At the risk for earning a reputation as a party planner, I have a thing for everyone to attend again. Don't worry, lots of other people are helping pull it together. It's going to be on New Year's Eve, but the real event is the countdown to Winn's birthday which is also on the first. It's going to be in a club we rented out for this in the red shift district. Starts around seven-ish. Ends when you pass out?

It's kind of a surprise maybe? At least the part where it's for his birthday. And if you don't know Winn but you still want to come that's fine too. You can trade a gift for Winn for a free drink at the bar. Otherwise, bring some money. Cake's on us though.

[Birthday/New Year's Party]
[The space is well decorated and so glittered you can probably tell Wrath was part of the team putting this together. Lots of Winn's friends came out to help whether it was getting decorations up, managing food, music, or chipping in to buy out the space and a drink for anyone bringing a gift. Not to mention drinks for the birthday boy all night.

There's a table for presents and another one with a spread of openly available food though the bar has appetizers you can buy too. There's a big cake at one end because of course there is and some punch that didn't start the night spiked at least. There's space for dancing and a karaoke machine set up on a small raised platform for those who want to try their hand at entertainment.

The night really kicks off when Winn walks in and instead of a balloon drop there's a fluffy blue stuffed bear drop. Feel free to take one of those home. There are a lot.

When midnight comes closer some people will file out to one of the observation areas to get a good view of the nebula for the big countdown. Bring your own person to kiss!

Natasha smiles across her shoulder at him, smiling before she slides right into dancing beside him.]

[ oh, he didn't know about those perils, he's not used to being the guest of honor. would still totally do it again. ]

Pretty freaking amazing, thanks. [ he says it without a hint of sarcasm - his cheeks are flushed from the drinks and the dancing and the happiness, and he can't seem to stop smiling. he also can't seem to stop saying thank you. ] How's yours?

So far? It's been pretty nice so far. Not a bad way to bring in the new year all things considered.

[She is, indeed, pulling him into dance, looping an arm over his shoulder loosely unless he tries to escape.]

[ he makes no such attempt, instead falling in line to dance in her more dignified way. ]

You've got high New Year's Eve party standards?

[ as far as he's concerned, it's the best one he's ever attended. ]

I've got high standards in general. But I'm enjoying myself.

[Certainly not here to bring down anyone's party, especially not when it's their birthday party.]

And I intend to keep enjoying myself

[ no worries, it's not that easy to bring him down, especially when the people he loves organize that big of a love fest for him. ]

Good intention - I intend it myself. [ for him to keep enjoying himself - and for all of his guests to do the same ]

You better. There'd be a few very disappointed people if you didn't.

[A smile, tempered with a raised eyebrow.]

A disappointed girlfriend, even. No one wants that.

No - definitely no one ever wants that!

[ nodding along ]

Guess I'm just gonna have to have the best time ever.

That seems like the only safe course of action.

[Archly teasing.]

Does that mean I get a dance?

[winn]

Something tells me you always do.

[ he smiles but it's all said in good nature, he'll always dance with her, unless kitty, or one of his closer friends demand his attention. she's a beautiful woman who wouldn't want to dance with her?

finishing his drink, he spots someone who seems to be heading for the bar and asks for a solid. they take the glass from him and he offers his now empty hand to her. ]

I have my ways.

[Convincingly so. Natasha projects the air of a woman who gets what she wants. And besides, she enjoys a dance.

And since it doesn't look like anyone is interfering, she'll get what she wants now too.]

Asking works.

[ he dances competently enough, he's got a decent sense of rhythm and has been practicing a lot this year, what with his dancer girlfriend and all. ]

[Natasha would be disappointed if he couldn't. She knows about Kitty's background too.]

Asking usually works here. Other times...

[Well, she is a very good dancer.]

[ he is not in the business of disappointing beautiful women! that's more of an accidental bi-product of overly chatty nerdiness. ]

I'm smart enough to just say yes at the asking stage - [ don't get him in trouble on his birthday, natasha ]

[That all depends what will get him in trouble. But she's not aiming for it.]

Kitty's a lucky woman.

[ it feels like extremely high praise from a woman like her. ]

Well, if there's anytime to enjoy your compliments, it's for your birthday.

[And he makes Kitty happy. That's really all anyone can ask for.]

Nicely said. [ if he could smile any more than he already is without breaking his face, he would. ]

So would it be wrong to ask just how hold you are?

[Changing the subject, but only slightly.]

It's a birthday, I think it's the obvious question. [ he shrugs. he does have his complicated emotions about his age, but most of them revolve around kitty's age and really she's more mature than he is most of the time. ] I'm 30.

A youthful thirty. [In a lot of ways. But she does mean it as a compliment.]

[winn]

I'll be a youthful 80.

[ he completely takes it as a compliment. he has no intention of aging with dignity, dignity is overrated and it's boring. he's plenty responsible when he needs to be, changing decades is no reason to not have all the fun in the world when he can. ]

In the circles I run with, you'd have some tough competition for that.

[These ninety eight year olds who look thirty. Not even fair.]

Okay 1. Superpowers and comas don't count. 2. We're not talking physically unless you were in which case -- thank you. [ smile! but he's definitely not thinking about what he'll look like when he's 80 just. so much no. ]

It can always be both, can't it? In both cases. Kara reminds me she's older than she looks regularly.
