It's okay. We can come back, and uh, I've got some room in my duffel bag for some tubers and whatever else we can stuff in.

[His duffel - which had been filled with food for everyone traveling with him - is basically empty now, and he doesn't see much problem in stuffing it up with vegetables and fruit. It's been way, way too long since he's seen them around.]

[Her demeanor is light, and she's eager for the company.]

That is gracious of you, Captain. Thank you. I think we could all use fresh food. It has been a time, even for me. [She may be one of Paisley's newest crew members, but traveling for month in the winter has meant less nourishment than she would care to admit.]
stefanged: (kinda hopeful)

[personal profile] stefanged 2016-10-23 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[He nods in agreement, already placing those tubers into his bag. Once he's done, he motions for Meera to bring him some smaller pumpkins - the one she's looking at? It's nice, but it sure won't fit in his bag.]

Agreed. I'll bring fruit from the Iskaulit sometimes, but nothing compares to what you can get from the ground.

[personal profile] greywater 2016-10-23 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[She isn't expecting the huge pumpkin to actually go back with her. Meera is just glad to be out here, on the ground again.]

I agree. I look forward to being able to make something with it. [She moves to one of the smaller gourds, looking for something smaller to carry.]
stefanged: (well okay then)

[personal profile] stefanged 2016-10-24 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
Mm, yeah, we could make soup and roast the seeds and maybe make jack-o-lanterns, if you wanted.

[He doesn't even need to eat and he's already salivating a little at the thought. God, he's playing human a little too well.]
greywater: (n o r t h e r n)

I'm sure if I knew what that was, it would be lovely. Roasted seeds sound delicious though. [She dips low to look at another plant, passing it up quickly. Eyeing another before turning back to him.]

I could prepare a good squash soup. Don't have the right type of meat, but with some spices-- it could be good.
stefanged: (that's rough buddy)

[personal profile] stefanged 2016-10-26 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't realize squash soup had meat...

[He tilts his head, trying to imagine what on earth she'd add to it. Nothing's coming to mind.]

Could you still try it vegetarian? We've got more than enough spices on board.

It could be made with what we had hunted for the day. [She says this offhand. While many peasants may not have had access to meat as she has, Meera is also a skilled hunter. Most of her people are, living in the swamp area, still in the North.]

But it could be made with whatever else we have, I'm sure.
stefanged: (well okay then)

[personal profile] stefanged 2016-10-31 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, um - if we do that, we'd better make sure the meat's thoroughly cooked.

[He's learned the hard way that these animals are like little energizer bunnies, and he's not interested in writing more crappy poetry. At the same time, Meera, go wild and hunt to your heart's content.]

I wouldn't mind helping, either. I've been hunting here these past couple of weeks myself.

[personal profile] greywater 2016-11-05 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
That isn't a problem, [She says with an all knowing smile. Cooking may not be as sophisticated back home, but she can do well with what she always has. To say the least she isn't picky.]

It would be a pleasure to have a hunting partner. I've not had one since I left home.
stefanged: (slight lineface)

[personal profile] stefanged 2016-11-06 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Really? I feel like most of the people here hunt, if given the chance.

[He tilts his head thoughtfully.]

Just let me know when you go, and I'll tag along.
greywater: (b e t t e r)

[personal profile] greywater 2016-11-06 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Admittedly I have not met many people here, none I have thought about at least-- there are a lot of people from my home. [Her brows furrow a moment as she tries to grab another pumpkin to get back to what she was doing.]

But I would like to hunt again.
stefanged: (that's rough buddy)

[personal profile] stefanged 2016-11-06 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Really? [He's almost envious, but he can note that sudden furrowing.] I knew about you and Theon. Is there anyone I should be worrying about?
greywater: (o p p o s e)

[personal profile] greywater 2016-11-06 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
News from home-- it seems things are becoming bleak. [It hurts for her to say that, but news of Robb's death is still a loss.]

My king has died. I am not sure what I may be returning home to.
stefanged: (concentrating)

[personal profile] stefanged 2016-11-06 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
[Just like that, Stefan almost stumbles on empty air.]

Oh. I'm... I'm sorry you had to find out here. [He rubs his elbows,] How're you holding up?
greywater: (a l e r t)

[personal profile] greywater 2016-11-06 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm okay. I'm more worried for his family-- we're close. Have been since our father's went to war. Every Reed has been loyal to them since the Marsh Kings of my lands bent to the King of Winter. There has not been a King in the North in some time either. [She tries to make easy her history, though it's a little hard to simply sum up the North or her relationship to the Starks.]

I swore an oath to protect his little brother. [Who Theon kept hostage with her. Though she doesn't need to bring that up. She tries to not let the sudden change in topic ruin her mood. Not since she was trying to remember the good days before.]

I'm sorry to bring it up. It has only been so jarring to learn what is happening back home. I know it's meaningless here, but it does not sit well with me still.

stefanged: (that is a fair point)

[personal profile] stefanged 2016-11-08 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
[He takes a couple of seconds to process this - his world's far more modernized, but he can get the gist. The Reeds serve another royal family, and that royal family's legacy is in danger. (He thinks?)

Stefan shakes his head at the end, reaching for one of the smaller pumpkins. This, he thinks, he can take back to the ship.]

It's important to you. I don't mind - actually, I'm kinda honored you'd trust me with it.

[Especially since his world has nothing of that caliber; at least, nothing that involves him.]

I'm sorry you can't keep up your oath, much less figure out a way to deal with it here. I know you said a lot of people from your world were here - were they the ones who told you?
