Perhaps, but that seems a bit unfair. We are all stuck in this position and so many are working hard to keep these ships from falling apart. The least I can do is learn to cook for myself.

[Tempest was at least nice to offer, even if she was likely to become impatient with Jeyne's lack of understanding.]

You mean that fizzy drink? It tasted strange.

That is certainly true. Though cooking anything fancier than vegetables may require you seek out someone who knows what they are doing.

[because she can turn on the oven, she can cook the things she eats, but past that? Yeah, no]

Yes, that. And there is a green tea, but it does not taste much like the real thing.

I suppose I will have to wait until the day comes that I feel brave enough to experiment with my food. I think for now, I only trust myself to heat the meals.

[She knows her limitations and would rather have someone glued that can tell her if she is doing something that could make her sick.]

Better than stale beer and sour wine. There are some things that I am glad are not in this place.

I can understand that sentiment. It is a little daunting.

[she can't help the face she makes at the thought of sour and stale alcohol. She does her fair share of drinking and that it would even exist makes her angry. Watered down is one thing]

Yes, for that I am thankful as well. The bars, at least, carry plenty of alcohol that is decent enough.

There are pubs here?

[She can imagine a few instances when having a drink would have eased her mind since arriving.]

So they aren't in the forms of gel? That is one small mercy.

Goodness, no. Nor is it watered down rubbish, either. And -

[she steps past Jeyne and reaches for one of the lower cupboards, opening it and reaching in to pull out a bottle of something "strong". She has no idea what it's called, just that it'll do what she wants it to]

In the event that one cannot get to the bars, I have this.

[She feels like she has stumbled into a naughty secret, one that would normally gain disapproval and censure. Yet she is amused and feeling a bit giddy, enough to be (what she considers) daring.]

Should we open it together? Have a bit as we attempt to cook?

My, what a wonderful idea. I like the way you think.

[she's a terrible influence and she can't bring herself to care. Cooking while drinking spells disaster and yet]

I imagine this will at least make the paste taste rather good.

[It was better than nothing.

She grabbed two glasses for them, offering them out to her.]

One can hope.

[she cracks open the bottle with practiced ease, and pours each of them a glass]
