[ the video feed turns on to a child, no more than ten. he doesn't say a word at first and spends a few minutes curiously poking and prodding, shuffling the communication device around. he opens his mouth wide and the camera gets a nice view of his tonsils.

there are more pokes and shuffling when it's his full face again. ] This is so new and weird, it must be from the Core. I've never seen anything like this before...!

[ he yells into it. ]

Hello! Is this thing working? Where is this ship heading?

[ ACTION; on paisley ]
[ he has to be very quiet. and he's good at being quiet. he's snuck around watto so many times now, sneaking around is practically a honed skill. it's really cold here, though, and he's not used to that at all.

as he makes his way through paisley, he tries to find the warmest spot on the ship. he bumbles through the kitchen quietly, trying not to get caught by anyone that might be in there. and he eventually ends up finding the crew rooms. he doesn't know who's is who's. all he knows is he's in space, onboard a ship traveling in space! off tatooine! he enters the first room and wraps himself in the blankets found there. hopefully no one misses their blankets.

he takes off with the makeshift wrap and works his way through the rest of ship, making quiet pitstops here and there. he marvels at the pilot station, gawks at the engineering lab a bit then scurry quickly to the cargo bay where it's big and spacious and no one could possibly find a kid there. ]

I'm in a room. It has a lot of scrap metal on the floor. I woke up here! [ in case his new master thought he wandered around ] Is this supposed to be my room, sir?

[ Obi-Wan winces. He had hoped that there'd be some small spark of recognition, but that seems unlikely. ]

Uhm. Can I ask you another question? Where's my mom?

[Ahsoka chuckles.]

No need to yell. It works just fine. It's just like a comm.

[Unlike Obi-Wan, Ahsoka doesn't recognize Anakin immediately. Why would she? This kid looks nothing like the old master she knows.]

It's not like any comm I've ever seen! It's much nicer, but it's bigger. It's big, isn't it? All the junk I worked with are smaller than this. Why do you think it's that big? I wonder if I can take it apart...

The technology here is kind of... strange.

We're a long way away from the Core. Everything's bound to be a bit different. I wouldn't recommend taking apart your communicator, though. Otherwise, how are people going to contact you?

[She gives him a cheeky eyebrow raise.]

[ he grins, puffing his chest out ]

I can make it work again! I've been fixing comms since I was five. My mom taught me the basics. She told me it makes our master nicer to us because we're more useful.

[There's no mistaking his meaning-- he definitely isn't talking about a master in the Jedi sense of the word. A memory comes to Ahsoka, unbidden-- a similar situation, almost a year ago now. A slave girl called Koala who had found herself here.]

Well, you don't need to worry about that here, I promise. Your master, whoever he is, isn't here.

I didn't mean to shout. There wasn't anyone around when I woke up, I thought there wasn't anyone else on this ship.

Why is it unknown? How do you calculate the amount of fuel you need if you don't know?

There's plenty of people around. The ship you're on is part of a much larger fleet.

The systems automatically calculate it. We always seem to have enough to get from planet to planet.

Hey, which ship are you on? What's it like? Mine's- I think this is mine anyway- it's very clean. Can you see the other ships in the fleet from the viewport?

I'm sure they think so. There should be a protein dispenser in the kitchen of your ship. Some crews keep foodstuffs from other planets as an alternative.

[ Boy, he asks a lot of questions, doesn't he? ]

I am on the SS Heron. Most ships are similar, but there are cosmetic differences. If you go to the bridge, there is a large window. You should be able to see some of the fleet from it.

[ Padmé is fond of hopping from ship to ship. The shuttles are easy enough to fly and, frankly, she's getting restless. She needs to find a way back-- her entire planet depends upon her meeting with the Senate.

She's given up on looking for familiar faces. Instead, she's trying to find a star map or information on the ships themselves or the people working for the people who captured her. They haven't made demands yet, but that doesn't mean they won't.

Today, she's trying the Paisely. Padmé tries to play the part of a handmaiden as best as she can. She doesn't move with the same rigidity Amidala does. While Amidala is meant to be the center of attention, Padmé is meant to be hidden, which entails keeping her head down and trying not to look too interesting.

Which is a bit hard when she's wearing an orange-and-yellow handmaiden's outfit on an unfamiliar ship but there we are.

In any case, she passes through the kitchen and spots a familiar blonde boy. Padmé pauses only for a moment to verify that, yes, it is him. Then she smiles. ]

Ani! I didn't know you were here. Are you alright?

[ anakin fix her a curious stare. he doesn't know her but he's heard that one really nice deep space pilot tell him stories.

I guess I am. [ he stares into the bowl of odd protein cubes in front of him. ] Do you want some?

[ Padmé frowns in concern. He looks okay, but he doesn't seem to recognize her. ]

No, thank you. Are you sure you're alright, Ani? You seem a little off.

[ he gets up and goes to her to reassure her. ]

I am. [ he takes her hand and brings her to sit with him ] I don't know you though. But I feel like I should.
