[McCoy has a blanket wrapped around his shoulders when the broadcast flips on; he's still cold, by God, and he's not above looking a bit silly in an effort to warm up. There's unoffensive music playing in the background and McCoy's eyebrow is fairly twitching in time to it.]

Two questions, for whoever's listening. [He's read everything he can get his hands on, but some things are better from people he can actually question. He holds up his index finger.] Where in the hell are we? I can't make heads or tells of what I'm seein' here.

[He holds up a second finger.] Where can I get a drink? Doesn't have to be good; it just has to burn.

[He remembers that, a little. There's a lot of people here who've already been in space for a long, long time.]

Hi Leonard! I'm Takeshi, and I came from earth.

But I been in space for a long time! I think as long as I was on earth. But my last ship crashed.

Yeah? I know how that feels. [Not a fun time. He'd hate to think of a kid have to go through something like that.] I'm from earth, too.

[throwsdown]

You're from earth, but you like to go to space a lot? [He's been wanting to get back to earth so much, he never thought about people actually enjoying the place.] Did you wanna be a astronaut when you were growing up?

Believe it or not, no. I was gonna stay on earth and practice medicine. Life happens. [He has to bite his tongue here, to keep from saying anything about messy divorces and dead parents and sick children; he does have some tact.] I ended up practicing medicine on a starship instead.

[throwsdown]

It's nice that you're helping people, though!

I wanna help people when I grow up, too...

I wanna beat up anyone who hurts smaller people who can't fight for themself!

[Okay, that? That is kind of adorable coming from a kid.] Yeah? I'm pretty sure you'll be good at it.
