[Fenris glances at the book, it's one of the really terrible Scotsman romance books he got in a sponsor drop forever ago. It's probably called something terrible like Highland Fling. He clears his throat. ]

Um. It's an old book a friend left to me.

[Technically, Cassandra did leave him a lot of books, so it's not really a lie, right? Just going to...casually move onwards from that. ]

All Thedosian elves can see in the dark. I never really thought about it.

[ Kirk bites his lip when he catches sight of the cover in the dark, because all right Fenris, that was a pretty ridiculous choice, but he can understand wanting to keep hold of it. He is trying not to laugh, though it is a difficult thing. It's certainly not something he would expect Fenris to read, of all people, but then even the grouchiest sort had a soft side, no? ]

Well, how far you into it? Having any trouble?

[ He just blithely accepts Fenris' explanation of his sight, because who was he to argue it? See in the dark? That's cool. Make a note and move on, though the eye glow was still not something he was sure he could ever get used to. ]

[Fenris either doesn't notice Kirk's mirth, or he deigns not to draw attention to it. It's hard to tell. He give a small shrug. ]

About a quarter of the way. It is...an easier book to read than most. Not very wordy.

Makes sense.

You know, for a writing exercise, you could try copying paragraphs from the books. It will help you with your letters and it's good for reading comprehension too.

...That is not a bad idea. It is at least less dull than most of the tomes I practise with.

[Endless cantations or dull verses. This...this is much better. ]

I shall have to remember that.

You're welcome.

[ He takes a seat more beside him now, leaning over to consider the pages. ]

I have a few you can borrow - books, that is. And if you want, I'm sure we can load up a data pad with a lot of books for you. Most will have software that can help you when you're stuck on words too.

[Fenris considers that, before giving a nod. ]

That would be...very useful, yes. We do not have such things back home, but I suppose I have been away long enough to feel comfortable with using the technology at my disposal.
