[That's enough for Erik. He knows Charles can take care of himself, even in places like that. He could say more about the types that lurk there, but he'd rather not. He merely nods, twisting a flower in his grip.]

They are interesting locations, regardless, though I'm not much of a tinkerer.

I've been trading for some scrap metal. [He watches the canopy of the trees as he talks, the patterns of the light filtering down.] I assumed Tempest would need something to actually put her plants in, so I thought I'd do some makeshift pots.

That's sweet of you, Erik. I'm sure she'd appreciate that.

[ His lips quirk. ]

[He snorts, relenting. It's hardly worth being stubborn over, when Charles has the right of it.]

I could make some for the ship, if anyone's inclined to grow something. [Given the makeup of the Heron... it's a long shot.]

Why not? It'd be nice to have around.

Have you ever grown anything? [The Xavier manor had acres of grounds that were rife with trees and shrubbery, he knows. He'd helped plant new ones there once the mansion itself was finished, after all. But whether Charles has grown flowers in a pot is something he doesn't know.]

[ He shakes his head. ]

The groundskeeper always kept the gardens in peak condition. Growing anything never really occurred to me. I always liked them though. And how hard could it be?

That - [Erik tosses one of the flower stalks lightly into Charles's lap.] - is the answer of someone who has no idea.

[ He blinks as the flower falls on his lap before looking aggrieved. ]

I'm not adopting a puppy or starting a greenhouse.

[Erik chuckles, turning the remaining two flowers over in his fingers.]

There's overwatering, and underwatering. Some plants don't cope in direct sunlight. Then there's pests, insects, composting...

Then I'll be sure to talk to Professor Erik if I'm at a loss.

You'll have to let me know when you find that non-existent individual.

There are books on it, in the library, if that suits you better.

You forget that I was the one who gave you books on gardening, Erik.

I didn't forget. [Even if he had only started to put that book to use in their dying days of Kyriakos. It hadn't made the trip back to the mansion, something left for his team to use in keeping up the greenhouse he'd begun.] But the library is what's available now.

[axiomed]

[ He nods slowly. ]

I'll take a look.

Not that I really know much about managing plants on a spaceship. The Windrose has a hanging garden... and there's the Iskaulit, of course.

[axiomed]

Maybe we can make one for the Heron.

[exothermia]

[Erik hums quietly, thinking about it. What the Windrose has is a bit too elaborate and involved. One or two plants would be fine, though... easy to manage.]

Maybe.

[axiomed]

Something small . . . manageable. Ours.

[ The last part is a little quieter, tentative. ]

[He smiles faintly at the suggestion. Whether anyone else would bother with the plants is a moot point. The two of them could manage a couple of pots.]
