It's definitely a skill that can take some time to learn. But it's worth it when you do, especially if we ever get ahold of fresh ingredients. When I got enough credits, I'm makin' us all a steak dinner.

How often are we able to get fresh ingredients? [Just hearing Kaylee's plan is enough to make Jeyne's stomach rumble.] I think I would be satisfied for even some burned bacon now.

At least I will have time to learn before we get more ingredients.

Mmm... bacon DOES sound good, don't it? Heck if I know, though... only stuff I found on the waystation was more protein, and I ain't heard of anybody finding any animals to hunt or plants on the planetside neither.

Does that mean we will have to rely on the waystations? That is rather limiting.

Or whatever Atroma gives us, sadly. If we can find someone to protect us, we can look round the waystation a bit more, though.

Oh, I ain't got any idea how to use a weapon to save my life, either. But there's gotta be someone on this fleet who does, unless they all went to check out that shipwreck.

[This is a ridiculous question and she knows it, but she has to ask anyway. She can easily imagine her septa's response to the idea.]

Is it appropriate for women to use weapons in this world?

It isn't where I am from. It's...not acceptable at all.

Now that ain't right at all. ... well, by my sensibilities it ain't, at least. Women in my world, well, they're soldiers and they work on ships... we even got Companions. They're all trained in all sorts of stuff- music and massage and dance [and S-E-X, but Kaylee knows not to potentially scandalize someone with that] and are afforded a lot of respect.

[She doesn't need it spelled out for her to know what companions are. They're the same thing they are in her world, especially in King's Landing (according to the things her brother said).]

There are a lot of differences between our world.

[She doubted that she would ever feel comfortable with using weapons, but she could appreciate women that did.]

Mmhmm... sure are. But that's what makes this place interesting, too- we can all come together and find out what we have in common even if we're different.
