[McCoy has a blanket wrapped around his shoulders when the broadcast flips on; he's still cold, by God, and he's not above looking a bit silly in an effort to warm up. There's unoffensive music playing in the background and McCoy's eyebrow is fairly twitching in time to it.]

Two questions, for whoever's listening. [He's read everything he can get his hands on, but some things are better from people he can actually question. He holds up his index finger.] Where in the hell are we? I can't make heads or tells of what I'm seein' here.

[He holds up a second finger.] Where can I get a drink? Doesn't have to be good; it just has to burn.

[ Maglor smiles, nodding ]

One and a half? You will have to forgive me my curiousity, but I would beg for an explanation.

There's a woman here who knows of me, but that's because she's from about a century into what may or may not be my universe's future. [This is giving him a headache. Temporal disturbances, alternate timelines... It's all very idiotic and complicated.] So. And a half.

Ahhh... time issues. I know a little of that myself, although nothing quite so complicated as that, fortunately. I hear this is a fairly common thing here, however, for folk to be from the same world but different times.

Probably best not to think on it too hard. [ He says wryly ] Or ask too many questions, I suppose, although I do believe I am the "eldest" of my people here, in that sense, so I have to more guard what I tell, instead.

[ Although Finrod already guesses, much - he will not lie, and it surpassingly difficult to truly hide anything from the Arafinweans ]

I plan not to give it any more thought than absolutely necessary. Whole mess gives me a damned headache. I don't plan to go asking Dr Crusher about any of it; no guarantee her past is my future anyway, not the way time works.

Dr Crusher? [ he smiles ] Ah, you are from her world then. You must know Captain Kirk then, also.

I do. Kirk's from my time.

Ah! That is well, that you have a friend of your own time here, it makes the situation a little easier to bear. I hope you will be on his ship, but know that you can travel between ships easily, if not, and transfers do happen.

Knowing I can travel between ships easily enough sets my mind at ease on that count.

I suppose tis easier, since your folk are used to space travel, eh? Although I confess the implants do make things easier, in that regard.

[McCoy's hand drifts toward the implant, mouth twisting in a grimace.] Yeah, don't remind me.

[ Maglor's eyes are sympathetic ]

I little like it either. [ He murmurs ] It reeks of slavery. But it has been useful, for I have little knowledge of such technology as this.

So it does. [He says it quietly, thoughtfully. Definitely doesn't like it.] I could figure it out without it; I have the know-how. [A tad belligerent, but... It's disgusting.]

[ Maglor agrees ]

I wish there was a way to remove it but... I suspect the repercussions would be... extreme.

I could look into it but I've been lead to believe it's a bit above my station.

I do not see why that should stop you, in truth. [ Maglor says wryly ]

The implants are occasionally reasonably accurate in the positions they assign, but just as often false. My cousin is a decent cook, this is true, but that is certainly not the position I would have assigned him! So I do not think anyone cares, really.

Mine makes sense, at least. [He rubs his hand over his chin, sighs.] I don't like it, no, but I'd rather not mess with it too much until I have a better understanding.

You are fortunate, then! And probably wise. I do not know if others have tried - but it would not surprise me if so. You could ask?

That's debatable, depending on who you ask. [Say... Spock? Call him wise? At least the Vulcan's not around.] I will. I'll do some reading and see if I can't take some scans of my own somehow.

Is not part of wisdom knowing one's limitations? But I cannot help but think it would be good to have a few eyes to look into it.
