[Tyrion is looking at a wrapped ... something sitting atop his worktable in the Engineering room, mis-matched eyes narrowed as he poked at it gingerly. It was brightly wrapped, clearly done by hand with fancy paper and that wonderous device known as tape.
Tyrion kept poking at it like it might bite him.]
...so just out of curiosity, what precisely is going on this time of year for most of you? There seems to be a lot of ... giving recently.
[He really just wants to make sure no one has gotten some sort of alien disease. Really.]

[Winter, where he came from, was a sign of very bad things to come. He prodded the gift again.]
And this gift is ... from a friend?
video
And more than likely, it is. Friends and family exchange gifts normally, since those are the people who would know best what kind of gift you would like.

[ A consumer company's dream, but he'll focus on the nice parts. ]

[He prodded the gift again.]

There's some further back history to it, but as it is celebrated now in my time, it is more about the general feeling of goodwill and peace and being together, though some people to continue to celebrate the religious aspects of it.

Goodwill. Peace. Being together. [He looked around, before he snorted softly.] Supposedly with one's family, I take it?

Where's you get that?
[She's set up in her hotel room; one of the premium themed rooms that she actually shelled out for (after getting a snow-themed room which she NOPED the hell out of), with a private pool, palm trees, and ambient bird calls in the background.]
Re: Video
Ah. Well. Winn left it for me. It has his name on this tag. With an appropriate greeting, and all.
Re: Video
That was nice of him. Are you going to open it?

It is tradition. If you are well-behaved, St. Nicholas would bestow you with gifts. If you were bad, Krampus would visit in his stead.
Re: video;;
...let me see if I understand this, if one is good, one gets gifts. If one is bad, something called a Krampus would come for you? I take it Krampus is rather nasty?
video;;
[ He pauses, grin spreading across his face. ] You see, Krampus comes not to give, but to take. He would fill his bag with naughty children and beat them with switches made of hickory.
