[ on the night of the 28th, the lecture hall will open its gates though it'll look remarkably different. Winn and Cisco would have decorated the corridors leading to it with Jack-o'-lanterns made from the pumpkins gathered at the little patch on the planet. The hall itself will be similarly decorated, along with other traditional scary Halloween decorations made from paper and fabric ( don't ruin the little paper spiders, they took hours to make! ). There will be music from various times of Earth-1 and Earth-3, so don't be surprised to find Lady Gaga playing alongside the Spice Girls! Feel free to make requests or otherwise, just show your skills on the dance floor!

There will be a bar run by Nami offering free sodas, though you'll have to pay for your own alcohol ( remember, don't drink and fly! ). Alongside the bar, characters will find a few tables offering candy from Earth-1 won by Cisco at the game room with a little sign reading TAKE ONE, LEAVE SOME FOR OTHERS and quite a lot of space chips and protein dips as well as various candy from all over the different planets ( cleverly hoarded by Winn! ) and a large selection of pumpkin pies and pumpkin treats. Characters will also find a line leading to Cisco's trusty ice cream machine, though it'll only offer peanut butter flavored sorbet.

At the corner of the hall there will be a karaoke machine with a little sign-up sheet. Characters could sign up solo or in groups and list the song they'd like to sing. Keep in mind though, the entire hall will be able to hear your rendition of Sexy and I Know it!

Adventure-seeking characters will be able to follow signs reading HAUNTED HOUSE and reach a large hall that was turned into a maze by large cardboard blocks painted black or covered by dark fabrics. Making it out of the maze won't be too hard and the maze itself won't be too frightening but will be mildly startling. It'll include some nifty engineered animatronics of witches, scarecrows, scary clowns and skeletons as well as holograms of ghosts! The song featured in the invitation will also be heard here, on repeat. It's a good break from the dancing and for some private conversations and moments.

Remember, costume are mandatory! you don't want to be caught by tonight's pumpkin kings, do you? ]

[ look kate vouching for him is all he really needs. ] I'm sure Cisco and Hank would agree that they both get honorary admission to the Nerd Squad on that alone.

Plus, he's a legit full-fledged Avenger. No more little league for him. [ there's that fondness again. ] I was torn, y'know? Between coming as Wiccan or as -- someone else. But ultimately, I wasn't prepared to commit to Ms. America's short shorts.

I bet you'd pull them off great.

[ it's out of his mouth before his brain ever catches up. he doesn't even know what ms. america looks like, but kate is stunning, he's willing to bet she'll pull off anything. ]

...Thanks for the vote of confidence, Schott. [ she laughs, and then nods at the bar. ] Can I buy you a drink?

[ when his mind finally catches up he's grateful both for the mask, and her reaction. ]

[ he retracts his arm and offers a salute, before nodding. ]

Yeah, I'll take a beer, thanks.

[ although she could pay via her device, kate instead chooses to toss out a few physical chips. she's gotten in the habit of rationing these out to herself instead of paying for everything 'digitally'. it helps her budget appropriately.

and while they wait: ] You guys did an amazing job with the lecture hall, you know. And the party. It's appreciated.

It's totally our pleasure, I think we all kinda needed this. [ he and cisco definitely did. they needed some non-atroma-based fun - not on a planet they chose for them, not in a game room they made, something where they don't constantly have to worry about the hidden agenda - and they needed a good distraction. ]

Did you check out the haunted house yet?

[ladybro]

Not yet. [ she glances in the haunted house's direction. ] I figure I'll need at least two more drinks before I'm ready to sally forth. I might just be sentimental enough to get well and truly spooked, then.

[winn]

[ he picks up his beer, and holds it up towards her. ]

Maybe make it three.

[ it probably still won't be enough, they made it pretty family friendly. it's got a lot of really cool stuff - holograms, moving monsters, exploding heads - but everything was purposely made unrealistic and more cool than scary. they're here to have a good time, not prove their very real abilities to make the whole fleet shit itself. ]

[ladybro]

Three it is. [ then, wryly: ] Didn't put any clowns in there, did you?

[winn]

That would be telling.

[ yes, that means yes. ]

[ladybro]

Oh, hell no. I can read between those lines.

Only if you promise not to go too fast for me, Flash. [ kate can't help it. she grins. ]

[winn]

You sure? I could whisk you away before the clowns pop out - [ he could not. ]

[ladybro]

...Are offering to be my hero? [ she isn't exactly saying no. ]

[winn]

Only fair, you were mine last time.

[ladybro]

We'll take turns. [ hm! ] I like it.

[ kate drains her drink and holds out an empty hand. ] Let's do it.

[winn]

[ one of the many reasons why he loves kate so much; it's a silly game, they both know if there was real trouble she'd have to save him, but she goes along with it without missing a beat, without making him feel small.

he drains his own, and takes her hand. ]

Let's. [ he leads her to the door. ] Ready?

As I'll ever be.

[ the grip on his hand is firm: fingers folded over the back of his palm, thumb snug against the root of his wrist. she drops her empty glass on the table and lets momentum dictate her footsteps, following winn towards the adorable haunted house. she knows she's in for more fun than fear, but it's nice to pretend otherwise. ]

How long did you guys work on this?

[winn]

A couple weeks.

[ and from what they accomplished, you might be tempted t think they really are speedsters, but nope. winn just gave up on sleep! ]

Here we go - [ the moment he opens the door, a song can be heard. the roof and walls are all covered in black fabrics that are in turn covered by spooky but unrealistic looking decorations. clouds of grey, green, orange, and red occasionally pass over the low light - disguised as the moon - going on a little rail, to provide mood lighting, along with the occasional electric candle placed around the path. ]

[ladybro]

[ she can't stop herself from laughing at least a little bit when she hears the song. but it's a good, hearty, happy kind of laughter. kate hangs back by a few steps and lets him lead her through, oohing and aahing at appropriate turns.

until: ] Wait. No one's gonna burst out from behind all that hanging cloth and grab me, are they? Because I will not be responsible for where I kick them.

If someone does, kicking's not gonna do anything.

[ he shrugs, because it'll be kitty and that means she'll be phased. there isn't enough space for anyone to hide in, he doesn't think.

one of the ghost holograms pops out at that, going right through him, and he jumps - mostly for her sake, he obviously knows where they all are. ]

Wow, that's the complete opposite of a comforting answer -- [ she rags on him, though isn't truly afraid of anyone getting grabby in an innocent for-fun haunted house.

admittedly, the hologram gives her pulse a bit of a jump-start. not least of all because, at first, she didn't quite see it until it emerged from the other side of him. ] -- Okay, [ she exhales, ] that was cool.

Don't worry, that's what you brought me along for.

[ grinning at her, he nudges her lightly. ]

Just think what we could do with actual resources.
