[She came, she saw, she stole a bunch of stuff, she left. Makie isn't surprised by Lilly vanishing so quickly, and in some ways she thinks it's better-- these ships are too stark, too cooped up, for such a free-roaming child. She tells herself that. It's fine. It's fine.

It's not fine.

The broadcast is from Lilly's room, where Lilly's own things have gone-- leaving the leftover mess on the floor, bits of clothing, other stolen belongings. They're taken from across the Fleet, and Makie reaches down to tug a shirt free, folding it neatly. She'll organise this stuff. But she turned on the broadcast for a reason.]

If any of these items belong to you, please tell me. [Her voice sounds hollow to her own ears, and she pauses. Much quieter:] I'll arrange to get them back to you.

[She'll leave the feed on at least long enough for people to look over what's strewn around the floor. And then she'll stay in the room, sorting through the mess mechanically. It gives her something to do.

[She's only been here for a handful of months, so it's reassuring at the very least. Even if it's something she needs to adapt to seeing if she wants to be a hero by trade.

I grew up in the Mie area, in Kansai. We kind of moved all over the place.

[Kansai is familiar, though Mie is not. She wonders if it's because her education is lacking or Mie was simply known by another name. Either or.] Your family are... merchants?

[Taking an old-fashioned guess. IDK what do people do in the mystical future?]

Building is truly valued work. I know architecture has changed greatly since my day. There are really tall buildings in your time, aren't there?

Really tall, yeah! Hundreds of meters tall, with floors stacked on floors... thank goodness we have elevators.

Yeah! Like a machine that will carry you from floor to floor. It's faster and more direct than stairs.

Oh, I am familiar with those. Though not until I came here. [Dem space stations and whatnot are riddled with elevators.]

How much of the technology in this place is familiar to you?

Mmm... most of it is similar to what I know, or at least what exists somewhere in the world. The communicators are a lot like everyday phones, we've been to space but we can't travel to different galaxies... some people can teleport from place to place, but that's a superpower, not technology.

Ah. Another world with odd powers, then. If there's any such thing in my world, it's well hidden.

[She comes from a world where someone is immortal because they're stuffed with worms but look, that's one guy, okay.

[Ochako barely bats an eye, if that helps her any on the prying part of the equation. She merely reaches down between them and touches the tips of her fingers to one of the random little baubles left on the floor, and when she lets go, it begins to float.]

Uh-huh. It's called Zero Gravity.

[Blink. She stares at the floating bauble for a moment, head tilting.

...huh. Lilly would have loved that.

She reaches out and touches a finger lightly to it, fascinated.] Can you make anything float?

Up to three tonnes, yeah. After that it gets way too heavy and I pass out.

Do you ever have call to lift that much?

[Please don't pass out she'll fret :c]

Um... a couple of times, I pushed myself back home. But that's how you get stronger, right? If you stay within your limits, you'll never grow.

That's right. Does that mean that if you continue to push yourself, you could lift more than that one day?

Well, I'd like to. I don't know if it's possible, but I'm gonna try.

[Not really. Just her own curiosity. Fifteen was coming of age in her time, so. She smiles.]

Is there something you wish to do in life with the application of that skill?

Uh-huh! I want to be a hero back home, and earn a living by rescuing people!
