[And the night has arrived! Dorian put out an open invitation, and anyone who is interested is welcome to dress up and meet up for a night of dancing and fawning over each other. Make sure to wear your best, everyone! It's a very special episode of Drift Fleet!]

((OOC: There was an open invitiation, but even if your character never replied or has had personal contact with Dorian, feel free to assume he's let them come along or be dragged along by someone else! I'll be tagging some threads, but if you want a thread to be closed, please just say so in the header.))

[Dorian gives him hlaf a bow, with a smile.]

I'm pleased for the turnout. I was a bit concerned that some might pass over the opportunity to strut about and show off...it heartens me to see that there are others in the Fleet half as vain as I am.

[Ho boy, this guy is just as Adachi remembers him from that bar on Accendo. He had thought that Dorian was just drunk when they first met, but he was starting to realize that this might just be how he acts ALL the time.]

Ah heh, well, I imagine occasions like this probably don't come around all that often when you're cruising aimlessly through space.

I'd imagine not. Quite unfortunate, to be honest. The galaxies could use a bit more frippery and nonsense.

[And he chuckles softly.]

We're only missing a political assassination, and I might nearly mistake it for home.

[Well that was quite the change in tone. Adachi is actually rather shocked. He hadn't exactly pegged Dorian for the dark humor type, just the typical vain pretty-boy. He almost drops his drink.]

A po- political assassination?!

[serpentis]

[Dorian laughs, an honest, amused chuckle.]

Quite common in Tevinter. How else will we finish off the night without someone gagging on their own vomit? If you're lucky, they stumble out of the room before they expire, that cuts down on the cleaning you have to do, at least.

[cabbagedetective]

[Adachi eyes Dorian up and down.]

Ugh, I can't tell if you're being serious or not...

[He then goes to sip his drink, but stops... and slowly lowers it.]

[Normally, Dorian might laugh, but Adachi's response first stirs nearly contempt in him, all of those pieces of him that know that he would never survive more than a moment in the Imperium, and then on the heels of that comes something that is both more honest and learned.]

Perhaps I ought not to be so glib about my homeland's bloody proclivities. Forgive me if I've upset you.

[cabbagedetective]

[And again, Adachi is taken a little aback by Dorian's behavior. He couldn't believe how far off his initial impression of this man was. In a way, it was actually rather engaging. Perhaps Adachi has more in common with him than he initially thought?]

No, no. It's all right. I just- well, honestly, I wasn't expecting it. I mean, obviously, this is the first time you've shared anything with me about your home, so I guess I shouldn't be so surprised.

[Adachi chuckles awkwardly. Then actually sips his drink this time, more in a gesture of good faith than actually thirst. However, he does notice something funny about the punch... He looks up at Dorian as if to say, "Did you do this?"]

I think the drinks are spiked.

[Dorian chuckles, smiling.]

I know, and I didn't even have to do it myself. Maker bless the one who did.

[Well, if he's laughing about it, must be okay then. Adachi sips his drink leisurely. It certainly was nice having alcoholic drinks to help with the more tedious social interactions. Not that Dorian was being tedious. In fact, if anything, he was proving to be much more interesting than Adachi had given him initial credit.]

Aren't you worried about this planet's authorities finding out? I thought they frowned on this kind of stuff here.

[Dorian shrugs a little, softly, and huffs a laugh to himself.]

I was never much one for following the rules to the letter. It would be unfortunate were we to be found out, but...it's no large concern of mine.

[cabbagedetective]

[Fair enough. Besides, the party wasn't as much of a headache as Adachi had expected it to be, so far at least.]

Well, thanks for the invitation. It's been nice meeting other members of the fleet; plus, getting out of those cramped shuttles is also a bonus.

[serpentis]

[Dorian gives him a small bow.]

It's been my pleasure. I thought we could enjoy a night of levity. Do enjoy it.

[Adachi bows back, a little more rigidly than Dorian, before turning and waving a farewell over his shoulder as he heads back into the ballroom. What an interesting guy that Dorian is...]
