Heh heh. [scratches at his cheek; yeah, probably shouldn't.] I won't go alone, don't worry. But I don't want it to get too far either. It's got hooves so...maybe it's an herbivore? Not too dangerous?

You don't know that for certain. The animals we could ride in the Drabwurld had hooves and they ate raw meat most of the time. We don't really know much about this planet, so we can't make too many guesses, not yet. [ God, Sorey!! ]

[monolike]

That's true. [Don't worry, he's not going to running off on a guess. ........maybe.] Well, do you want to come with me then? So we can see for ourselves?

I suppose I could - I don't have anything else planned.

[ Looking down at the print, she considers, for a moment, before she draws her wand and slips it into her tight belt instead of keeping it up her wrist. ]

I can take care of myself, too, don't worry.

Ah, yeah; you give off that vibe. [Also Sorey assumes that 80% of the people on the Fleet can take care of themselves, all things considered. All anybody wanted to teach was Security.]

Do you need anything from the ships before we go?

Well, that's good to hear.

[ Some parts of being a Marchioness and leading people into battle have stuck around, then, and she shifts and moves to push herself up. ]

I have everything I need with me.

[monolike]

Well, then. [That stick must be awfully important.

Sorey smiles and bows his head.] I'm Sorey. Your voice is familiar so I think we've met, but I don't remember your name.

Oh! Sorey! [ Hermione moves forward, holding her hand out instantly. ] I remember, we talked about poetry! My name's Hermione.

[monolike]

Oh! [Beams and clasps her hand instead between his own. Probably not what she was going for.] Chilver! I thought that was you! You know, I still haven't finished that poem.

[brainiest]

[ She glances down at their hands but all she can do is smile. She's had far worse greetings. ]

That's right! And I can't blame you - that's a hard rhyme.

[monolike]

[He's compromising what with all these handshakes and stuff. Bows apparently make people feel weird.] Eh, well, it's more that...the subject of the poem got mad at me. He critiqued my work and called it trite, overdramatic, etcetera...

[brainiest]

[ That makes her laugh aloud, and she turns back to look at Sorey properly, a lift of a smile on her lips. ]

So we'll have to try harder next time?

Ohhh, you'll help me?! That would be great. I really want to write him a poem but he's just so picky and our tastes in fiction are. Y'know, varied. [incredibly varied

but hey exploring and talking about poetry at the same time, let's multitask this bitch]

I mean... I could try? But I've never been very good at writing anything sweet or, um, romantic, so I might not be the best person to ask.

[ Because he wants to write love poetry, right? That's the impression she's getting here. ]

No that's perfect. That's all the stuff he hates about it.

So what can you write about?

[monolike]

Well, he'd probably like something that's not so obvious...something that's like, really vague? Where you're talking about something but as a representation of something else. Not a metaphor...

[brainiest]

[ She frowns, considering for a moment. ]

Well, what sort of things does he like? Generally?

[monolike]

With the exception of romance novels, pretty much everything I like. So archaeology, he likes researching and mapping out genealogy, sometimes paleontology but we don't get a lot of chances for that. Anthropology, history in general...oop. The ground slopes down here, be careful. [Sorey grabs onto a branch to help himself slip down a leaf-strewn decline.]

And you're going to try and make a poem out of that? [ Hermione shifts, a little more steady on her feet than she used to be, and manages to balance herself as she follows Sorey down without hesitation. ] No worries.

[monolike]

I'd like to! Ideally, he'd like the poem too. [Laughs and scratches his nose.] I've given up on the epic poetry saga if my journey, but I'd still like to write something about him. He'll be embarrassed, but if I get it right he'll love it.

Hm... Well, I'm not sure how to help with that. I might be able to offer words, but - I don't know anything about him, do I?

[monolike]

Oh, no no no! No no, sorry, I'm not asking you to, like, write it with me or anything. Just to- oh wow, do you see that?!

[Sorey pulls himself up onto a fallen tree trunk, side-stepping the somewhat larger-than-normal clusters of fungi before crouching down near a particularly unusual growth and pulling out his notebook.] I've never seen mushrooms like this. This is huge! Look it's coming out the side.

I wouldn't mind helping, if I could, even if it's just word suggestions - [ But her attention follows Sorey's, and she moves along to follow him, dropping down to settle at his side.

It's enough to make her grin, her eyes darting back to her companion. ] I really need to tell you about some of the plants from my world.

I'd love to hear about them. [Sorey finishes off a rough sketch and tucks his pencil into his notebook.] Are they pretty different from what you're seeing here? Or more or less the same?
