[Is that the sound of explosions? Yes, but not what you'd think. They're explosions mimicked by a young voice, followed by 'bang!'s and 'wham!'s and 'oh no, look out!'s. As Maggie wanders around, she'll note the different crew rooms, and in the captain's room (so eptly labeled 'captain'), she can see through the open door. There's a familiar kid flopped down on the floor, smashing two little warrior-shaped figures into a battle.]

Look out, look out! Protect the people!

[Said people are very crude in comparison, but Takeshi does what he can, okay.

[Maggie would have kept going, only stopping briefly to take a peek now and again, but she recognized him. Of course Takeshi playing was just another bonus. She thought it was adorable and that was enough to leave her standing in the doorway, watching him at play.

She didn't want to interrupt, but she also wanted to get as much information as she could. Who better to ask than the captain?

Crossing her arms, Maggie is content to just observe for a bit, not disturbing him. It was nice to see that even in this place a kid could still be a kid. She hoped that eventually Judith could be the same as he was. Even if the world wasn't right, they could make a new one.]

Takeshi, right?

[Sorry to interrupt, kiddo.]

He leaps up with all the grace of a dog who just escaped a bathtub, eyes rounding in surprise. Clearly the kiddo had no prediction of anyone interrupting his kid's time; he pushes his toys with a foot behind him, beneath his bed, and tries to recollect some of that serious captain vibe.

It's not so successful, and he blushes madly.]

Y-yeah, that's me! I'm me! Did you need any help, Miss Maggie?

[Maggie actually feels guilty for sneaking up on him. He looked almost frightened of her finding him playing.]

Hey, don't let me bother you. Sorry - I just found myself here so I thought I'd do some exploring. I remembered you told me before that you were the captain, so I thought I'd come say hello.

[She smiles apologetically, moving into the room.]

[The veil of embarrassment lifts just a little, at the mention of his toys — or more specifically, of the craftsmanship. He reaches down to pick one up that didn't quite hide under the bed as intended, still rosy-faced but a bit more confident. It's hard to balance being a soldier and a captain and a kid! It's exhausting. But at least Maggie seems very nice, wouldn't judge him for his efforts.]

Y-yeah. I did! I know kids aren't s'pposed to use knives, but I'm very careful...

They're little elves!

[... Or gnomes. It's in the eye of the beholder, really.]

They usually need to be saved, 'cus they're real peace-liking people.

Really? I've never seen an elf before. Except maybe in story books once or twice - the ones with pictures in 'em.

[She won't scold him about the knife. Where she came from there were worse things a kid could get in trouble for, honestly.]

Do they have names?

[See? No judging, no scolding. Just two crewmates having a nice time together.]

[He considers them seriously for a moment, with a critical eye.]

Well... I've been calling them what colors they are!

Is that bad?

Not at all. I think that's nice.

[And they're his dolls so he can name them whatever he wants.]

[He smiles a bit, more comfortable with the idea of her knowing he's a captain who enjoys dolls and playing pretend. It's not that he's shy about it all the time, but for someone who's brand new... well... he just wants to prove he's not some kid who does nothing but play all day!! That'd be a terrible captain.]

We can always give them real names. D'you got any good ones?

They can get strong and become dragon fighters!

I don't think I could come up with anything for dragon fighters, but if I think of somethin' later you'll be the first to know. What kind of dragons do they fight?

Oh, just the meanest kind! I had a princess named Miss Reina, she was a cool warrior figure! She helped fight a dragon but that dragon ended up being nice; her name's Mattie. But the other dragons, they've mostly been real bad. They light trees on fire with their nose-holes.

[He points at his nostrils intensely!!!!]
