If Margaery's descriptions are any indication, it must be. Perhaps you will make it there, someday. You'll have to enjoy a glass of their wine for me.

In my world, I have yet to meet her ... but I have seen her from afar. Which, honestly, seems to be how most tragic romances begin.

[He looks over at her.]

Well, as soon as I am not being hunted.

[That's totally not how it works but she don't care.]

Hunted? [Worry creases her brow.] Good Maker, what happened to cause that? If you don't mind my asking.

[Amusement flashed over his face, before he sighed softly.]

[Her mouth just... drops, for a moment, as her eyes go wide as dinner plates.]

Maker's - are you serious? Someone killed him? Wasn't Margaery going to marry him? [Softly, far more worried:] Does she know?

She does, and ... yes, someone did. It was not either one of us, just in case you were wondering. Margaery is far too sweet.

No, no, I would never think her capable. [Regardless, that's got to have caused political upheaval, at the very least.] Do you know who did?

She is not ... [But he is, most wholeheartedly. Her question brings him to pause, and he frowns for a moment in thought.] Quite honestly? No, I do not. I have my theories, but no hard evidence.

Goodness, the death of a king is... I know how difficult that makes things. If you are not sure of a suspect, do you at least have you any idea why someone wanted him dead?

... My dear Riona, I can think of about a half a dozen reasons why someone would want to execute Joffrey, and not the least of which that he was the product of incest. [Is Tyrion's dry response.] He was also a mad little monster.

Like I said, there was a long line of people who wanted to kill Joffrey, for a variety of reasons. I was just the scape-goat. I believe the marriage was arranged before the bride and the family learned of Joffrey's certain ... disabilities. They also wanted to make sure they were secured to the royal family after they supported a king-caninidate who was horribly murdered in magical circumstances.... I could go on, if you want to know the whole torrid affair.

Then Margaery lucked out, it seems. [No wonder she didn't speak on it much.] Morbid curiosity eggs me on. I imagine this is all tangled up in that War of the Five Kings you talked about some time ago? So, one king-candidate died in... odd circumstances involving probably terrible magic, one was mad, and... well, poor Robb. [She shakes her head sadly.]

Indeed she did. [Tyrion arched an eyebrow.] The one and the same ... and yes. The mad one died of poison, if you were wondering.

And I thought Thedosian politics were nutty. [Wow does she feel a bit better about her world all of a sudden.] So where does that leave this war?

I have no doubt they are. Perhaps it is simply a matter of perspective. I am sure I would find your politics maddening. [He paused, then snorted.] I am sure my family thinks they have won it - but Stannis Baratheon still stands, and Danerys Targaryan is right across the water.

Ah yes, Dany. [A princess robbed of her throne.] I spoke with her a bit about all that. What... do you think her chances honestly are?

... Better than most. She will, however, need someone who understands how the politics work in Westeros to be able to hold the throne. That is where I come in.

I imagine having three dragons helps with that. Getting the throne, I mean. [Hopefully they won't have to be used to hold it.] You two will have your hands full, coming off from such a war.

We will. [He sighs quietly.] Which is why I am not sure if this place is a reprieve or a curse. Perhaps it is a touch of both.

I think this place is what you want to make of it. An impediment, a reprieve... even a second chance for some.

I can hope it is one of the many. I fear that some do no deserve a second chance ... myself included. However I cannot deny that we are in a place where we must consider our lives, and how they must change.

[His words earn a frown from her, not liking what she's hearing.]

You deserve one. You're not a bad person, Tyrion, even if you made some questionable choices. [That's what she suspects, anyway, given what she knows of him.]

... trusted questionable people, so on and so forth. [Is his quiet response, but she does get a quiet smile in turn.]

Who hasn't? It's not wrong to hope for the best in a person. Sadly, we sometimes get burned.
