MINGLE: The Derelict Ship

[After several days of traveling, the passengers are able to reach the ruins of the ship. Explore the ruins, try to find a distress single scavenge, play your hand at Harvest moon and grab some pumpkins- come on in, it's a mingle!

I hope so. The larger the pumpkins get, the more I think something might sneak up on us.

[Even if, you know, his hearing's too good for a sneak attack.]

You don't think the pumpkins themselves...?

[It's not actually impossible where she's from, come to think of it.]

[stefanged]

I sure hope not. [Just in case, he peers at the pumpkins, as if he expects a vine to fling itself at them.] As weird as this place is, a surprise pumpkin attack would suck.

[hearsthesea]

[Shirley's side-eying the pumpkins too. Nothing's moving though - yet.]

Well, let's look around and be careful.

[stefanged]

[He nods, slowing his pace down as they get closer.

The sudden rush of water, however? That gets him to stop entirely as he tries to isolate the source.]

Hey, Shirley - I think I can hear the water. [he gestures towards the east] We should hit it if we're going that way.

[hearsthesea]

[Shirley's hearing isn't as sharp as Stefan's so she doesn't pick up the sound herself, but she trusts his call. He did say he had good hearing, after all!]

That way? Let's go and check it out.

[Off they go!

Stefan's hearing proves correct: within a few minutes, there's a small stream at the edge of the foliage. It's nowhere near enough to be the primary source (and at this point, he's not sure what would be), but it's enough to sustain the pumpkins.

He beams, kneeling down and feeling the chilly water for himself.]

Told ya.

So there really was something. That explains it.

[She didn't really doubt him, really. It is unusual, though, the way the water's distributed. Still...]

I wonder how long this ship has been here, that all this has grown the way it has.

Must've been a while. I can't imagine this sprung up overnight, or even in just a few years.

[hearsthesea]

Neither can I. It could be decades, or even centuries for this to happen. The Legacy itself has been in my world for thousands of years...although I don't know that it's that old, either.

[stefanged]

Right, but if it is that old, why'd we get the distress signal?

[After all, this wreckage is too far-gone.]

You think someone else might've stumbled upon this?

[hearsthesea]

And then they sent the distress signal? But we're here now, so why wouldn't we...

[Oh dear.]

You don't think somebody else outside of the Fleet could be here, do you?

[stefanged]

It's possible. I can't tell if it would be a person, though.

[There were robot butlers. Very, very worn down and old robot butlers, but it's enough to make Stefan wonder.]

Either way, I don't think we're going to find out today.

[hearsthesea]

Probably not, but we'll definitely need to remember this in the future.

[Maybe they're not meant to know everything about this place - it's not like Shirley even knows about the Legacy. But it feels like this place might be significant, somehow.]

Should we head back? I want to see inside of the hull again, just to think.

[stefanged]

[He nods, pulling out his device and taking a short video of their surroundings. Once it's complete, he'll send it to her frequency, as a video message.]

There. Now we've got photographic proof, if we try to come back this way.

As for going back, I think so. Doesn't look like there's much else here.

All right, let's go back and rest a bit. We can discuss what to do from there.
