voice. a quick sad post.
Who: Sam Winchester
Broadcast: fleetwide
Action: Red Fish
When: after a sad shuffle :C
[Sam's very much subdued the day that Dean vanishes. If he reacts more viscerally to it, to knowing that this Dean was returning to his inevitable death at Sam and satan's own hands, nobody'd know it — he closes himself up in his room, keeps himself distant for a little while. It helps, because it also gets him away from those damned echoes that have begun to snowball. He's tried his best to ignore them, and with Dean suddenly gone... he doesn't trust himself to be anything but stressed at the sight.
Anyway. Um. Best to move forward, right...? Get back into things. Working at the bar keeps his mind busy, as does helping with the garden, and there's also helping with the weird messages from the planet, and — dammit, Sam, get back into things. Fake it 'til you make it. This too shall pass, if you pretend hard enough that you're fine. So he breathes in deep, breathes out, and addresses the fleet.]
My brother, Dean, um. Dean Winchester's left the fleet. I wasn't sure how many people knew him, but...
[A pause.]
Anyone want to talk? I could use something to keep me occupied. Your choice of topic, just shoot. I can be a pretty good listener, too.
[Help me get out of this funk, huh.]

He relaxes a fraction when Vash steps in there, and even if he's still a bit tense in his shoulders, he at least feels far more calm than he did in, say, Misty or Nami's presence. What a relief. With a slight smile he nods a casual hello his way. He tries not to look directly at the things going on around Vash, because... he'd look insane. It wouldn't be the first time in his life, just... y'know. Better to at least try to look okay.]
Dunno. Guess I'm entertaining dust particles, mostly.
Bored of staring at kitchen appliances, too?
[It's been a slow day, man.]
Re: [Action]
Sometimes I think I'd rather work the bar when it's slow like this because then at least I could pour myself a drink.
But then I think Nami would fire me for stealing drinks so it's probably better that I'm out in the back. [It's cute that he thinks she'd only fire him.]
[Action]
What, not willing to shell out some credits?
[Action]
Just... you know, they might not know they've offered you one. [Of course, despite his talk he's not actually taking any alcohol.] Lucky for Nami, I like my job too much to accept her offer. [His tone is completely joking in nature.]
[Action]
I would be more worried about her wrath than losing out on a job.
[Action]
It's a good thing I have a good paying job.
[Action]
As opposed to being a bum getting kicked out every other day?
[Action]
And I have to admit, I think having a job is starting to grow on me instead of just being a jobless drifter. What about you? Enjoying being a bartender?
[Action]
I guess, yeah. It's nice to be a little social. And it's way less dangerous than my last job. You?
[Action]
As for me? [He chuckles a bit embarrassed.] Well. Does professional drifter count as a job>
[Action]
I guess professional drifter is close enough to my job.
I, um. I'm a paranormal investigator. I lay spirits to rest and... solve murders?
[also I kill the monsters that kill people but shh hshhhh lets not hurt your heart so soon mr. pacifist]
[Action]
I really didn't do much to help anyone when I wandered.
[Also avoided getting shot at, but meh.]
[Action]
[He raises his eyebrows.]
Really? You seem like you enjoy helping out, though. I bet you're just modest.
[Action]
[And it eats up time. Working out, cleaning weapons, eating, and sleeping can only take up so much of a person's day.]
I wasn't solving crime or helping out the recently departed.
[A pause as Vash thinks about it for a moment.] Do you think we'd ever get a ghost on one of the ships?
[Action]
... It's possible. Ghosts can exist anywhere, in my opinion. Even space.
[Action]
But no one appeared to be there. He looks straight through the woman smiling next to him.
He doesn't think much more of it, perhaps Sam had spotted a bug or something, and turns back towards him.]
Anywhere, huh? So where is the strangest place you've seen a ghost?
[Action]
Dude... toilet.
Guy died on it, ended up haunting it.
[THE WORST CASE RIGHT.]
[Action]
[Action]
Yeah? Well, unfortunately, I've seen ghosts haunt just about anything.
In my world, they need someone or something to tether to, in order to stay among the living. A ring, or their corpse, or a house... something with a deep attachment.
[Action]
So have you see a ghost haunt something out of love? I know I've heard a lot of heh, well, ghost stories about angry spirits.
[Action]
Love makes people do crazy things. Sometimes people don't want to move on.
But... It's not a good idea; ghosts, they'll eventually lose who they are if they linger.
[Action]
[HE WANTS TO BE A HOPELESS ROMANTIC OKAY!?]
[Action]
That can make them last longer as a peaceful ghost, but...
[Usually, you'll turn into something horrible. Or forget who you are.]
I've seen ghosts do some incredible things. Not all of them bad. But I like to think... that being at rest is easier for them. It's got to be exhausting, fighting to stay who you are.
[Action]
[He doesn't sound overly confident. More hopeful.]
[Action]
[:|]
... The thought is there.
