-10-19 09:36 am (UTC)(link)
[She's looking at that knife very sceptically, one eyebrow raised.]

If the predators on this planet are as big as the prey then a weapon that small really isn't going to help you much.
exothermia: (Yeah we do)

[personal profile] exothermia 2016-10-20 09:11 am (UTC)(link)
It will if I throw it straight into their heart. [He wouldn't even bother with his knife, truth be told. It would be the collection of screws in his pockets, grazing against his fingers even now. The knife he tends to keep for other reasons.]

It won't be an issue.
stretchy_girl: (Gonna hurt you)

[personal profile] stretchy_girl 2016-10-20 10:33 am (UTC)(link)
How very ruthless of you. [He gets a dark smile and an approving nod.]

You've killed before then. [It's not a question and it's obvious she's not talking about animals.]
exothermia: (Another time and another age)

[personal profile] exothermia 2016-10-22 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
[That makes him tense a bit automatically, expression growing pinched for a moment. He's killed too much, too recently, to be casual about it.]

Yes. But not animals on this scale. [Because hunting animals for food is also a truth. He had done it many times, in the other places he'd been.]
stretchy_girl: (Got what I wanted)

[personal profile] stretchy_girl 2016-10-22 09:03 am (UTC)(link)
[That pinched look makes her smile turn distinctly shark-like, amused by what seems like remorse. It's not a sentiment that Gemini herself wastes any time on.]

They're certainly larger than normal, probably still harder to kill than a person though. [She says it almost casually as if discussing the weather, just to rattle him a little.]

I don't think I caught your name.
exothermia: (Out of the light)

[personal profile] exothermia 2016-10-23 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
I have no doubt about that. [Regular people are easy to dispatch, if you know where to hit them. His discomfort passes quickly; no matter his feelings on what happened recently, killing isn't unfamiliar to him. He's an old hand at it.]

Erik Lehnsherr. You have an interesting talent. One I haven't seen too often before.
stretchy_girl: (Gonna hurt you)

[personal profile] stretchy_girl 2016-10-23 11:58 am (UTC)(link)
[There's a certain hardness to the stranger's glare that had told Gemini even before she raised the subject that this was a man who could be extremely ruthless. That's partly why she's still talking to him; the strong survive the weak perish. Why waste time on the former?]

It's a rare gift. [She's preening a little, running a hand proudly through her hair.]You've seen many other talents then?
exothermia: (Without a dream you're lost)

[personal profile] exothermia 2016-10-24 09:42 am (UTC)(link)
[She's wonderfully secure in herself - it's what he likes to see, in those gifted with power. A bit up close for comfort, given how easily she hid in plain sight, but still worthy of appreciation.]

Yes. Both in this place and at home. Even something similar to yours.
stretchy_girl: (Default)

[personal profile] stretchy_girl 2016-10-24 10:29 am (UTC)(link)
Similar perhaps. [But not as good, her tone says, and there's a definite hint of arrogance in her smile.]

You have gifts yourself? [It's a guess, but not entirely uneducated going by the way the stranger carries himself.]

exothermia: (Out of the light)

[personal profile] exothermia 2016-10-25 08:17 am (UTC)(link)
[He wouldn't dare comment, least of all because he doesn't know the extent of her abilities. Being able to transform into animals isn't something he's as familiar with, besides his own long-forgotten skill gained elsewhere.]

I'm a mutant. I control magnetic fields.
stretchy_girl: (chesty)

[personal profile] stretchy_girl 2016-10-25 10:17 am (UTC)(link)
[Gemini's already had a conversation that established that mutant and metahuman were essentially differing words for the same thing so she nods understandingly, settling herself down on another tree stump and pulling up a leg so she can rest her chin on her knee.]

That's an impressive gift. There's someone from my world who can do that too, never met him though. [It's clear from her tone that she'd like a demonstration.]
exothermia: (Yeah we do)

[personal profile] exothermia 2016-10-27 08:57 am (UTC)(link)
[It's the first time he's ever heard of anyone having a power like his, and that's-- odd. What an odd thing to think about. Mutants were all so different, but even with some like Jean and Charles having similar powers... he's always thought of himself as one of a kind. But it's another universe, so it doesn't much count.

In response to the unspoken question, Erik removes his hand from his pocket, holding up a screw on his palm. Within a second, it's shot off at speed, and there's a distant thunk as it embeds itself in a tree.]
stretchy_girl: (Gonna hurt you)

[personal profile] stretchy_girl 2016-10-28 12:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[Gemini's eyes follow that screw as it zips off and she grins appreciatively.]

Very neat. Can you do that with all metals or just the magnetic ones? This one for example.

[She pulls a hand from behind her back and in it is what appears to be a small box made of silver. Or at least it looks like silver, feels like silver but is actually just reshaped rubber. Gemini can't resist playing that trick on him.]
exothermia: (Big game today)

[personal profile] exothermia 2016-11-03 08:22 am (UTC)(link)
[He glances at the box, and notes that he can't feel it. However that's not so unusual for him; he's run into metal in the Fleet more than once that is outside of his scope. Silver is a material he never does much with either.]

The magnetic ones are easier.
stretchy_girl: (Default)

[personal profile] stretchy_girl 2016-11-03 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh I always thought this was iron. Can't be though I guess.

[She turns it over in her hand to reveal the slight rust marks she'd just created. There's a slyness to her smile that suggests she's playing with him.]
exothermia: (How terribly gauche)

[personal profile] exothermia 2016-11-08 10:49 am (UTC)(link)
[He glances at the rust marks, frowning slightly. But when he looks back to Gemini, he merely inclines his head.]

Yes, well. Looks can be deceiving. [As they both well know. Nothing in her attitude suggests the question was made in pure innocence. He's not one to assume as much either.]
stretchy_girl: (framing)

[personal profile] stretchy_girl 2016-11-12 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
That they can. [She smirks, and flicks her hand and the case dissolves back into it with a faintly liquid slither.]

So, do you side with the so-called superheroes or do you use your powers for yourself?
