[ She laughs a little, glancing down at her costume and then up to Steffa again, a little bemused. ]

I... Thank you? I mean, I made it myself, so... kinda had to do my best.

It seemed a little better than the jumpsuits from the ships, you know?

Well, I think you did a fine job.

[ right, getting off THAT subject... ]

Agreed. Those are serviceable enough, I suppose, but they're very... drab.

I guess the Atroma aren't really that worried about looks. Or... comfort... I don't know about you, but the beds on my ship are not great.

[ She pauses a moment, looking down awkwardly. Come on, Steph, just say the words. Thank you's not hard - you're not Batman. ]

Anyway, uh... I just wanted to say thanks. For being so nice to me when I first got here. You didn't have to, but it... helped.

[ And she is fine now. Totally fine. Because that's how trauma works, right? ]

[ Well, it's how people like them really really wish trauma worked, so... ]

You're welcome. It was the least I could do, really. [ She's her own kind of awkward right now ] I've-- well, I wouldn't presume to know what you've been through, but I've been through... a lot. And it's hard, sometimes, to deal with that... alone.

[ Aaaaaand now she's going to get off this topic because she's been doing just that even before she arrived at the Fleet, and it's slowly taking its toll and that's depressing. ]

But I see you found friends! I'm so glad.

Yeah, they're... [ She turns a little to check their positions in the room. She's smiling fondly when she turns back. ] I feel kind of bad that they got kidnapped too, but there's no one I'd rather have with me, you know?

Except maybe some of the Justice League, but that's just because they'd probably have us home in, like, a week. But besides them.

Do you... know anyone here?

[ Steffa looks around until she spots Anders, and points him out. ]

Anders. He was... sort of like an older brother to me growing up, though you wouldn't know it with how he acts now. There are a few others from our world, but none of them I knew before I came here.

All of them seem to be coming from a time after I was brought here. I'm not really sure how much I want to ask them about the state of the world, sometimes.

[ She sighs a little. ] Yeah. Tim and Cass are both from... later than me too. [ Pause. ] I think I might have died and they don't want to tell me?

[ MOVING ON. ]

I'm glad you have someone here, though. It makes it a lot less awful, at least.

Ah. That would be a very traumatic event indeed. I don't blame you for being upset.

[ Steffa has nearly died a couple of times. It's... not fun. She can't imagine actually dying and then showing up at a place like this. ]

It does. There was a week before he arrived, and I... it was very... it wasn't fun.

[ right, screw this depressingness ]

So have you danced any yet?

[ Wait no WRONG CHOICE ]

[ A grin creeps over her face. ]

Well I was planning to ambush Tim later - maybe Cass too, she's probably a really good dancer - but no, not yet. Would you like to?

[ Steffa grins back ]

I'm game, as long as you don't mind the possibility of me stepping on your toes.

[ She snorts a little and holds out a hand. ]

I think I'll survive. So should I lead?

[ Steffa takes it with a soft laugh ]

If you know how, probably. I haven't the faintest idea what I'm doing.

I don't usually lead, but I think I can figure it out.

[ She leads Steffa away from the edge of the room and pulls her into a simple box step - not the most fun, but easy to keep up with, easy for Steph not to screw up even while she's leading, and it goes with the music. ]

Don't get to do much dancing at home? ...I don't either, to be honest. [ Vigilante crime-fighting really eats up your social life. ]

[ It's not "fun", maybe, but it's simple enough that Steffa can follow it easily while still talking, and that's easy enough.

If anyone has any thoughts about the two blonde girls dancing with each other, they keep it to themselves, thankfully. ]

I don't. Mostly stabbing monsters or trying to keep the nobility appeased.

[ Steph chuckles a little. ]

That sounds more fun than dancing anyway. The first part, at least. Sounds a lot like how I spend my free time...

Except more punching than stabbing. And petty thugs more than monsters.

Oh, I don't know. It gets messy and tedious after a while. Blood everywhere.

Though, if I'm being honest, I usually didn't stab them. I tried to stay at range, hit them with magic.
