Who: Leonard McCoy and ota
Broadcast: Fleetwide.
Action: on the Marsiva
When: Oct 29, morning
[McCoy has a blanket wrapped around his shoulders when the broadcast flips on; he's still cold, by God, and he's not above looking a bit silly in an effort to warm up. There's unoffensive music playing in the background and McCoy's eyebrow is fairly twitching in time to it.]
Two questions, for whoever's listening. [He's read everything he can get his hands on, but some things are better from people he can actually question. He holds up his index finger.] Where in the hell are we? I can't make heads or tells of what I'm seein' here.
[He holds up a second finger.] Where can I get a drink? Doesn't have to be good; it just has to burn.
[These are important things to know.]

I didn't think I had that much but now I'm reconsidering my definition of much - or it could be the sleep deprivation, sorry, we had a Halloween party last night and I haven't gone to sleep yet - and - that doesn't matter - why would that matter? You're new here and this is a freaky situation, I'm sorry, I'm usually better at this - restart? You'll be on board the Marsiva - that's where you are now, in case no one filled you in yet - for about a week, after that you'll be assigned to a ship and I'll be happy to get you that drink myself in recompense for what you're having to put up with here - I'm Winn by the way, Winn Schott - hi. [ little wave. ]
Re: video;
Winn. Leonard McCoy. I'm taking you up on that.
video;
that name rings a whole bell tower.
he tilts his head and frowns lightly.
then his eyes go wide, when he realizes where he recognizes it from. ]
Are you...you're Bones? I'm Jim's friend, I'm his crewmate and - you know what I'm about to start babbling again. [ pause. deep breath. ] You are from the Enterprise, though, right?
video;
... okay, not that minds all that much, but strangers he's never met before don't often just up and call him Bones.]
That's me. I'm from the Enterprise and, yes, I know Jim Kirk. Please don't babble.
video;
[ shaking his head. ]
Anyway. Um, anything you need to know, anything you need, period, if I can do it, I'm your guy. We're kinda crewmates - [ eager smile! and not just because he's assuming you'll be transferring to the tourist no matter where you get assigned - jim made him honorary member of the enterprise. ]
video;
But, hey, if Jim has friends, it's good, right?] I really hope he's at least said good things. [Not that there isn't a plethora of awful things to say about Leonard McCoy.]
Anything at all, huh?
video;
He did.
[ they haven't talked a lot about jim's home because they usually talk about winn, but when they do - jim mostly told him good things. ]
Why do I get the feeling I should have a lawyer present for this offer -
video;
You'll be fine. I won't airlock you for not living up to your promises.
video;
I appreciate that, that would really suck. You got something specific in mind?

I'll expect your call then. Welcome to the fleet, I promise it gets better.
[ it also can get worse, but why dwell on that. he offers a little wave goodbye, before he cuts the feed to crash in bed. ]
