SHOCKWAVE (BLUE FISH)

[ sansa took a tumble during the initial 'hit' -- it isn't as though the ship has any lasting, devastating effect but the very flickering of the blue fish's symptoms had thrown her off-kilter. the fall brings with it a scraped elbow, and so sansa can be found monopolizing the sink in the bathroom. she has her sleeve unlaced and rolled up. should anyone find her tending to the slightly reddened, skinned elbow? well, she'll be embarrassed. but she might also appreciate the company. ]

ARRIVAL

[ things have been strained, of late, for the starks. between missing siblings, and mysterious sleeps, sansa is feeling troubled. luckily, she's no stranger to turbulent emotions and so she wears them well -- smiling politely when she greets someone she knows, and smiling not at all when she passes strangers.

eager to enjoy a bit of sunlight, sansa changes into an adequate 'travelling' dress -- avoiding her finer silks for fear of mussing them. she takes a stroll or three around the mesa where they've landed, occasionally attaching herself to the company of trusted fleeters. but generally, she doesn't stray too far from the blue fish. she expends a great deal of effort bodily dragging a cargo crate free from the ship so it can be a sort of seat while she sits and embroiders in the fresh air. if anyone spares more than the most passing of glances, they'll notice how she's sewing little flowers along the front hem of a dark green cloak. ]

[ for the most part, sansa won't be wandering too far. but the right person or the right distraction might inspire a rare spark of bravery. ]

[resnipstance]

[A decidedly Togruta-shaped shadow falls over Sansa as she embroiders. It's Ahsoka, bending over, trying to get a good look at the flowers Sansa is embroidering.]

... Wow. You're... really good at that...

[steeledskin]

[ -- she knows that shadow. better yet, she knows that voice. sansa starts to smile before she raises her eyes. it's a small smile, but it's sincere. ]

Thank you, Ahsoka. [ she doesn't deny her skill; she knows she's good with a needle. ] Good thread isn't always easy to find. But when I have it, [ she draws a stitch through the material, then lifts her chin, ] I am happy to use it. And it seems a less reckless use of my time than venturing into the forests.

[resnipstance]

[Ahsoka moves so she can sit down beside her.]

Geez. You must've laughed when I did that flower all those months ago, if you're this good...

What's reckless about venturing into the forest?

[Said with the sheepish cadence of someone who has definitely been out recklessly venturing into the forest.]

[steeledskin]

[ her laughter is light -- well-stifled. sansa gives her head a gentle shake. she loves the flower ahsoka gave her, perhaps because of its clumsiness. it speaks leagues of ahsoka's friendship, and of the lengths she's willing to pursue for peace. no one had ever been so generous to her who wasn't also a blood relative.

as for the forest! well: ] It's a wild place. I can't imagine it much appreciates our interference.

[resnipstance]

Hmmm. I like it. I feel more energized here than I have done in months. I can't explain it, but... sometimes I feel like it's calling me.

[steeledskin]

[ suspicious by nature: ]

-- Calling you? Calling you how?

[resnipstance]

[Ahsoka looks down at her hands, opens and closes one palm as she thinks.]

I don't know. It's just a feeling. Like... when you hear someone call your name from far away in a dream.

[steeledskin]

It sounds...horrible. [ sansa is as normal as a person can be. the only powers of perception she owns have been hard-won and born through survivalism. but she can put one and one together.

her brow knits. clumsily, she asks: ] Is it your...Force?

[resnipstance]

Well, the Force is technically just the name for the energy of all living things, so... probably.

[Jokingly:] I mean, it'd be pretty weird if I was being called by something that wasn't alive, right?

[steeledskin]

[ aghast: ] It would be a nightmare.

[ -- called to by the dead, or the never-living. she gives a full-shoulder shiver. ]

[resnipstance]

[Ahsoka's gaze softens.]

... You know. After we pass on, the energy we left behind sometimes remains here. Not all dead things are malevolent.

[steeledskin]

[ there are stories about the dead walking north of the wall. stories worthy of nightmares, though she doesn't speak them aloud now. ]

...What happens if we die in space? [ a cold, curious question. ] Do we stay among the stars?

[resnipstance]

The Jedi believe that your energy joins with the Force. So technically, you'd be everywhere. Or anywhere.

[steeledskin]

[ gently, she sets aside her embroidery work. the pin stays stuck mid-stitch. ]

Ahsoka. Do you believe the Force exists even in a place like Westeros?

[ everywhere. anywhere. ]

[resnipstance]

[Without hesitating:] Of course.

The Force is life. [It's that simple, to her.] Where there is life, you'll always find the Force.

[steeledskin]

[ and if the force exists in westeros, then mayhaps the dead persist even there. what is it the ironborn say? what is dead may never die. sansa sighs, and tucks a strand of hair behind her ear. ]

It's a comfort. To think even if the Atroma sent me back home, there might be something there connected to -- this. To the fleet.

[ to ahsoka herself. ]

[resnipstance]

[Ahsoka tilts her head quizzically.]

... You like it here that much?

[steeledskin]

[ softly: ] It's wonderful here. Scary, at times, but -- I would rather stay.

[ she's been honest about this with her brothers. with robb, especially. and he's come around to her desires, promising he'll do all he can to keep them here. together. ]

[resnipstance]

[Huh. Since she's been here, all Ahsoka's thought about is trying to get home. But she tries to think about it from Sansa's perspective-- her dead family members are here, and her home life seems awful. It shouldn't be such a surprise.]

... Well, maybe you can put in a request with the Atroma? Ask them. I'm sure they'd be happy to let you stay.

[steeledskin]

I don't dare tell them.

[ if you tell anyone the things you hope for -- the things you want -- then they know precisely what to hang over your head. or the heads of those you love. ]

[resnipstance]

[Another puzzled look.]

Wait. You realise that the whole premise of why we're here is that they're listening to everything we say, right?

[steeledskin]

[ quick as you like, she snaps a palm against her mouth -- surprised by her own clumsiness. ]

You're right. [ her answer is muffled. ] I shouldn't have said anything.

[resnipstance]

[Ahsoka tries to give what she hopes is a reassuring smile, in the face of her friend's clear distress.]

Hey. You've been here how long, now?

[She slings an arm over Sansa's shoulders, and it's tentative-- like she isn't sure if she's allowed or not-- but still warm.]

It's gonna be all right. Promise. Anyone messes with you, you direct 'em to me.

[steeledskin]

[ it is very much allowed. and sansa sinks against her friend, resting her cheek against ahsoka's shoulder. once ingratiated to a friend, she is affectionate indeed. warm, friendly, and welcoming. it sets her anxiety at ease ]

I'll warn them. [ she sighs -- almost smiling. ] I'll warn them you are my champion.
